    FIRST!

    • SpiffyTheValiant

      Damn you are fast.

  • 17

2 brand new threads before noon? Wow! Movin’ on up!

  • I love the clip Unka, I used to sing a line or two of that to my kids in the morning :^) or I would utter the phrase~ we’re late, we’re late, no time to wait.

    • I sing bits of it all the time, even though I’m not a huge fan of the film (it’s good, just not my cup of tea), I find that song infectious!

      • Truly it is:) I also have a fondness for old Flixs. I don’t think I’ve seen this particular movie though.

        • “Singing In The Rain” ?!?! You haven’t seen it? Oh, WOW. You are in for a treat. It is, perhaps THE musical.

          • Yeah I don’t know how I have managed to miss it. I see plenty of Clips, but never had the opportunity to watch the film.

And “The” Musical in my book is “The Sound of Music” 😛

Some of my favorite old time movies would be..

            Caine Mutiny
            The out-of-towners
            North by Northwest
            Anything with Danny Kaye.

  • And, this, shows what living in a fascist (corporatist) authoritarian state is all about.

A Debt Collector Came After Me for $36 of Girl Scout Cookies

No one enjoys answering an unexpected knock on the door at 7 a.m., let alone from someone you don’t know. Now imagine the stranger is there to tell you you’re being sued over a debt that isn’t yours. That’s a rough way to start the day.

    • Shohanna

I try to never throw away trash that has my name and addy on it. Or any identifying information. I am paranoid like that. Like today I went to yahoo.com to check out my mail and stuff and my REAL FUCKING NAME was in the contact list. I am not sure when I deleted it if it is truly gone. Probably not and I am NOT a happy camper about this bullshit.

  • I’m fairly certain that this has been posted here before, but I’ll post it again, for those who may have missed it.

  • Ok Unka got me thinking about old movies, here’s a clip from an oldie but a goodie.

    • dayanmao

What’s happened to films? Where are the writers, the actors?

  • dayanmao

That’s a great clip. I’d like to add this one. I love Betty Hutton.

I’ve posted before that I’ve had problems connecting to RT at times. It seems that I’m not the only one and Comcast not the only provider screwing with the connection.

After trying for the past half hour {Firefox can’t find the server at http://www.rt.com) I was finally able to connect by using RTs twitter link.

Perhaps this is what they were hiding (yes, my foil hat is on).

“China ‘to provide aid, enhance military training’ in Syria – top army official”

Beijing and Damascus have agreed that the Chinese military will provide humanitarian aid to Syria, a high-ranking People’s Liberation Army officer said, adding that the training of Syrian personnel by Chinese instructors has also been discussed.

Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of China’s Central Military
Commission, Guan Youfei, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday for talks with
Syrian Defense Minister Fahad Jassim al-Freij, Chinese Xinhua news agency reported.

During the negotiation, Guan noted China’s consistent diplomatic efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, adding that Beijing is now seeking closer military ties with Damascus.

    https://www.rt.com/news/356161-china-syria-military-training/

    • dayanmao

Oh FSM, I don’t see a good outcome for this. Can’t the Chinese just let us dig our own graves?

    • dayanmao

I see you’ve encountered the unfettered genius of progressivedog. What a dick.

      • smkngman3

        You’re too polite.

        • At Alternet?

          • smkngman3

            Yep!

        • dayanmao

I posted about 15 articles, headlines, links, and snippets (which are sort of like little summations), the fucker’s still going on about it not being what I said and refuses to read them. He’s such an asshole. I called him out and blocked him.

          • smkngman3

            Sounds like Gunther.

          • Dosido3

FFS these are the new censors.

    • 17

I’ve checked RT every time you’ve said you can’t get in, and haven’t had any trouble.

      • The_Fixer

Sounds to me like their Domain Name Server is fucked up.

        • Smokey is the second person that said they’ve been having problems.

      • smkngman3

This, as I said, has happened many times. I even went to a site that checks to see if RT was down. They showed a connection yet when I tried again, nothing.

Seem others are having the same problem. RT is the ONLY site I’ve had a problem with.

        • dayanmao

I’ve been having major trouble with google – it wouldn’t let me search anything for days.

        • The_Fixer

Smokey, next time you have a problem, type this in your browser address bar:

          http://207.244.80.166

I am sure Disqus turned that into a link, so I suppose you could click that, too 🙂

          Edit: No it didn’t! Huh!

          • smkngman3

            No link but I’ll copy.

          • Disqus uses a pattern-matching string that requires a URL to end in (dot)(some-string-of-3-or-4-characters).

          • The_Fixer

Makes sense. I thought maybe the http:// triggered it, but apparently, no.

          • Oh, the pattern-match requires [http(s)://] as well. LOL.

          • FWIW, this is the standard “Regular Expressions” string to match a URL:

            /^(https?://)?([da-z.-]+).([a-z.]{2,6})([/w .-]*)*/?$/

          • dayanmao

            Show off. :^)

          • 🙂 Been using it for like 2 decades now, I can write it by heart. LOL

          • Here’s an image I just found that’s breaks down how the patter works..

    • Do you use the default nameservers provided by your ISP? If so, you should consider changing to Google’s name servers, See here.

      • smkngman3

I’ve read that. My next move!

Both Comcast and Cox users have reported problems.

        • Cox just sucks as an ISP. So it’d be no surprise to me if their DNS was buggy and failure-prone. In fact, that’s exactly why I started using Google’s DNC, a decade ago. Cox’s shitt ability to resolve even big American sites’ names. And I mean Amazon & such.

    • cathyx

I didn’t have any problems. I’m on chrome.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

        hey cathy

        • cathyx

Hi spiffy. I’m so sorry to hear about your kitty. That stinks. My cat died the same way, but he was much younger. They said he had an enlarged heart.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            Awe poor kitty and thanks.

          • Sorry cathyx.

  • Dosido3
    • SpiffyTheValiant

      hai 🙂

      • Dosido3

        Nibby nabby noobie
        la la la lo lo

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          lol

  • Nancy
    • dayanmao

That was excellent. I’m not voting for Johson, but he sure knows how to make a sound bite.

      • Nancy

        yes, he does.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          *play bounces the nancyness.*

    • Shohanna

Johnson is nutty! O.O Will not vote for him.

Stein is still only on 28 state’s ballots.

Still writing in Bernie Sanders. Fuck the Elite.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

Jill’s on more states now i think. 🙂

        • Shohanna

She is trying, I just read an article where it is still 28, but she has somethings going on that 7 will be shortly and another 20 after a certain time frame where she has to wait for the primary date to be over. Something I find ridiculous. :/

          • SpiffyTheValiant

I know she just added at least three more states.

          • Shohanna

Grrr.. The article didn’t mention that.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Well might be an old article or the author might not be aware of it yet.

          • Shohanna

Very true. Ty for spreading it. 😀 31 states now.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yay

  • Dosido3

Id wake up my kids by singing this in my very uncool mom voice Worked every time!
    http://youtu.be/IKqV7DB8Iwg

    • I don’t think you can sing that and be an uncool mom.

      • Dosido3

Haha. Trying to be cool us inherently uncool. So i murder that song XD

        • The_Fixer

Sounds like it did what it was intended to do 🙂

        • Ha:^) One day my daughter was mildly ragging on me, for being out of it and not hip.

I informed her that I would most likely be the uncoolest person she would ever meet. She dropped that bone;^)

  • The_Fixer

A great rendition of a classic tune:

  • And now… Button that top button, tighten that tie, sit bolt-upright in that straight-back chair, it’s time for some difficult music:

  • SmotPoker

Welp, it looks like you poor bastards are in for it now, as I’ve found you. There will be no mercy given nor asked.

    • Hi smot:^)

      • SmotPoker

        Greetings Stephanie.

        • I know that this is hard for me to wrap my head around.

So I can only imagine how you’re feeling coming into it just now. At least most everybody is here :^)

          So is your car fixed?

          • SmotPoker

            Hahahahahahahaahaahahahahaha. No.

          • Nancy

great to see you found us!

          • SmotPoker

            I had good directions.

          • Nancy

heh, a man that follows directions!
            go figure…

          • SmotPoker

            What are the odds huh?

          • Ann Watson

If you don’t want to go round in circles, follow these directions: Turn right, turn right, turn right, turn right again.
Now you’re going round in squares. ; )

          • Nancy

            😉

          • Ann Watson

            Hi, Nancy!
            How’s you?

          • 17

            Hi Ann! 😉

          • Ann Watson

            Hi 17! ; )

          • 17

            All good your way?

          • Ann Watson

            Very good, thanks.
            How about you?

          • 17

            Wet, but good.

          • Ann Watson

Just come out the shower? ; )

          • 17

Raining like hell here. Back 40 is a lake.

          • Ann Watson

            Got a boat?
Perhaps you should get your rod and tackle out, who knows what you might catch. ; )

          • 17

            Fishing. Now there’s a thought!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            good to see you ann.

          • Ann Watson

Good to see you too. ; )

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            🙂

          • s k

That sucks, that is still raining there. Some areas around here had as much as 4 inches. What are you at?

          • 17

I don’t know how much we got. It finally stopped aroung noon, after raining all night. Heard the sump pump running all night and still going today. The ground water seeps right in, so it’ll be going for a few days.

          • Nancy

hello Ann! nice to see you…I am doing good.
            been ages-are you behaving?
            ;-P

          • SpiffyTheValiant

:)) as if anyone here would be behaving.

          • Ann Watson

            I’m always behaving, just don’t ask how. ; )
            It’s good to see you.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Does it have anything to do with Michael and fuzzy handcuffs?

Sorry, that was bad of spiffy :))

          • Ann Watson

Au contraire, very good spiffy. ; )

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            😉

          • Sorry, I so very much “hate” cars that don’t work.

    • SpiffyTheValiant

      lmao. Hey, Smot 🙂

      • SmotPoker

Hiya Spiffy, so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart bleeds for you.

      • SmotPoker

        You got it….

    • The_Fixer

Hey, Smot! Great to see ya!

I gotta get going, but I’ll be looking in later. Have a good day!

    • smkngman3
    • MsPythia

      Yay!!!! Smot is here! 😀

      • SpiffyTheValiant

        and yay ms.

        • MsPythia

Can you flip it for just a minute?

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            ok 🙂

          • MsPythia

            😀

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            i is in troubles?

    • Shohanna

Hey Smot What happened with your trip to FL?! I was on the 2nd day and really wanted to hear the whole trip!! Is your brother alright, what’s going on?

      • SmotPoker

I just returned from going back to have three days of training for his care, and to drag my piece of shit car back from Williamsburg, KY where it died once again with the same damn problem on my last trip down there to retrieve it from Tifton, GA where it was allegedly “repaired”.

Chapter Three will be out soon. I haven’t had time to write shit with all this going on, and I haven’t taken my laptop with me on the road, just the iPad, and I hate typing on that thing with my long ass comments, let alone my novella from hell.

        • Shohanna

I will wait patiently! I love your funny, articulate way of describing the “week in hell”. I am sorry you had to go through all of that. I really am. *hug*

          • SmotPoker

For the record, that week in hell has turned into just over a month. I left on my adventure on July 9th, and returned with car in tow yesterday afternoon. Car is at local mechanics shop as we speak.

          • Shohanna

HOLY COW!! O.O Oh damn Smot, I am so sorry!! I wish I could help. /nod

          • SmotPoker

I was in your stomping grounds for a few days if I remember correctly. You’re a KY girl correct?

          • Shohanna

Yes I am lovely. In Louisville. 😀

          • SmotPoker

I knew it. I should have at least attempted to contact you. I was stuck in Williamsburg, KY. Stayed at The Cumberland Inn where the college is, a really nice place.

Perhaps it’s better we didn’t meet, the universe might have collapsed….

          • Shohanna

Damn it, NO it wouldn’t have. **sad panda** Even if we could only be friends, I would love to meet you. 😀

        • Don’t you love it when life throws you two, three.. couple dozen curveballs. Good Times:/

          This is for you ;^)

          http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uExQKlhx5ms

          • SmotPoker

Life is throwing at my head these days…

          • (((Hugs))) hang in there kiddo.

          • SmotPoker

All I can do. Life knows I can crush the curve balls now, so it’s just throwing at my head these days. I’m onto it’s little game….

      • SmotPoker

If I get enough interest from the curious, I can ask about posting the first two parts here. I don’t want to come in, and start stepping on toes.

        • We got fast toes! Just sign up on the WordPress site itself (here) and you can post them yourself, with full editing capabilities, etc.

I’ll approve you as a contributing author as soon as I see the account!

          • SmotPoker

OK, I’ll tell you ahead of time that there is a profane amount of profanity.

          • OK, sorry about the delay. You’re upgraded to author. On your dashboard page you should see a “posts” menu. You can use that to “add new” posts or edit your old ones. The WordPress editor is based on TinyMCE, which is used all over the web, so it should be familiar. If you need any help with it though, you can check out this guide or hit me up at the email address on the right-hand sidebar or just go to “The Backroom” forums and check out the “Creating Your Posts” topic.

And, fuck, you can be as profane as you like.

          • SmotPoker

Thank you. By popular request(?) it’s now available here with a bonus excerpt of the opening of the next chapter. Over 4000 words for your reading pleasure….

            http://exile.bottleofsmoke.com/2016/08/16/road-hell-fuck-running/

          • Cool! Also can be found in the right-hand “Recent Posts” sidebar!

          • SmotPoker

Feel free to edit any mistakes you may see.

          • I went ahead and added a “Featured Image” to the post, and promoted it to the front page!

          • SmotPoker

Why thanks friend. I saw that I didn’t have an image after the fact, and will endeavor to do better in the future. I should have known better as this ain’t my first rodeo. Thanks for featuring this. It’s only day two of a thirty day adventure. There is lots more to be told…..

          • SmotPoker

I’ll also accept request for written content on subjects if the urge should arise. Give me a direction to run, and I’ll go.

          • If you’re got any topic in mind, please feel free to post. We’re a small shop here, You, Me, and RTII, right now, so featured content is always welcome. True, our open threads are always going to see the most action, but it’s still nice to have some other content. 😀 I’m hoping to get something published myself, this evening.

          • SmotPoker

Alrighty, I signed up for an account, but I see no place to create or submit some work.

        • Shohanna

Lots of interest I am pretty sure. I wasn’t the only one who wanted to make sure you were safe and your bother is recovering.

    • Annaleigh

      Yay, you made it! 😀

    • s k

I am happy to see you escaped from the internet’s version of the Stanford Prison Experiment.

      • Shohanna

ROFLMAO!! Holy cow that was funny.. **Runs to the RR**

“Teen Once Detained At Guantanamo May Not Sue For Torture, Appeals Court Rules”

A federal judge, U.S. District Judge Ellen S. Huvelle, granted his habeas petition and ordered the U.S. government to release Jawad in August 2009. Huvelle also ruled the “confession” he was forced to sign in Afghanistan was the result of torture.

Jawad sued for damages in 2014 and alleged the torture he experienced while he was illegally detained violated the Federal Tort Claims Act, Alien Tort Claims Act, the Third & Fourth Geneva Conventions, and the Fifth and Sixth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution. But the D.C. District Court ruled the Military Commissions Act of 2006 bars courts from hearing any of Jawad’s claims.

    https://shadowproof.com/2016/08/15/teen-detained-guantanamo-may-not-sue-torture-appeals-court-rules/

    • SpiffyTheValiant

We’re torturing teenagers. -_- Tell us again who is part of the Axis of Evil?

      • smkngman3

I would love to see a role rversal.

Put the innocent detainees in charge of questioning Bush and Co, at Gitmo.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          lmao

        • Edwin

They would probably be far gentler having gone thought it themselves.

    • dayanmao

He could still sue them in international court, presumably anyway. One would need the means to do so.

      • smkngman3

        Nicaraguais still waiting to collect.

      • Edwin

The US would drone the court before they let that happen.

    • Shohanna

Oh so it’s even worse then I thought. The US Patriot Act was passed in 2001. But this law is even more egregious then the USP. I didn’t know that. I bet there are a lot of people that didn’t know that either.

      • smkngman3

We do the crime but don’t ever pay a dime.

        • Shohanna

This is exactly why you know we do not have a 4th Estate.

        • Edwin

If you’re at the top of the pyramid there are no laws. You’re also free to piss down on everyone else. Who can stop you?

“NASA Study Nails Fracking as Source of Massive Methane ‘Hot Spot'”

A NASA study released on Monday confirms that a methane “hot spot” in the Four Corners region of the American southwest is directly related to leaks from natural gas extraction, processing, and distribution.

The 2,500-square mile plume, first detected in 2003 and confirmed by NASA satellite data in October 2014, is said to be the largest concentration of atmospheric methane in the U.S. and
is more than triple a standard ground-based estimate. Methane, the primary component of natural gas, is a highly-efficient greenhouse gas—84 times more powerful than carbon dioxide, and a significant contributor to global warming.

“Lawsuit Warns $234B In Aid To Israel Violates US Law Against Supporting Secret Nuclear States”

Filed Aug. 8 by Grant Smith, director of the Institute for Research: Middle East Policy, or IRMEP, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the suit alleges that U.S. aid to Israel violates two amendments to the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act, known as the the Symington and Glenn Amendments, which collectively ban support for countries engaged in clandestine nuclear programs.

In the lawsuit, Smith alleges that violating these amendments means that Israel has received approximately $234 billion in illegal aid since the passage of the International Security Assistance and Arms Export Control Act of 1976.

“House Republicans receive FBI notes from Clinton interview”

The House Oversight Committee said Tuesday it had received FBI documents
related to the agency’s recently closed investigation of Hillary
Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary
    of state.
    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/6b30df773df9496bab3c2a9e6d4a695e/house-republicans-receive-fbi-notes-clinton-interview

    • Shohanna

The FBI last month closed its yearlong probe into whether Clinton and
her aides mishandled sensitive information that flowed through a private
email server located in the basement of her New York home. Though he
described Clinton’s actions as “extremely carless,” FBI Director James
Comey said his agents found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the
      Democratic presidential nominee.

OH because of their own malfeasance they can’t find her guilty either of treason. The fucking asshats!!

      • smkngman3

Did you really expect a different outcome from Obamas administration?

          • dayanmao

Four times, four times the victim, one time I had photographs proving the police were lying and the judge tossed it out court at pretrial.

The other three? Liars, thieves, fraud perpetrators, assholes and their attorneys, think nothing of committing perjury, paying judges and witnesses in order to get their verdicts.

Their is no justice in America. The laws don’t mean shit. Judges get to interpret, disregard, and apply (or not) as they see fit.

The hell you say, well, when you don’t have the money to fight – they wealthy get to do whatever the fuck they want , no matter how illegal, and get away with it.

          • Shohanna

I am well aware of it. I have seen it and experienced it first hand. Never got to collect on what I was owed. As I had money for a lawyer not for a collection agency. :/

        • Edwin

          Wasn’t that the deal?

          • smkngman3

            Sure.

It’s why he appointed Hillarys 2008 co campaign chair, DWS, to head the DNC!

As DWS said in her debate vs Canova, she has been working since 2012 to get Hillary anointed!

          • dayanmao

The victim retracted her statements a few years ago. Doesn’t make any difference to the authorities though.

          • Shohanna

No, it doesn’t. They will attempt to convict anyway. It has to do with the laws in Sweden. Technically he did but the way I saw it, no way. She consented.

          • Edwin

Lynch has no jurisdiction or interest in that matter,

      • Basically its Julian Assange’s lawyers telling Lynch. That they have provided no evidence to the 6 year long criminal investigation, and that considering they closed Clinton’s case in a timely manner. That they should proceed to close Julian’s criminal case.

“Clinton on Policy: Missing in Action”

But with only 12 weeks before Election Day, voters still don’t know which of Clinton’s hundreds of proposals are her top priorities, or how she’d get Congress’s support for ideas both parties have rejected before.

Clinton’s strategy is to mock Trump’s proposals with clever ripostes. His 15 percent tax on pass-through business income is now the “Trump Loophole.” But rarely is she forced to defend her own ideas on a level playing field.

TV Networks Should Open Up the Presidential Debates to Third Parties:http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/37245-tv-networks-should-open-up-the-presidential-debates

    – “Exclude Third-Party Candidates”: In February 1987, Democratic Party chair Kirk and GOP chair Fahrenkopf together, issued a press release and held a Washington, DC, news conference to announce the formation of the Commission on Presidential Debates (“Commission on Joint Appearances” apparently didn’t sound right) — with themselves as co-chairs. The press release called the new group “bipartisan.” According to The New York Times, Fahrenkopf indicated at the news conference that the CPD was “not likely to look with favor on including third-party candidates in the debates.” The Times reported: “Mr. Kirk was less equivocal, saying he personally believed the panel should exclude third party candidates from the debates.” The newspaper quoted Kirk: “As a party chairman, it’s my responsibility to strengthen the two-party system.”

    — “Perpetrate a Fraud”: In 1988, with the CPD taking control of the debates on behalf of the two major parties, the League of Women Voters announced its withdrawal from any debate sponsorship because:

the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates’ organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public.

“Omaha’s answer to pothole complaints: a new dirt road”

The bad roads have been both an anomaly and a source of complaints for years. But recently, they’ve become the center of a mini-crisis after local officials began dispatching crews to tear up the asphalt in the neighborhoods and turn the streets back into dirt roads, much like what existed in the city’s frontier days.

The sudden appearance of miles of dirt road in the midst of urban Omaha has prompted angry protests by residents and showcased a conflict over the public services homeowners should expect when a modern city outgrows some of its old real estate agreements.

“No letter, no notice. We just came home on a Tuesday, and our street was ground up,” said Joe Skradski, a dentist who lives on 113th Street, where a dozen $400,000-and-up houses now line a dirt path. “Since then, it’s been nothing short of a nightmare.”

“Clinton campaign transition chief has pushed for TPP”

The new chairman of Hillary Clinton’s transition team has been an outspoken supporter of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and works for a firm that lobbied for trade policy issues as recently as this spring, a review of congressional lobbying records and articles shows.

Ken Salazar, a former U.S. senator and secretary of the interior, praised the 12-nation Asia-Pacific trade deal late last year for its economic and environmental benefits. He called the pact the “greenest trade deal ever” and said it would help middle-class families get ahead.

    • MsPythia

We need to stop Clinton. We can’t let her become the president.

      • Edwin

It looks like the whole thing has been rigged from the start. She is the oligarch’s choice.

        • MsPythia

We need to vote against her so the cheating and rigging they have to do is so gigantically enormous that everyone will know.

          • Edwin

They might have a new “Pearl Harbor” on stand by in case that happens.

          • MsPythia

            Yeah — moar wars!

          • Edwin

We just know they have been itching for more wars, but I think with the backlash over the bush-blair fuck ups they have had to slow down the pace a wee bit. Lots more places to invade yet (don’t you worry.)

I think these psychopaths have somehow deluded themselves they are doing good (from a purely American perspective– which is all that matters.)

I don’t think they will stop until the American people force them to stop.

          • MsPythia

Hillary is a narcissistic monster. I’m sure she thinks the everything she does is perfect.

          • Edwin

I think the USA is a pressure cooker. Between austerity/poverty, lies, deceit, corruption and endless warmongering there will be a straw that breaks the camel’s back, just what and when?

What will get the people into the streets?

Things that can’t go on forever, don’t.

          • You would think that Trump is the warning that they’ve gone too far.

They have to know that they’re pushing the breaking point here.

          • Edwin

Why just Trump? I think he might be the least worst one running. :~>

          • I’m really not getting into a debate about who is worse. They are both abhorrent in their own ways.

My point is that when Society is stressed they are attracted to a leader who focuses their hatred onto minorities, women and the poor. Trump is that leader…a clear indication that Society is under too much pressure and distress.

Does the elite want to keep us down and disenfranchised… sure. What they don’t want is for Society to implode… surely they recognize we’re getting to a Tipping Point.

          • MsPythia

You could tell at the Democratic Convention that the left knows it’s reached a tipping point.

          • I agree but they had the weirdest response to it. It was to double down on the bullshit. Completely boggled my mind.

          • MsPythia

You should watch that video I posted earlier — there were some tactics in there that I wasn’t aware that they’d resorted to in order to keep the happy smiling bullshit face on their rigged nomination.

          • Was it the one with the woman with the long black hair?

          • MsPythia
          • Thanks MsPy, saw it twice. Appreciate it though:^)

          • Edwin

And their response seemed to be, “we don’t give a shit.”

          • Flipping us the bird, was my perception.

          • Edwin

I saw an excellent video on all the stunts the DNC pulled, but which one (can’t remember). The whole convention was a heap of bullshit. Propaganda, rigged, a fantasy, a show.

          • Yep!

          • Edwin

Here it is– very well done!!!!!!!!!!

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0fXTURlbNU

          • I did view that video. Am I supposed to recognize the woman? Because I don’t.

          • Edwin

            I think it’s homemade.

          • Yeah, I would agree.

          • Edwin
          • Ty.

          • Edwin

These youngsters are very adept at using these internets.

          • LOL, some of the older folks to, myself not included.

          • Edwin

I can do some stuff. Not bad for self-taught older guy.

          • :^)

          • Yeah, well made. Did someone here make it?

          • s k

Like Rahm said, we are just fucking retards, Now they are seeking GOP voters

          • Edwin

“The Poorest Americans Die Younger Than the Poorest Costa Ricans”

This study provides further evidence that in the U.S., money buys health, to an extent not seen in other countries. There’s nothing that puts that in stark relief like looking at the long, healthy lives of
    poor foreigners.

“The dangerous alliance between Hillary Clinton’s Democrats and neocons: Fear of Trump is cementing a strange relationship”

Clinton’s campaign may perceive some short-term advantage in brandishing these dubious endorsements, but the long-term ramifications are effectively invite such people back into the fray of respectable discourse. They are once again seen as neutral, duly-credentialed “experts” whose intonations are worth dutifully listening to. By association, Hillary’s tacit approval allows these neoconservatives to accrue renewed prestige and eventually insinuate themselves back into
    positions of power.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/michael-tracey-liberals-neocons-trump-article-1.2752285

    • Edwin

In one of my documentaries the other night they explained there are no more neocons. They are now called liberal interventionists or some such shit. None of them have gone away, they have jsut gone out of sight and re-branded. They are flocking to Hillary Clinton like flies to shit.

      google fast answer

      People also ask
      What is liberal interventionism?
Liberal internationalism is a foreign policy doctrine that argues that liberal states should intervene in other sovereign states in order to pursue liberal objectives. Such intervention can include both military invasion and humanitarian aid.

  • smkngman3
  • MsPythia
    • SpiffyTheValiant

It has the word Clinton in it. That is an obvious answer lol.

      • MsPythia

        Truth!

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          ^^

    • Edwin

      YES.

Do I need to read the article? :~>

      • MsPythia

Not really. It has a few interesting things in it though.

    • s k

I bet the GOP is already writing up articles of impeachment.

    • smkngman3
    • dayanmao

Of course, that and many other things.

      • MsPythia

Yeah, there’s also the Clinton Family Foundation as well. That’s a whole separate but also criminal enterprise from the Clinton Foundation for money laundering and tax evasion.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          That’s…just stupid. Two of them?!

          • MsPythia

Yeah. I hadn’t realized that until her taxes came out, but it’s true. And check it out:

Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill deducted $1,042,000 in charitable
contributions last year — $1 million of which went to their own family
            non-profit, the Clinton Family Foundation.

96 Percent Of Hillary’s Charitable Donations In 2015 Went To Clinton Foundation

            http://dailycaller.com/2016/08/12/96-percent-of-hillarys-charitable-donations-in-2015-went-to-clinton-foundation/#ixzz4HXOSasUY

It’s horrible that I’m giving a Daily Caller link, but they’re the only ones talking about this, since the “progressive” press protects Clinton’s corruption.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Mediaite also covered it. But that doesn’t surprise me.

          • longtime carpenter lurker

A tax free million for her highness, and forty two grand for the little people.

Story checks out, what a con. The center right former reagan democrat clinton humpers are a special kind of morons.

          • smkngman3

They deducted 18 million from their taxes over the years, which went directly to the slush fund.

    • kreskin

      Pay to play .

Went to wrong thread and left a comment. I hope to read Smot_poker’s article a little bit later. I am only here for a couple minutes as the application I have been working on since May will be launching Friday. I hope to pop in from time to time during the week, but I will be scarce.

    • MsPythia

Hi Edgar! Good luck with your launch!

    Hi Everyone…

…Like Edgar, I’ve been busy. I work on these engines between Earth Science or Computer Science consulting gigs, like this one, the very latest:

    http://356coachworks.com/share/engines/63_616_16_SC_81058x.html

Enjoy! I finished the engine (to the “long block” stage) yesterday and the web page just now! 🙂 Will proof read it in the am!…

Now, back to the workshop for me!

    • MsPythia

      Hi RT! <3

    • Hi RTII :^) Hope all goes well with your work, and you can post soon.

    • notisaidthepig

Wow. That looks very impressive to my totally unmechanical eyes. Congrats, RT!

      • RTIII

        Thanks, Mr Pig! 🙂

I can assure you that it’s impressive even for mechanically-informed eyes, too! 🙂

At least, that’s what my customers tell me!

    • Edwin

      Very impressive.

I had to register with the police because I am a danger to society when I pick up a power tool.

Gary Johnson and Jill Stein Aren’t Polling High Enough to Make The Debates
Five major network polls will be used to determine whether they reach the 15% threshold
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/gary-johnson-jill-stein-polling-debates_us_57b2ffe3e4b0863b02849bab

Conveniently, most of the networks are in the tank for Shillz, and have been the ones lying for her in the polls already.

    • cathyx

Were they even a choice in the poll?

      • MsPythia

Johnson was in all the polls, Stein was in some not others. that’s also very convenient.

        • cathyx

So that’s totally unfair then. What a joke. Again.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

That’s because Jill draws from Hillary. Gary draws mostly from Trump. They are fine with him gobbling some of Trump’s votes, as long as he doesn’t hit 15.

    • MsPythia

The fact is, they can’t let Jill Stein on the state with Shillz. There will be no progressive voices allowed in the mainstream now.

      • Edwin

Just like during my entire lifetime. (Think about that.) Most people wouldn’t know a progressive if they met one.

speaker: Oh, you saved a tree once? You’d make a great progressive preznit.

(I know a lot of people who suffer from this disease.)

    • SpiffyTheValiant

I figured as much. I hope Jill and Gary crash the debates.

      • MsPythia

Yeah, they’ll have to shackle Jill to a chair for 8 hours again if she goes near the debates. Just like when she showed up outside the venue when Obama and Romney were debating and just wanted to make a comment to the press. They had to silence her, because progressive voices aren’t allowed in America. It threatens the status quo.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

They can wear disguises and pretend to be the moderators and then reveal themselves in a dramatic twist!

  • Is Bernie Sanders being played by DNC? Umm yeah, but let’s see what new bullshit we discovered about the DNC.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftUr2gvMaCw

    • MsPythia

The entire left has been played by the DNC. It’s just that many are too stupid to realize that.

      • RTIII

        Pretty impossible after this primary.

      • Edwin

And all of them post at C&L or work for C&L. Hiya, Karoli (you liar.)

        • 17

          lol

        • dayanmao

Alternet, Salon, and Raw Story too. Mother Jones was in the bag a long time ago as well.

          • Edwin

All true, but they didn’t stalk me around their site for weeks spreading lies so they could ban me. There’s a special place in hell for c#pcakes like her.

          • dayanmao

True, that’s an extra serving of crazy.

          • Edwin

She did for at least 3 weeks. Even though I pointed out the error of her ways (when she was dead fucking wrong) she never said she was sorry. She said I was multi-tasking and not paying attention. Mmm-Hmmm, sure you were, beach.

    • kreskin

Were we played by Sanders and the DNC ? What about Liz Warren , the progressive liberal’s super hero / rock star ?

      • Shaykayvah used to be TVASPEN

      (NO. I don’t!! Just kidding.)

Trump is Hitler’s second coming, no wait, Trump Is Hitler reincarnate. Hillary is all that’s light and good. No, more than that, she’s a saint.

        • Edwin

Karoli is too lazy to do any research. She merely publishes the Brock feed as it is fed to her. She thinks she’s a big time blog editor, but really she’s a cheesy little con artist– who lies all the time.

          • dayanmao

I couldn’t agree more. I used to get tired of spending All Of 10 minutes to check links, or fact check what she posted. That’s all it took to Disprove Everything she posted.

    • Edwin

      I noticed that too.

    • Merci. I’ll check it out.

    • Hmm. Betting it’s my fault. Probably related to how I manage to show only “promoted” posts on the front page. I’ll work on it.

  • OK. Maybe trimming the grass in the entire back lawn wasn’t as easy as I thought, in this heat and humidity. But, with the huge clod banks gathering at the edge of the city, I might be too busy with sand bags, later.

    https://www.wunderground.com/us/az/phoenix

    • dayanmao

Oh man, I did the same with the front yard today. The heat is a killer.

      • Edwin

I guess we’re all dying of heat everywhere, Nearly 3 weeks straight over here so far. Supposed to go down a few degrees a few days from now. That might be enough to make the difference. I hope. I haven’t had a good night sleep in weeks. Sticky, wet, tossing, turning, fan blowing warm air on me. 🙁

        • notisaidthepig

You’re reminding me of my days in Tanzania. Electricity was always out and there was no such thing as air con. So many nights of just….ugh. You have my sympathies.

          • MsPythia

You lived in Tanzania? So interesting. You’re a fascinating pig.

          • notisaidthepig

Yes, I was up in Moshi for a few years. Moshi is at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. I would walk to work every morning along the dirt road to school and nearly always the clouds had parted and you could see Kili. Stunning. I went on several trips with students exploring the mountain and even made it all the way to the top one day. Sigh.

          • MsPythia

            That sounds amazing.

          • Edwin

I’ve been in Bangkok and Malaysia in the summer and Seoul is worse. 🙁

It could be all the concrete and the air is often still.

          • notisaidthepig

            That’s saying something.

          • Edwin

It gets hot at my sister’s place. She’s a couple of hours from KL, but it’s not as bad as here. She’s in a small town with lots of lush greenery and mountains around. I’m surrounded by asphalt and concrete. 🙁

          • notisaidthepig

Phnom Penh was pretty unbearable most days. Month after month. But I did have air con in my bedroom at night. 😉

          • Edwin

That would do me. A break. I’d be OK. I got up at 4 am so I could rinse the sticky off me.

          • Edwin

            I love Cambodia.

        • dayanmao

That’s miserable. I know the feeling from my time in NY and Boston, it’s bad here (over 100 again today) but minus the east coast humidity.

Have you seen these? It turns out there’s a bunch of variations.

So one interesting thing about my orientation today was that in a room of 1400 new teachers, the head of the union asked people to raise their hands if they had student debt. About 80% of the hands went up. The lady next to me who was my age (52) put her hand up! No worries, though. She’s supporting Stein. We bonded over that.

    • SpiffyTheValiant

      yay for bonding.

      • notisaidthepig

She was coming from California and had been a big Bernie supporter even phone banking for him. Told me she had never been too interested in politics but Bernie motivated her and she was devastated to see how the political establishment treated him. I really appreciate this look into how “normal” folks are seeing things.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

Ah invite her aboard maybe 🙂

          • notisaidthepig

I did. Told her to watch the CNN town hall tomorrow but she already knew about it! I think we have another voter!

Michael Moore: The Inside Story of Why Trump Is Self-Sabotaging His Campaign

Trump had begun talking to other networks about moving his show. This was another way to get leverage—the fear of losing him to someone else—and when he “quietly” met with the head of one of those networks, and word got around, his hand was strengthened. He knew then that it was time to play his Big Card.

He decided to run for president.

Of course he wouldn’t really have to RUN for president—just make the announcement, hold a few mega-rallies that would be packed with tens of thousands of fans, and wait for the first opinion polls to come in showing him—what else!—in first place! And then he would get whatever deal he wanted, worth millions more than what he was currently being paid.

    • MsPythia

He’s insulted basically everyone — it does feel like it was done on purpose.

    • dayanmao

I’ve always said there was no way he wanted to be President. Years ago I worked for a billionaire. You can’t imagine the lives they have. More like Fantasy Island except it’s all real.

(They don’t give a rat’s ass about any of you.)(The ugly truth.)

    • The_Fixer

I don’t know about Michael Moore’s sources or their veracity. But I do know that Drumpfo der Clown never really wanted to be President. That was apparent pretty early on.

I do also know that he is a very, very convenient foil for Hillary Clinton.

At some point, he will drop out or be forced out. Moore is right that Drumpfo does not, under any circumstances, want to be branded a loser.

At some point, there will be some manufactured event that will allow him to claim superiority while he exits. The real question becomes “Who will replace him?” Pence? Somebody else?

This is a carnival with lousy entertainment.

      • dayanmao

No one, Hillary runs unopposed. Is the only name allowed on the ballot.

Aetna Deals Blow To Obamacare Showing Sanders Was Right On Need For Single Payer Plan

During the fight over the Affordable Care Act there were proposals for a public option modeled on Medicare or for an option for older individuals (who are probably the most responsible for the higher costs Aetna complains about) to buy into Medicare. Both were blocked because the two most conservative Senators voting with the Democrats, Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson, opposed these plans. With no Republicans voting for Obamacare, they could effectively block either idea. It is unknown if things would have been any different if the White House had pushed more forcibly for these plans.

    • RTIII

“It is unknown if things would have been any different if the White House had pushed more forcibly for these plans.”

      BULLSHIT.

It’s entirely knowable that Obama ABANDONED all the people he rallied to his cause in ’08 and basically said to them, “You have to force me to do this but I’m not going to rally anyone to this cause.”

Fucking dick, just like I said all the damned time… …I got attacked for “dissing” Obama back in ’09 (and through to present) and my response always was (and remains): Unlike the right wing assholes, I’m dissing Obama for what he did do, or what he implied he would do and didn’t, not for imagined bullshit that are illegitimate criticisms.

      • MsPythia

        Exactly.

St. Clair Shores, Michigan. But since Pokémon Go was released July 6,
the couple’s quaint neighborhood located outside of Detroit, has turned
into “a nightmare,” according to court documents.

“New Batch of Emails Shows Further Connections Between Clinton Foundation and State Department”

The release also showed that controversial Clinton Aide Huma Abedin was sloppy with sensitive documents. One email exchange showed that she left documents in a binder in her unlocked hotel room. This apparently caused some scuttlebutt within the Clinton camp. Other emails showed
Clinton using Foundation employees to set up her voice mail instead of following security protocol, having a State Department handle the installation.

For more than three weeks, an encampment has flourished across from

“Federal Government Turns A Blind Eye To Terrible Conditions In Private Prisons”

The Office of the Inspector General for the Justice Department
uncovered systemic mismanagement at private prisons, which fueled inmate
suffering. However, the office also found the suffering would not have
been so severe if government officials had engaged in proper oversight.

Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), GEO Group, and Management
and Training Corporation (MTC) has contracts with the Bureau of Prisons
(BOP) to house about 22,660 federal inmates in private prisons—about 12
percent of the federal prison population. The BOP has contracted
facilities since the late 1990s, largely because of overcrowding.

He says Gates’ view is dangerous and might lead to us missing a vital window needed to transition to clean energy and avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

It was Friday night in the village of 2,000 souls when two teenage siblings wandered out with their smartphones to play Pokémon Go.

But instead of finding Pikachu or Squirtle they soon came face to face in the park with a couple who must have seemed scarcely more real.

The teenagers’ mother, who reported the incident to the police, told newspaper Dalarnas Tidningar:

“They wore rubber masks depicting pigs’ heads and they started screaming and waving a green laser.”

A laser beam hit one of the teens in the face and the children rushed back home, shaken but luckily unharmed.

The masked shooters, who also wore T-shirts labeled ‘King’ and ‘Queen’, were next spotted by incredulous motorists as they had sex beside the hamlet’s waterwheel.

More abusive employers, this time in Vancouver

Sausage Party has become the surprise hit of a summer sorely lacking in them, making almost $37 million on a $19 million budget. Well, now animators are speaking out about how the film kept costs down.

Stories about horrible working conditions first started coming out in the comments of a Cartoon Brew interview with directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon. Anonymous commenters claiming to have worked on the film flooded the article with complaints about working for Nitrogen Studios. Here are a few examples:

The production cost were kept low because Greg would demand people work overtime for free. If you wouldn’t work late for free your work would be assigned to someone who would stay late or come in on the weekend. Some artist were even threatened with termination for not staying late to hit a deadline.

The idea of all the security we put up with at airports—the lines, the scanners, the bullshit—is so that when there’s an attack, we’ll all be orderly protected. On Sunday night at JFK Airport, we found out how wrong that is. Cheering for Usain Bolt at the Olympics appears to have been mistaken for gunfire and complete chaos ensued.

The issue is not that there was a perceived threat when there was none. It’s that during this perceived threat, all hell broke loose with cops not showing up, security at the airport giving up, and multiple stampedes allowed to run wild.

It’s a damning look at what would happen were there an actual attack at even a New York City airport, much like the last time JFK’s $100 million security got breached by a confused dude on a jetski.

New York Magazine published a firsthand account of what the night was like at JFK. That there was screaming crowds and real terror even in the absence of any actual terrorists is not surprising. What’s more worrying is the complete disorder and almost total lack of protection from the airport’s security apparatus. There was no sign of communication between parts of the airport, no useful organization of panicking crowds, and almost no evidence that the airport would have protected anybody had there been an active shooter or worse. “Where was my fucking billion-dollar NYPD anti-terror force?”, writer David Wallace-Wells asks.

So stupid. Everybody knows the best thing to do is throw yourself to the ground if any bombs start going off. You might want to get out of the immediate area if you’re close, but it’s the people running in terror who get thrown everywhere if another goes off. Need to let the energy wave pass over and the best place for that is on the ground.

Really interesting. Thanks for posting. I’d love the SF to Anaheim high speed train to go through, and I know plenty of other people too who would find it so much easier than flying or driving south.

      • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

Taking Amtrak Cascades to Vancouver for labor day, wouldn’t mind if they upgraded that line as well.

        • MsPythia

I’d do that if I could! That would make for a fun trip!

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

I’ve taken it many times, it’s a nice ride until it hits White Rock, then it gets sloooooooooooooow. Canadians are even worse than us at maintaining their rail infrastructure.

          • MsPythia

Still better than driving if you can take a train though. You get to read, socialize, nap and snack! I love trains!

      • dayanmao

I used to take the train from Penn to Boston all the time. It wasn’t bad, about three hours or so, about the same as a drive without the hassle. The last time I took it they’d added at least another dozen or so stops, probably 20 by now. Imagine 10 – 15 minute stops at each place.

        It’s just horrible now.

        • MsPythia

Yeah. Same from the Newark Airport to where my family lives in New Jersey — so many stops. It takes forever. I used to take the train to NYC or DC when I was younger. It didn’t seem so bad then.

          • The Original Just Me

Airlines fly Nonstop from Key City to Key City only. Amtrak is required to stop at every Podunk Town. Even Grey Hound Buses are making fewer stops and traveling faster highways.

    • The Original Just Me

There is a Major consideration to be considered when talking about the U.S. Railway System. All tracks, rolling stock, equipment, systems, and operation is Privately owned. With the Exception of Amtrak rolling stock. Amtrak runs on privately owned track systems. There is practically NO funds from the government but LOTS of regulation and Heavy taxing for railroads. As for highways and airports. These are almost fully funded by the Government. Also, train routes in the U.S. were laid out in the Late 1800’s and have been running the same routes ever since. Highways for the most part have been routed since 1960. Major Airports have been installed since about 1960. There is a tremendous difference in routing. The reason for Amtrak is because of Government competition from airlines and highways provided by government funding bankrupted the railroads by creating, at government expense, competition. Foreign rail systems have been government owned and operated since they originated. Amtrak was given a bunch of worn out junk and has been trying to update ever since. Amtrak originated in 1971 and has been playing catchup for only 40 years. Some Foreign Railways are over 100 years old with constant updates all along. Even through all of the problems and costs, railways are increasing in business every year and are growing stronger. Amtrak is gaining ridership every year. I personally will not fly because of Airport Security Crap. I mostly drive when I travel because there is No Amtrak service where I live.

So just tried a new flavor of noosa that I found at City Target, Bhakti Chai. I am a fan of chai tea but it can be easily messed up if the spices are not balanced correctly. I would say the spices in the yoghurt were a little strong for a tea but it works in the yoghurt.

Such a dreadfully boring day at work today. Well at least I found out what the problem was with one of our customers. We make a switch testing board and software, he was claiming that his switches were failing and couldn’t figure out why. They were using some epoxy with silver in it that was causing a short on an LED, they put glue over the whole thing and well it can’t be fixed now. So not our problem.

Also really hate android. Today we also got a brand new Nexus 5X, the Nexus line are supposed to be the android flagship phones, this one is made by LG. Seems the bluetooth radio is hosed on it, rather irritating. Other LG phones seem to be having the same problem.

Also seriously pissed off with my legs right now. My feet weren’t working on Saturday so I was “walking” rather wonkily all day. Didn’t have any sensation on my legs etc but I ended up with a sore lower back. The sensation in my legs decided to come back and they hurt a lot. Wish the sensation would have come back next week, bah.

Some years ago, when C-Band (big dish) Satellite TV was king, I ran into a similar problem as your LED issue. We had a receiver that was acting all wonky. It appeared to be a bad microcomputer.

I called the manufacturer to get info on how to verify that, and to see about ordering a replacement. He told me that I should remove all the glue used to secure cables to the PC board. The cables were used for data and address lines between the various parts of the receiver.

It seems that this particular glue would dry out and become semiconductive, causing data and address errors. As it turned out, that was not the case here, but I remembered that. Years later, I worked on a NEC TV that had a vertical sweep problem (very short picture that kept bouncing up and down). Like most NEC TVs, it had a bunch of added components to the board – what I call “Afterthought Engineering.” Guess what they were secured to the board with? Yup, the same funky glue I had encountered in the satellite receiver. Removal of it, in this case, did the job.

I am sure that few of you who have read this are making any sense of it, but I know Daniel knows what this is about and a few others here may as well. Sorry to bore those who have no interest in this kind of thing 🙂

Sounds like part of your job involves working on phones. I do that occasionally when the boss needs a hand. Today I worked on an HTC. Worst.Phone.Ever. As much as I hate working on iPhones, those things are worse. I feel for ya.

On another note, hope the feet start behaving themselves soon.

      • 17

Curious. Do you remember the make/model of that Satellite receiver?

        • The_Fixer

It was a Chaparral, but don’t remember the model number.

          • 17

Yes it was. I used to repair them (and many other brands). Thanks.

          • The_Fixer

We were a primarily a Uniden dealer back in the day. I remember a UST9000 (remember those?) that cam in flashing 0* on the actuator display. I called up their “tech hotline” and asked them what that meant – I knew it was the micro spitting out an error code. He didn’t know, and said the factory didn’t share that info with them. I figured that the most logical thing to look at was the RAM. I was right, replaced that and it fired normally.

Ahh, good times. I remember things like the actuator controller not being able to read pulses from magnetic reed switches when we changes for an optical sensor arm. Made up a small circuit to shape the pulse so that it more closely resembled the shape that an optical sensor arm produced.

In spite of those challenges and the relative crudity of the equipment by today’s standards, at least you could work on the stuff. A lot of stuff made today is simply not designed to be repaired.

          • 17

And it all went the way of the dinosaur. Now everyone and his brother installs the stuff for a six-pack. Goin back to bed now. See ya tomorrow. 😉

          • The_Fixer

Yup. I’m a throwback because these days, I work on stuff that is repairable. It is throwback as well. One of my jobs has me fixing guitar amplifiers and the like, a lot of them with vacuum tubes. I cut my teeth on those, so it;s easy most of the time.

            Have a good night.

      • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

We just make the testing equipment, they created the short, our equipment caught it our job is done 🙂

I write smartphone code. Working on a medical app and I see where it fails. They were saying they had a Galaxy S6 that was working but then failed when they updated to Marshmallow, turned out that wasn’t the case but the LG phones, grumble grumble. It would be a lot easier to figure out what is wrong with it if the medical equipment manufacturer would just give us their library.

        • The_Fixer

Ugh, it’s proprietary! Android is also so fragmented because of what the phone manufacturers do to it, too. I don’t envy you trying to deal with that.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

We’ve made a bunch of equipment for them but there’s this weird relationship with their Japan and US branches, bah!

Yemen bombing ‘calculated war on entire people’

” Saudi Arabia has repeatedly been accused of war crimes; and yet the
UK and the US are still selling their weapons to the country. According
to Topple, the explanation for this is that “too much money” is involved and many decision-makers have interests in arms companies.

“Justa few weeks ago the US signed off an over US$1 billion contract to
Saudi Arabia, which the US Senate suggested and now is considering
blocking. However, the UK is wholly complicit in this. We sold nearly £3
billion worth of arms to Saudi Arabia since the Yemen conflict
    started,” Topple said.

“You have to look at who’s involved with this. If you look at the House of Lords in the UK, which
is equivalent of the American upper house – around 20 percent of the
peers who sit in there, the lawmakers, have vested interests in arms
companies. When you have the likes of the Royal United Services
Institute, RUSI, who advise the UK government and the US government on
defense policy – they are sponsored by Lockheed Martin, Babcock, British
Aerospace, Raytheon… The bottom line – too much money is involved in
this. Unfortunately, what happens – children’s lives go out of the
    window,” the journalist said.
