Your Weekend of Weekends.

UnkaWillbur - May 26, 2017

Here' some links to nosh on, to start of your weekend. I hope everyone's weekend is great; me, myself, I'm planning on jumping out of a perfectly…

  • cathyx

First. The early bird catches the worm.

    • towerofbabel

      Am I a worm?

      • cathyx

        No. The first comment is.

        • RTIII

I thought the first comment was a bird!

          • cathyx

No, I’m the bird. First! is the worm.

          • RTIII

            If you say so!

            What’s shaking today?

          • cathyx

My tummy. I don’t feel so good.

          • RTIII

            Awe! >:D<

Watch what you eat until it settles down… Depending what caused it, you could make it better or worse depending on what you eat! But I'm sure you know that…

          • cathyx

I can’t tell if it’s nerves, taking my kid to college today, first time being an empty nester, or i’m really getting sick.

          • RTIII

Awe! Well, relax as best you can. . . I don’t have any great advice about “empty nest syndrome”, just find things you like to do and do them! 🙂

(…Disqus didn’t show me this comment! 🙁 I found the email notification, then reloaded to find it! )

          • Dosido3

No one talks about it but I will tell you the truth. I cried. So did my friends.

          • Nancy

            I cry every September.
it takes me back to when she first went to grade one…
I put my daughter in boarding school in grade 10 and although it was only an hour away, I still missed her terribly.
Lol, she is now going into her 5th year of university, I still get emotional.

          • towerofbabel

There’s a moral in there somewhere.

          • cathyx

            What does that mean?

          • RTIII

probably a typo – he meant, “there’s a morsel in there somewhere!”

            :))

    • notisaidthepig

      Indeed.

  • cathyx

Amazing that Jill is the only candidate calling for the halt of the construction.
Ok, not really amazing at all.

  • notisaidthepig

I’m listening to Headlines on Democracy Now. Apparently, there will be a debate between two Our Revolution folks. I won’t be able to listen to it now but will catch it later today. Should be interesting to see what the person that quit says.

    • Dosido3

Thanks for attending the event last night and for your report. I know it was a bit dissatisfying but a new movement is like herding cats to begin with. Love our piggy eyes and ears on the ground!

EpiPen maker lowers price after uproar

Mylan, the company that makes EpiPens, said it will provide a savings card worth up to $300 for people who had been paying the full out-of-pocket cost, effectively reducing the cost by 50 percent.

The company is also doubling the eligibility for its patient assistance program, which eliminates out-of-pocket costs for uninsured and underinsured people.

Why Did the Saudi Regime and Other Gulf Tyrannies Donate Millions to the Clinton Foundation?

The claim that this is all just about trying to help people in need should not even pass a laugh test, let alone rational scrutiny. To see how true that is, just look at who some of the biggest donors are. Although they did not give while she was Secretary of State, the Saudi regime by itself has donated between $10 million and $25 million to the Clinton Foundation, with donations coming as late as 2014, as she prepared her presidential run. A group called “Friends of Saudi Arabia,” co-founded “by a Saudi Prince,” gave an additional amount between $1 million and $5 million. The Clinton Foundation says that between $1 million and $5 million was also donated by “the State of Qatar,” the United Arab Emirates, and the government of Brunei. “The State of Kuwait” has donated between $5 million and $10 million.

    • towerofbabel

      Philanthropy? Concern for humanity? Love?

      • cathyx

Yes, all of the above. But not bribery.

        • towerofbabel

Bribery is a conspiracy theory propagated by misogynists.

    • Dosido3

Why did the Clinton Foundation accept it? “It’s what they were offering!”

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Word Games: What the NSA Means by “Targeted” Surveillance Under Section 702

We all know that the NSA uses word games to hide and downplay its activities. Words like “collect,”
“conversations,” “communications,” and even “surveillance” have suffered tortured definitions that create confusion rather than clarity.

There’s another one to watch: “targeted” v. “mass” surveillance.

    https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2016/08/nsa-word-games-mass-v-targeted-surveillance-under-section-702

    • RTIII

      Yeah, they’re “targeting” everybody.

    Let’s talk about Russian influence

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager says the “hand of the Kremlin” has been working in US elections, but no one talks about the hand of Israel, which is on everything from pushing the Iraq war to censoring any
reference to the “occupation” in the Democratic Party platform. The system is rigged by the Israel lobby, and everyone knows it, even if they can’t talk about it.

    http://mondoweiss.net/2016/08/about-russian-influence/

    • Dosido3

You don’t even have to bring Israel into it though it is a strong point. Podesta himself has his own ties to Russia, ffs!

  • SpiffyTheValiant

I hate it when Donald Trump is right.

Donald Trump: Hillary Clinton is a bigot, who sees people of color only as votes.

me: what about that statement was untrue media? Nevermind, let me get you your fainting couches.

    • Dosido3

It is interesting that the white candidates use POC as a political football now that whites are the minority trying to cling to power.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

Remember whenever Clinton lost a state, it was because it was “too white.”

        Yet somehow that wasn’t racist.

        • Dosido3

I suspect that this is why Nina Turner was not allowed to introduce Bernie at the convention…the optics would put the lie to his “all white” appeal. All the blacks belong to Hill.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

I really don’t know how to say this, without it coming off bad. But I”ll just be blunt.

I don’t get why anyone, especially minorities and LGBT people would support her unless they were already in the 1%.

          • Dosido3

I think it is a combination of tradition and “where else can they go?”

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yea

  • SpiffyTheValiant

Media: Hillary hasn’t called Trump a racist, she’s just said his statements are racist.

Me: That’s a distinction without a difference. She isn’t being noble. She’s being a coward.

Hillary Clinton: Candidate of Military Industrial Complex

Clinton has what US arms producers need – a conflation of foreign policy with military power and action. The interventionist foreign policy that has never accomplished any positive results will continue to benefit defense industry and make American people lose. Many US media outlets are doing a disservice to the American people by ignoring the substance of Trump’s arguments about NATO and Russia, and buying the Clinton campaign’s simplistic smear that Trump is a Russian «agent», «Putin’s client» or a «Manchurian candidate». Many Americans just don’t realize their country is on the way to a dangerous confrontation with Russia for no other reason than to make defense corporations richer. It’s not hard to imagine Hillary Clinton leading the country into an armed conflict just because it meets the interests of the military-industrial complex Dwight Eisenhower famously warned the Americans about in his farewell address. A vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote for war.

Yes, There Is “Absolutely” More Info About To Be Released On Hillary

Last night Fox News aired part 1 of a 2-part interview with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Assange noted that they are currently reviewing “thousands of pages of material” related to the Hillary campaign which he described as “significant.” When asked whether the new material will be leaked before the November 8th election, Assange responded “yes, absolutely.”

Don’t have a WSJ subscription, so I can’t access the full article, but the headline and lead-in say it all.

Chelsea Clinton Plans to Stay on Board of Family Foundation
Clinton Health Access Initiative might also continue to accept foreign government and corporate funding

The Clinton Foundation is considering exceptions to its plan to stop accepting corporate and foreign donations and reduce family involvement as a way to insulate Hillary Clinton from potential conflicts of interest if elected president

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/chelsea-clinton-plans-to-stay-on-board-of-family-foundation-1472081719

I’m sure hill-bots will chalk up any complaint about this from the progressive quarter as the result of “butt-soreness.”

    • panem et circenses

Paste the headline into google, then click the x in the top right corner of whatever that popup is.

      • Left of Eden

Yeah, I thought of that but was a little lazy. Here’s from another article.

Chelsea Clinton plans to stay on the board of the Clinton Foundation if Hillary Clinton is elected president in November, a spokeswoman for the younger Clinton told The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday.

That follows an earlier report this week that said the Clinton family would wind down some of the foundation’s activities if Hillary Clinton wins the White House.

Chelsea “is committed to ensuring that those benefiting from the foundation’s work will be able to continue receiving that often life-changing help,” a spokeswoman for Chelsea Clinton told The Journal.

        http://www.businessinsider.com/chelsea-clinton-will-stays-on-the-clinton-foundation-will-she-stop-fundraising-2016-8

Uh-huh. And the prime-time beneficiary is the Clinton family. This is what happens when corporations gain control of our politicians, media, and counting the votes – utter disdain for public opinion.

        • RTIII

It’s certainly life changing help to be made a multi-millionaire without having to actually work for it.

        • Dosido3

They really do operate like a crime family. They have their cover story and then there’s what’s really going on.

          • Left of Eden

The Democratic primary evidenced, that the last public check on the political process, voting, has been sufficiently corrupted to no longer pose a deterrent to even the most egregious transgressions. This was the third arm of a trifecta involving corporate media conglomeration and unlimited legal access to corporate money

    What Israel’s Actions Have Wrought

Israel’s repression of the Palestinians is often rationalized by the historical abuse of the Jews, but Israel’s misconduct is having the disturbing effect of stirring up new anti-Semitism, observes Lawrence Davidson.

When Boats Brought Hope to Gaza

For years, Israel has blocked international ships from reaching the isolated people of Gaza, thus denying the 1.8 million embattled Palestinians maritime contact with the rest of the world and the hope that comes from knowing that they have the support of many people across the globe.

    • Dosido3

My friend is an importer of olive oil to sell for charitable causes. He told me the stories about Israelis booby trapping any shipments to Gaza.

            What’s a little Apartheid, and racism….

Israel was created out of thin air by the the Allied victors following WWII with no thought given to the current residences of that patch of land….

“It’s the land of our ancestors” they cry as justification for their bullshit. It’s like me claiming my great grandfathers house because he was my ancestor, and demanding the current residents get the fuck out or I’ll terrorize them until they go.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            exactly.

          • SmotPoker

I’ll run for POTUS in 2020 with the destruction of Israel as it currently exists as a linchpin of my campaign….

A former employer of mine has training, and manufacturing in israel, and I was sent to train on a specific piece of equipment for two weeks. I was there two days, and said no fucking more, get me the fuck out of here. I’ll learn the system here at home or I won’t fucking learn it. It was the 4th system they wanted to train me on, while other engineers in the company worked exclusively on just one system with very few of us trained across multiple platforms. That was may ace in the hole which saved me from being fired. I told them I wanted nothing to do with that Apartheid nation.

          • 17

That’ll get your head blown off!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

OH geez. That’s how you get on the No Fly List :))

          • SmotPoker

After all the time I spent in the air, getting on the no fly list would have been a blessing. I don’t ever want to get on a plane ever again if I can help it.

Oh my God, Clinton has a new campaign ad, with a man in full KKK robes endorsing Trump. She can sink no lower.

Hey, Clinton here is my reaction to your “aghast” routine.

Hey media, same reaction to your praising Clinton for saying that Trump isn’t a racist, he just says racist things. It’s not “being an adult” or being “reasonable” it’s being a coward. If you are showing shit with the KKK endorsing him, what she really means to say is don’t vote for the scary racist. She should woman up and say what she means.

The Dangerous Temper Tantrums of US War Hawks

The fact that the government of Bashar al-Assad is still standing after the West has spent the last five years trying to overthrow it is too much for many in the US to accept. Furthermore, with a growing number of major powers forming strategic relationships outside of Washington’s control, US imperialists are increasingly terrified of how the geopolitical landscape is shaping up.

The Strategies of Global Warfare: War with China and Russia? Washington’s Military Design in the Asia-Pacific

It is important to focus on Southeast Asia and East Asia in a broader geopolitical context. China, North Korea as well as Russia are potential targets under Obama’s “Pivot to Asia”, involving the combined threat of
missile deployments, naval power and pre-emptive nuclear war.

  • MsPythia

    Jeff Weaver Built That.

    • SpiffyTheValiant

Honestly, I don’t know how much it would have helped to fund it more. It might have helped around the edges, but for God knows what reason, many black voters felt some sort of loyalty to the Clintons. I don’t know if it was just name recognition or what. But many of them automatically dismissed him and it didn’t help that the only time the media really talked about Bernie was to say, “OMG HE CAN’T WIN MINORITIES!”

      • MsPythia

The older ones felt loyalty to the Clintons, not the younger ones. Weaver dropped the ball on that, and it’s one of many, many reasons that the 13 leaders of “Our Revolution” reject the presidency of Weaver at this new organization. Weaver was also responsible for coming into states and rejecting all the organizing that had been done before the official campaign got there — which is NOT how people who believe in bottom up movements behave.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

He made serious progress towards the end.

But in all honesty, he never was able to recover from the beatings in the South.

-_- seriously, I know that they are more conservative down there, but there was no reason for 80-20 defeats.

          • MsPythia

Jeff Weaver is responsible for a lot of mistakes the campaign made, because he was making a lot of decisions on where the money would go — and he had a lot to do with the fact that younger black voters in the south and elsewhere were not reached out to. I think it’s clear that his leadership of Bernie’s new organization will see similar missteps because he’s an arrogant type. Even when all those people walked away in protest, his statements on that showed he didn’t care how they felt.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

He’s always seemed good to me on tv appearances. but I guess I wasn’t really watching the mechanics of the campaign either.

          • MsPythia

He was okay as a spokesman, but the criticisms here are about how he ran the campaign, and how he didn’t show any respect towards the people who organized, and wouldn’t listen to any criticism over what he was doing. Again that touches on why these people just left Our Revolution in protest. They think his idea to spend a ton of money on TV ads shows he does not understand, or does not respect the fact, that this is not how grassroots organizing works.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • The_Fixer

Umm, Fraud? Seems like a good enough reason for an incredible split like that.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Lol how do I say this without sounding like a bitch.

It’s the south, I don’t think they felt they had to use fraud.

          • The_Fixer

I suppose that’s possible. All they had to do is call him a Communist and that was a good enough reason for them to hate him.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

That and the Clintons are originally from Arkansas right?

          • The_Fixer

True. He had the Ozark vote all wrapped up by pretending to care about them. Hell, he got ’em good jobs in a chicken packing plant.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            lol ouch.

          • The_Fixer

What was funny is that, for one of the few times in recorded history, the Republicans were right about something. I remember them saying, when Bill Clinton promised jobs aplenty for the American People, that those jobs were going to be low-paying, low-end service jobs and not decent manufacturing jobs. That’s what we got, and as an added bonus, it didn’t stop with him. It sent a precedent and what are most of the new jobs we see today? Low-end, low-paying service jobs.

The Clinton legacy – you can all have jobs, but they aren’t good ones that will allow you to prosper. Oh, and that safety net you thought you had? We’ll take that away, too.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            sounds liek them.

          • The_Fixer

Because they gave the gullible voters false hope and seemed like they genuinely cared. Therefore, you must vote for Clinton II. The country shall be Hillarized because that tactic will work again.

It must work – she is owed it, of course.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • Shohanna

Nope, He used the word himself Socialist. That’s all it took. People around here are ignorant. Straight up.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Sorry to our southern friends, but that region overall is Republicanland/Dinoland for the most part. I know there are liberals down there, but yeah.. they are outnumbered.

          • Shohanna

Yes we are, and the 80/20 isn’t too far out of line for around here. IF i had a bumper sticker on my car for Bernie they would trash my car. I am not kidding here. 80/20 sounds NORMAL.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

There’s a story on RS about how someone murdered a family’s dog, because they had a Clinton yard sign. (Somehow, I doubt that was the reason. But you know anything to make Clinton supporters look like victims. Shame about the dog though.)

          • Shohanna

Hmm, I haven’t heard it on the news but it’s not too far off. People fucking hate socialists around here, including my parents. You don’t go around announcing you are liberal. **shiver** It’s only disclosed after you find out if they are liberal first. Usually by key words. LOL Sounds strange I know. but people beat LGBT around here. On a regular basis.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Yeah I know people steal yard signs and slash tires, but killing a dog?

          • Shohanna

*shrug* I can’t say for sure as I would never do such a thing. But dude, the police are killing people here. A dog is nothing to them. /sigh

          • SpiffyTheValiant

;/ yeah but i don’t think it was the police in this case. (I mean it might have been…but I don’t think it was.)

          • Shohanna

I have seen them do some nasty crap in my years here. And hurting dogs, cats, pets is not at all out of bounds. You gotta understand they are so cliquish here, that I am STILL an outsider 30+ yrs later. I wasn’t born here. I am a transplant from Utah. I speak different STILL, and I am so liberal that just a few words outta my mouth brands me as an outsider.

They do not accept “others” and if you are labeled as “other” holy hell your life turns into one hellish episode after another. Especially if they KNOW IT.

“Bless your heart” is an insult for a reason. They hide their motives. They lie straight to your face and wouldn’t think twice about it. I spent my young school years being bullied until I decided no more and I fought back, with everything I had. I got suspended, I spent time in in school suspension. I also was with drawn from school b/c my parents took on the demeanor and the actions of everyone around me. You would swear both my parents were fucking born here.

Nothing would surprise me. Nothing. My brother threw my hamsters out a 3 story house to watch them fly. Just for pissing him off. My parents punished ME, and left him to his own devices after showing this psychotic symptoms. At 10 yrs old. People do not recognize mental health issues. They don’t fucking care about anyone but themselves. Religion is just that. Fucking religion if you aren’t a part of it, you are the devil and you deserve to be “Deviled” on. I fucking hate it here. I want nothing more then to move, FAR AWAY! And never come back.

I spent most of my time, making sure my girls did NOT get this “cultured” into them. I fought it at every nook and cranny, which is why I am so fucking tired of it. It’s also what helps me enjoy the “empty nest” now. I don’t have to worry about it. They are on their own and if they pick this shit up, it’s on them. Not me. My youngest moved the fuck out before she even hit 17. She graduated and applied to college and was out before her 18th birthday. She comes to visit obviously, but you can tell she hates it here too. I know, long explanation but sometimes it’s necessary to show just how nasty it is here. SURE there ARE some good people. But I haven’t met them. IF that tells you anything.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

@.@ Yeah… I know you don’t have the money to move, but if you did, I would get the fuck out of there.

          • Shohanna

I am pinning hopes on the lottery. /sigh HAHAHA

          • EdgarHF

The swift boating of Sanders by John Lewis right before the Southern Primaries did not help. I include that as part of the rigging by the DNC.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

You don’t want to get me started on John Lewis XD

        • SmotPoker

The whole idea of “Our Revolution” is a big fucking joke anyway. Ain’t nothing going to change until a few heads are busted. It’s just the way of the world. No real change has ever occurred merely by using words. EVER.

Everyone wants omelets, but nobody wants to break any eggs.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Here we have a picture of smot as he typed that.

A very, very, very slow Wolverine….

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            lmao indeed

          • MsPythia

I agree with Jill’s assessment, to paraphase: you can’t win a political revolution while remaining inside of a counter-revolutionary political party. It’s a losing proposition, and it’s already off to a bad start anyway when the people who were most committed are allowed to walk away because Weaver is being put in charge.

          • panem et circenses

There are plenty of us willing to break all the eggs and throw out the carton, but nobody’s willing to listen. People are still convinced that you can change the system separating the haves from the have nots by design just by electing new leaders to reform it.

    • panem et circenses

Tad Devine was the strategist. I couldn’t stand him. He’s a weasel who looked like he was lying even when he was telling the truth.

      • MsPythia

Yeah, I don’t like him either. He was establishment (worked for Hillary, was a Monsanto lobbyist) before coming to work for Bernie’s campaign, and I’ve heard his company made something in the neighborhood of 4 million off of Bernie. Most of the missteps that were made can be attributed to Devine and Weaver.

Saudi Arabia using cluster bombs on Yemeni residential areas: UN

The UN human rights office says the Saudi military is using cluster bombs against residential areas in Yemen in violation of international law, blaming the Riyadh regime for most of the civilian casualties in its impoverished southern neighbor.

Lot of former Berners on Twitter are outraged that Bernie did not mention Tim Canova last night. It appears that there has either been a falling out, or maybe Shillz demanded that as part of stumping for her, Bernie cannot help the challenger to her girl Debbie?

Bernie Sanders’ consultants exit Tim Canova’s campaign

weird it hoguth he was helping him.

      • MsPythia

Yes, and he always mentioned him before, so it’s odd…

        • SpiffyTheValiant

I suspect Hillary had a gun to his head at some point.

          • MsPythia

Who knows `_(ツ)_/¯ All I know is that it’s one more thing to be dismayed over with how Bernie has handled things since he endorsed Her Royal Heinous.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

  • Nancy

indeed…so much for hope and change.

    • SmotPoker

Put hope & change in one hand, and shit in the other, and wait to see which one gets filled first….

Hope, and Change was dreamed up by some nobody, and adopted into a slogan. The right slogan for the right time, and it fucking worked.

took so many of us by surprise.
        what a let down.

        excellent Ms.

        • MsPythia

Good morning to you too, Nancy! 🙂

      • The_Fixer

I think that it has become abundantly clear that she is not like a gangster, she is a gangster.

Capone had nothing on these people. They have murdered more and have made far more money than Capone could ever dream of. The difference is that Clinton probably will not die of syphilis, or at least it would be covered up effectively if he did.

  • SmotPoker

My paralyzed brother is pissed off now. The ramps are done at my other brothers house, but the bathroom renovation is not, and they told him it would be a couple of weeks before they would be back! We are all like what the fuck? You’ve known this was needed to be done for 2 months now, and you still don’t have it together?

Told my dad he needs to get on the phone with his case manager, and demand they use a different outfit then, as this shit is unacceptable. Completely unacceptable. There are definitely more than just one fucking contractor capable of doing the job, and following the blueprint. I got a list of help a 1/4″ thick of resources available for him. This is bullshit.

Of course my dad being the perpetually pissed off person that he is, passed that info along to my kid brother with no thought at all about how he’d take it. If there was one thing I could change about the old man, it would be his lack of empathy for things that don’t directly concern him. His bedside manner is for shit. Good thing he’s not a doctor. He’s one of those folks that thinks there is only one way to do things, his way, and every other way is wrong. Won’t listen to save his fucking life. It drove my mother up a wall, and it’s doing the same thing to me. I’m tired of being the one to talk his ass down, and be the reasonable one.

My kid brother now thinks that he just doesn’t give a shit about him.

“Ik n now I’m stuck bcuz someone wasn’t going to take care of their invalid son” was the last message I received from him last night. I know how he feels, but my hands are virtually tied. I live in a townhouse type unit with a flight of stairs to get to the living area. He can’t come stay with me. I suppose the bright side is that he will be living in an on site apartment attached to the hospital there for the next couple of weeks, so that will give him a taste of what he faces in the future living alone or outside the realm of a hospital room.

Fucked up as it is, spending a couple of weeks there in an apartment just might be a good thing for him. I dunno. I know I’m powerless to do anything for him, and my mothers words of “take care of your brothers” as she lay dying are ringing in my ears.

    • SpiffyTheValiant

      *hugs the smotty*

      • SmotPoker

It’s crazy Spiff. I don’t scare easily, and being in a vehicle with him is scary as fuck. He tailgates EVERYONE, demanding they get out of his way, spends the whole trip bitching, and getting angrier by the minute about traffic. Now imagine doing that on two 2000 mile round trip trips. Ugh. I appreciate his help, don’t get me wrong, but fuck man, that shit gets old. I must have told him that the place would still be there a dozen times just to calm him the fuck down on each trip.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          awe *hugs tighter.*

          • SmotPoker

Alright now, we’re different sexes, and ain’t married. Gotta leave some room for Jesus between us….

          • SmotPoker

That reminds me, how are you holding up since your recent loss? It’s heartbreaking when we lose a four footed member of our families. Truly heartbreaking.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Pretty good, considering. I kinda expected it. he was not a young cat.

          • SmotPoker

Love doesn’t acknowledge age, you know that kiddo. Glad to hear you are taking it as well as can be. I saw a picture of my previous dog that I had for 17 yrs who died a week or two before my mother, and busted out in tears myself yesterday. I miss her so much, both of them.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

awe sorry to hear that *hugs*

          • SmotPoker

It shows that I’m not the heartless bastard some believe me to be….

          • SpiffyTheValiant

<3 never thought the smotty was heartless.

          • SmotPoker

Tell you what Spiff, there are plenty of days I wish I were a black hearted bastard, then none of the horseshit I see on a daily basis would bother me at all. Hell, I’d be running the joint if I didn’t give a fuck about others.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • Shohanna

I had my best friend for 12 yrs. He was just too much human to be cat. Honest to God, this cat was my Best friend. He licked my tears!! He comforted me, he would get agitated if I was, and if I didn’t talk to him and let him know I was alright. I cried so hard when I had to put him down. Hertz flea meds killed him. I spent 10k on my credit cards trying to find out what was wrong and make him better. He never got better I was so fucking angry.

This is him a year before we moved to Cincinnati, and him dying.

          • Nancy

            *goes and hugs my puppy*
thanks for sharing that…they are indescribable unless you have had a pet like that yourself.
sorry to hear that it was over something like that.

          • Shohanna

**hugs** It’s gotten better but I will always cry on Sept 25. /sigh

          • SmotPoker

I took my Coco to see a dog neurologist, and he determined through a quick test that she was suffering from doggie alzheimers. Wasn’t a damn thing we could do for her. I had to put her down when she stopped eating. The poor thing would just go around, and around in circles for no damn reason, lay for a few minutes, then repeat the cycle. Very frustrating to see something you love deteriorate like that.

          • Shohanna

Aww that’s awful. But she had a good life b/c of you. You did the best for her. I know the feeling. Sending snuggle, fuzzy hugs and purrs to you.

          • SmotPoker

Yeah she did. Her original owner was set to go to jail, and a girl friend of mine asked me to take her to his place to pick her up, and take her to the pound. I entered the back gate of her yard, and she came running to me, and put her paws up on me, and it was love at first sight. No way in hell was that dog going to a pound.

          • Shohanna

Awww, OMG! That reminds me of how I met Cheobaby. My BF’s Mom had a litter of siamese kittens. They were about 6 weeks old and omg adorable. I went over and was sitting about 4 feet away cause Momma’s don’t like strangers all that much. HE CRAWLS BLIND to me. I picked him up and we snuggled. He ran his whole face over me.

Well couple weeks later, BF tells me if I want one I have to get it now cause his parents were moving out of state (never did figure out why, they moved back in state a year later.)

So I rush over and same thing, he crawled out to me. He knew I was there for him. Yup, I nursed him for a good 3 weeks and transitioned him to food and kitty box trained him. Rough 3 weeks. But it was SO worth it. He slept with me every night until the day he died. I would wake up with a rats nest from him giving me baths. LOL He took showers with me. SHOWERS!! **smdh** wonderful, awesome strange cat.

          • Shohanna

It’s always the little things that bring me to tears. I am sorry for your loss Smot! <3

          • Shohanna

            **slight jealous side eye** (giggle)

    • MsPythia

So sorry Smot. ♥! Will your brother be getting a in home healthcare worker to help with some tasks? I’m sure he’s probably eligible for this through Social Security, if it hasn’t been looked into yet. Also, if he needs emotional support going forward it might help him to look into seeing if there are any programs for para and quad folks at the local hospitals where he’ll be living. I have a friend who does that here where I live — he’s personally been in a wheelchair his entire life, but because of that he’s great at helping people who are newly dealing with paralysis, and shows them how it’s possible to lead the fullest life possible for them.

Just a few ideas — I’m sorry for all you’re dealing with. (((Hugs)))

      • Shohanna

        ETA: Wrong poster sorry MsP!

        • MsPythia

          NP Sho!

      • SmotPoker

Yeah, he will have some home health care visits, and we are working on different things for him.

        • MsPythia

Good — his getting help outside the immediate family will be great for him, and will also lower the stress level for all of you. <3

    • Shohanna

I bet you couldn’t suggest he see a therapist for his road rage huh? My Mom needs a therapist for other reasons. She is unreasonably attached to me. She calls me day and night. She freaks out if I don’t answer the phone. If I continued to not answer the phone I am pretty damned sure she would call 911 and have them at my door. She drives me up the wall. Why?

B/c I know for a damned fact that it has to do with control rather then any love for me. You can hear sincerity. You can feel it. She doesn’t mean a damned word of love she says. Not only that but I can’t carry a conversation with her to save my life. She walks the fuck off while I am TALKING WITH HER. I have been in the middle of a sentence and she just walks off and gets in her car as if what ever I had to say meant nothing. It’s the most HURTFUL thing she has ever done to me. She does it every time I tell her to leave me the fuck alone. Or even she asks me a question about fucking googling, her phone, her maps, or anything else and she walks off before I even get the answer outta my MOUTH.

I can connect and understand your frustration. You know what I do? I fucking avoid it. I refuse to talk to her about any goddamned issue. I won’t let her control the conversation. She talks to me I walk off. I show her exactly just how hurtful and inconsiderate she is. She then complains to my Dad and he mentions something I tell him, “when she stops doing it so will I.”

      Posted to wrong poster. :/
I understand your car is kaput at the moment and you have to wait to get a new one. Just block him out. Close your eyes and count to 10 or however long it takes you. I KNOW how dangerous it is when he is driving, but it’s important that you don’t give yourself a heart attack over it. Deal with it before or after you get out of the car. If you can manage it, tell him you won’t ride with him anymore, that he scares the crap out of you. Or your own health can’t handle his driving. When/If he realizes how much it affects you, maybe he might calm down.

But all my hugs, I hope it gets better! Sending good thoughts to you.

  • Don’t have a lot of time to post today. Just wanted to say hello to everybody and drop off a few videos.

First one is by democracy Now concerning Our Revolution and the staffers who quit.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgLyFrQYu0s

    • MsPythia

      good morning Stephanie! 🙂

    • panem et circenses

Ugh, even Democracy Now is doing the “fair and balanced” bullshit and bringing some toadie in to give a counterargument to the truth.

      • 17

Democracy now, and Amy in particular, were infected long ago.

        • panem et circenses

I’ve never been a big follower, but I was under the impression that they were better than Fox and CNN.

          • 17

            So is Diarrhea.

          • Blue Basilisk

You know what CNN stands for? Certainly Not News!

        • Dosido3

Ooohhh, I didn’t realize that. But then again I didn’t watch. Some lefty I am.

          • 17

Most people don’t want to hear it, just as most didn’t want to believe that Rachel Maddow was infected also. But you can’t hide the truth.

    • Nancy

      afternoon Stephanie!

      • Afternoon Nancy:^) I hope your day, indeed I hope everybody’s day is going very well.

Don’t mean to post and run but I’m running myself today. Won’t have time until much later tonight.

        • Nancy

lol, that happens-will catch up then!

    • MsPythia

I don’t understand your comment… Join the Democratic Party and Our Revolution’s 501C4 or “Die”? If so, I’ll pass
on that– the political revolution can continue outside of the Democratic Party as well. And if that 501C4 doesn’t turn out to be something that will bring about the progressive change we all want, there will be plenty of former Berners who will already be outside of that who will be working to make the Green Party represent those very same issues and goals.

      • No… I’m not saying to join the Democratic Party, in the since that you support them over and above the party that you feel represents your values most closely.

What I’m trying to communicate both to Green Party members who absolutely abhor the Democratic Party and for Democratic members who cannot convince of voting for Green Party.

Know your priorities, know your enemy, know your potential allies, and above all else acknowledge,

United we stand, divided we fall.

The” join and die” was not the important part to me, “Ally or die” would represent better my thought . What I was trying to communicate was the picture itself.

You are a insanely intelligent artist. You know what that picture represents.

Ideally I would love to communicate more with you but I am so short of time at the moment.

        • MsPythia

Okay – guess I missed what you were getting at. I think it’s because there are a lot of our revolution people who are very unhappy with Green Party folks on Twitter right now and I was looking at their feed this morning. They hate that so many are not taking Bernie’s marching orders to the letter.

          • I don’t have a Twitter account I have nothing to do with Twitter, Facebook or Reddit. So I know nothing of what is going on.

It was bound to happen as Bernie sander groups split off.

I just find, it a heartache too Witness and feel.

Instead of opposing people who we fundamentally and ideologically disagree with, we instead attack each other over methodology. Wasteful amount of energy.

I find it particularly annoying when you consider how well voting presidential Green Party and supporting Our Revolution and Brand New Congress all dovetail perfectly together. There’s really no need for anybody to step on anyone’s toes here.

  • Shohanna

Good afternoon peeps! (Yes, you have been referred to as little yellow peeps we at at Easter. LOL)

Found an article that pissed me off. Figured you would want to know someone is LYING again straight through her mug.

    http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/24/politics/clinton-blasts-ridiculous-trump-attacks-on-foundation/index.html

    WTF?! Seriously. /sigh

    • SpiffyTheValiant

So their defense is, “I know it looks bad. But it’s not bad enough to be a concern. Don’t look behind the curtain?”

      • panem et circenses

It’s more like the curtain is open and you’re staring at a big pile of shit that she’s telling you doesn’t exist.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          yup

        • Shohanna

lol You made me laugh. That’s exactly what it is and we are expected to take it? Just how much bullshit do they think the plebes will take before they start pulling out the pitchforks?

          • SmotPoker

I’ve got my battle pitchfork, and a spare at the ready….

          • Shohanna

You share the spare with me? I seem to be all out of pitchforks. LOL

          • Edwin

            tons more

          • 17

But when this dam breaks, it’s gonna be glorious! And we’re gonna lose some limbs.

        • Edwin

It’s more like she’s lying and so are a lot of other people because she is the oligarchs’ choice for Emperor. 😀

” It will only accept donations from US citizens, legal residents and US-based independent foundations, and the 42nd president will step down from the board and stop fundraising.”

So she is going to have someone else launder the money (like Gates) before it hits the foundation accounts.

      • Shohanna

Right?! She is the scum on Dick Cheney’s ass.

        • smkngman3

Not ONE believable word, other than she is responsible, comes out of her mouth.

If I could still post back in the old country I would post a tom of this shit, but they banned me because I got in the way of Karoli’s propaganda stream.

      • Nancy

that’s what did me in at RS. Roxanne called them “Britebart type memes” and it was put into their TOS that they weren’t allowed.
        lol…

        • Edwin

I see. You’re need-to-make-new-TOS bad. (I find that a big turn on. Ruff ruff.)

          • Nancy

            I was proud!

          • Edwin

            I’m proud for you. 😀

Lol yeah. The magic if editing scenes just right. They aren’t together in the movie though. Shame ;/

        • Shohanna

Yes, YES THEY ARE! Take a look last movie Fred is standing WITH Luna! That’s where they got the idea for this video!!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

I mean they weren’t dating XD

          • Shohanna

Oh no, Luna had a crush on Harry! LOL kinda hard to date anyone else.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

I could have shipped Harry x Luna a lot easier than Harry x Ginny.

The “logic” of Ginny seems to be. Well she liked him. She had red hair like his mother. She’s “feisty” (or something) and thus the author shoved them together.

When Ginny first shows up and has a crush on Harry, it’s pretty obvious that Harry is surprised by it and doesn’t really return it. Yeah, you can argue he saved her in the second book/movie, but he would have done that for anyone.

I don’t hate the ship. I just am like meh. why?

-_- Ron x Hermione though, that ship irritates me!!! (sorry to those shippers)

          • Shohanna

Yeah, I don’t know why she changed them. It was originally suppose to be Harry and Hermione, but she changed it in the 3rd or 4th movie. I would have been happy with him and Luna! Luna was awesome, I named my cat after her! Luna Loony Moonstone, the cuddle caper. hahaha

          • SpiffyTheValiant

The argument really was a lot stronger for Harry x Hermione. Pretty much every time Hermione was upset, if it wasn’t because of Draco, Umbridge, the Divination teacher, or Voldemort/deatheaters… it was Ron’s fault lol.

            Yeah, Luna was awesome.

          • Shohanna

Er sorry should be Loony Luna Moonstone; the cuddle caper! Sorry was so excited to share that little tidbit I got it backwards.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            Lol no worries.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Really it’s Luna. She’s kinda like Hermione. If you really tried you could put her with almost anyone and make it work somehow.

          • Shohanna

I am not sure cause in the movie he had his arm around her, implying they were. But I could have been wishful thinking. I have to watch it again to be sure.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Fred was dating Angelina, I think. That could have just been O.O omg we are about to die, it’s going to be okay.

          • Shohanna

Good point! Still I amma watch it again. Pretty sure that’s where they got the reference in this video though. 😀

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            coolness 🙂

      • SpiffyTheValiant

The blonde girl doesn’t show up until the fifth movie. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

        • Shohanna

That’s Luna Lovegood, and yeah she does. She gets a few cameos. You just don’t recognize her til the 5th Movie. 😀

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Oh. Hmm I’d have to look more closely. Must have been in the background.

    • Edwin

I know nothing about Harry Potter except he’s a witch and the movies are full of magic. One can’t avoid seeing movie clips and bits and pieces here and there, but I have never watched one of the movies.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

*pat pat* be a good edwin and watch.

        • Edwin

something else for my to do list

          • SpiffyTheValiant

yup. Just think you’re cheerleaders will be able to give you a House and everything once you are done.

          • Edwin

I would like a house. I could use a house.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • Shohanna

            ICWYDT!! ROFLMAO!! **dies** hahaha

          • SpiffyTheValiant

took me a second but i got it <3

          • Shohanna

Oh that’s even funnier that you didn’t even realize what you did! hahaha

          • SpiffyTheValiant

The ICWYDT is what took me a second to get lol.

          • Shohanna

OH, gotcha!! sorry, Should I say it another way? I have to keep ubrandictionary bookmarked b/c people come up with new ones every damned day. LOL

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            lol nah it’s fine.

      • Shohanna

Oh honey you need to watch them! Seriously, they aren’t just for kids. The adult references will have you rolling on the floor laughing. The books are even better. I read the books before the movies came out and I had NO complaints. They got the best part of the books for the Movies with the same flavor. It’s rare that it happens!!

I have the entire collection of both the Books and the Movies and I highly recommend them!!

        • Dosido3

I really enjoyed them esp the third one with Gary Oldman. Major crush. But don’t watch the second one if you are grossed out by spiders.

          • Shohanna

The spiders didn’t bother me in the movie. The book yes b/c I had to use my own imagination! hahaha

          • Dosido3

I stand / cower with Ron Weasley.

          • Shohanna

Hahah Yeah my kids squealed when they saw the spiders and Daughter 1 started bawling. LOL

          • Dosido3

I’d be taking her to the snack bar. Quick! One cherry ICee please!

  • SmotPoker

    Grrrrrrr.

I’m losing power about every 15 minutes now for no goddamn reason. I’m trying to simply play the new Madden game that was released on the 23rd, and can’t get past halftime without the fucking power going out. I’m giving it one more shot, and if it fails then fuck it, I’ll get to writing the rest of my story about my trip, my laptop battery is fully charged, and can last for a few hours if needed.

    • Shohanna

I decided to invest in a UPS, (Universal Power Station). It cost me about 150.00 I can run a few lights, the fridge, my computer and the router for 2 to 3 hours during a power outage. I fucking love it. So far it’s saved me 5 times from power loss crashes. I had to look outside to know if the power was out. O.O

So strange! hahah However, it’s not that expensive and I got mine on Amazon. Something to think about.

      • SmotPoker

Livining in an apartment I should have no need for one, nor do I have a real place to put one. I did talk my dad into buying one last year for his place though, fat lot of good it does me….

Oh well, I should try to do something constructive anyway. My fans no doubt are anxiously awaiting the next installment of my journey to hell.

        • Shohanna

Yes, yes I am!! I want more! MOAR!! **giggles**

        • Shohanna

Oh, I noticed you said you had no space. If you have a desk, you have space it’s only about the size of a flat shoe box. 18″ long, 4″ wide, and about 9″ tall. Sits right next to my HUGE ass case. haha Tiny.

Now my computer case on the other hand… It’s nickname is Brianne Of Tarth. If that tells you anything about my ego. LOL

          • 17

What gets me though, is the cost of the batteries. It’s cheaper to replace the whole unit than to replace the batteries.

          • Shohanna

OH well mine isn’t a battery, (well it is) but it’s powered otherwise by power. When it’s plugged in, it’s charging and you don’t unplug it. And I have a life time guarantee that the batteries should not “die”.

I followed the directions. I have had it last 2.5 hours so far. It charged back up and no issues. If I DO have issues, I send it back and they replace it. That’s the guarantee.

          • 17

My first one didn’t have that kind of guarantee, and I never bought another. I only used it for my puters. Now I have a generator.

          • Shohanna

I want to get a generator, but I don’t have that kind of cash laying around doing nothing. LOL

      • Edwin

Why do you get a lot of power crashes?

        • Shohanna

The power goes out if they are working on the lines outside of the neighborhood. The construction on the road behind us, makes them turn it off if they have to extend the line down the road to the new bridge being built.

So it goes out now and then. Not A LOT but enough that I need a UPS. lol

        • 17

We lose ours out here in the cornfield because critters climb the poles and short-circuit the lines. Then a crew has to be called and then has to find the offending fuse. All takes time. Green Acres is the place to be.

  • Edwin

    Good morning, fine folks.

Our heat wave is OVER after 5 weeks of some of the grossest ever!! This morning it’s 21*C and tonight going to 17*C. That’s 70*F more or less. All week temps are in the 20s, which is just nice (70s). (No more effing 102* with humidex)

    • 17

Glad you’re gettin some relief, my friend.

    • Shohanna

That’s great Edwin!! I would be catching up on all the sleep I lost. 😀 lol

  • smkngman3

    CNN yesterday………..

“New CNN political analyst Kirsten Powers says questioning Hillary Clinton‘s health has “an element of sexism to it.”

    CNN on Trump today………..

“I don’t even know what to make of this letter,” Gupta told CNN’s Ashleigh Banfield on Tuesday, referring to a letter from Dr. Harold Bornstein, who examined Trump last December. “Whether you are a doctor or not, that degree of hyperbole and these words being used is very unusual. People don’t write like that. ‘Strength and stamina are extraordinary.’ What does that mean, exactly?”

    • panem et circenses

I’m trying to imagine how questioning someone’s health could possibly be twisted into sexism and I’m drawing a blank.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

It’s Clinton everything that isn’t praising her, is automatically sexist. You’re welcome.

        • MsPythia

They’ve been playing that game with Clinton since 2008. It’s so pathetic. Corporate Feminist bullshit.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

🙂 Where was this “outrage on behalf of women everywhere” when Carly was running?

          • MsPythia

            She’s not a Democrat.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Remember you aren’t a real Democrat if you haven’t been in the party for x number of months or years. A number they failed to disclose.

          • MsPythia

Absolutely. So for example you are not allowed to say anything about Hillary Clinton’s appearance because that’s sexist, but it was fine for them to say that Jane Sanders is fat and not attractive and wears horrible clothes because she hasn’t been a Clinton-loving Democrat like them long enough.

          • panem et circenses

The “hardcore feminists” over at Wonkette think Bill Clinton is probably a rapist, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a bad guy.

          • MsPythia

Crazy. As. Hell. They don’t even care that they don’t make any sense. It’s a cult of personality with the Clintons and their sychophants.

          • Dosido3

            It’s such a weird clique.

          • Shohanna

OmG that pisses me off so bad. Don’t even get me started on them stating that they are fucking feminists supporting rapists. GRRRRRRR **stomps to the RR to take a shit on that idea!**

          • SpiffyTheValiant

I can see them saying she is fat. She’s a larger woman. It’s very Republican of them of course (and Hillary honestly isn’t that much smaller, if anyone was being honest). But bad fashion? That’s rich coming from people who support the woman who dresses exactly like the North Korean Dictator.

          • MsPythia

As least Jane Sanders doesn’t try to hide a huge ass under heavy wool frock coats in the middle of a sweltering summer.

          • Dosido3

I really miss What Not to Wear. I’d like to see Stacey and Clinton take on Hillary. I nominate her for a makeover stat. That’s not sexism. That’s compassion.

          • MsPythia

I’m afraid to see what she’ll be wearing once autumn rolls around… Goose down pant suits?

          • Dosido3

More like military bulletproof vest from Xe, the better to goose step in.

          • MsPythia

Not to mention dodge sniper fire!

          • Dosido3

You said it not me! *waves to NSA*. Remember, Tim Kaine is the grassy knoll insurance.

          • Shohanna

Dude they would roll her in cotton candy and call it a day. Wouldn’t be much different. Not sure what they could do to create the improvement she needs. My Mom can’t even stand her and my mom wears diapers. (obvious too.. I told her but she walked off) LOL

          • Dosido3

OMG. You went there. You went to edible clothing. On Hillary.

          • Shohanna

I was looking for poof ball. Cause that’s what I think of every time I see her. Poof balls are not “matriarchal” or even dignified. She looks fucking stupid every time I see her.

          • 17

You could be one car accident away from that yourself. Don’t be shitty toward her about the diapers. See what I did there? 😉

          • Shohanna

My MOM looks like she is wearing them! I am already there tyvm. Especially when I am laughing my ass off. I have been there since I had twin girls. I have every right to talk about obvious wearal of diapers and less obvious wearal of said pee holders.

          • 17

            You’re grossin’ me out now.

          • Shohanna

            You went there! /giggle

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • Shohanna

Right?! She looks like a fucking clown with out much common sense. 100+ degree weather and she s covering up like it’s -20 outside. Someone smacked that silly bitch stupid. :/

          • MsPythia

It’s weird! Maybe she’s hiding some medical devices that need to remain hidden…

          • Shohanna

That could be possible. I think she is hiding her fat then any medical devices. But that’s my own opinion I don’t have a high one of Hillary.

          • Edwin

And why is it OK to attack Jill Stein about anything and it is NEVER sexist?

          • Shohanna

First rule, they are always right! haha

        • panem et circenses

I also remember the rumor going around the Clinton groups that Sanders was suffering from dementia from Alzheimer’s by the same people attacking anyone who questions Clinton’s health like piranhas.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            I missed the dementia thing.

          • MsPythia

They attack anyone who questions anything having to do with Clinton like piranhas. She can do no wrong, and if you don’t like her you’re a sexist, or a rightwinger, or a Bernie Bro.

          • Shohanna

You know if Bernie had stuck around and continued to fight the status quo, I wouldn’t give a rats ass if someone called me a Bernie Bro, I would wear that shit like a badge of honor. /nod

          • MsPythia

            Or a Bernie Babe!

      • SmotPoker

“Her boobs are down to her knees which leads me to believe she is suffering from some unspecified female ailment at this time….”

Pretty sure that would do it right? These folks are so full of shit it’s hard to determine fact from fantasy anymore without a scorecard.

        • panem et circenses

You can’t go wrong by going down the list and checking ‘fantasy’ for everything.

          • 17

My general rule of thumb: Everything is a gawd damned lie. Everything.

        • Dosido3

When you say “her boobs” You’re referring to Huma and DWS right?

          • MsPythia

            LOL!

        • Shohanna

I had the perfect comment and my brain went completely blank when I hit reply. I blame you Smot. Getting my hopes up and then dashing them. /sigh I can’t win.

          • SmotPoker

Happens to me all the time. It’s either early onset old man disease or I just smoke way too much cannabis. I figure either way I’ll be whacked out of my skull so I win….

          • Shohanna

At least you have that to fall back on. I just have Alzheimer’s or some odd dementia sneaking up and saying “BOO”. Almost as bad as going into another room for something and completely blanking out about what it was, you went in there for in the first place. God I hate it when that happens.

      • smkngman3

        Simply a campaign strategy.

Any question on Hillarys record that they do not want to answer is sidetracked with the attack response claiming sexism.

        • Shohanna

Just seems too easy. I mean seriously, if you are attempting to take over the “WORLD”. (Pinky reference) wouldn’t you have it planned out to a T with a little more brain power? These guys are just too fucking stupid for their own good. :/

      • Edwin

        That’s because you’re a misogynist. 😀

  • smkngman3

“The Feds are storing innocent motorist’s personal data indefinitely”

According to a Boston Globe article, ‘detailed precise’ toll transactions are being stored indefinitely by the MassDOT. The MassDOT claims, they don’t have any plans to use the information to ticket speeding motorists yet!

We’re NOT sexists,. We’re NOT opposed to Charity. WE WANT ANSWERS, not defections!

“Why Did the Saudi Regime and Other Gulf Tyrannies Donate Millions to the Clinton Foundation?”

AS THE NUMEROUS and obvious ethical conflicts surrounding the Clinton Foundation receive more media scrutiny, the tactic of Clinton-loyal journalists is to highlight the charitable work done by the foundation, and then insinuate — or even outright state — that anyone raising these questions is opposed to its charity
    https://theintercept.com/2016/08/25/why-did-the-saudi-regime-and-other-gulf-tyrannies-donate-millions-to-the-clinton-foundation/

“We’re NOT sexists,. We’re NOT opposed to Charity.”

The same can’t be said for the House of Saud who’ve given so generously to Clinton’s “charity”.

    • Dosido3

Smokey! Why do you hate democracy? We are the greatest country in the world! Don’t you want to help children, old people, sick people, black people? WTF is wrong with you man!

      • MsPythia

New Dem mantra for people who criticize Shillz: USA!USA!USA!

      • panem et circenses

Please stop, or you’ll make me rip off another wife beater and chant “USA!USA!USA!” and this is my last one.

        • smkngman3

          LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Dosido3

          You taste of America!

          • Blue Basilisk

Budweiser being renamed “America” for the summer was a brilliant move: shilled to hell, tastes like piss, just like the real thing!

      • Left of Eden

Yes, it is very wrong of Smokey to want America to fail. Bad smokey!!! Bad!!!

      • smkngman3

        What democracy?

        • Dosido3

Hey hey hey! We let you vote.

          • panem et circenses
          • Dosido3

Yikes. Is that a metaphor or are you really asking me? O.o

          • panem et circenses

            A little of both.

          • smkngman3

But do you count my vote?

          • Dosido3

Of course we count it! It may not count for your candidate, but we count it. You should feel good about that. Thank you for your participation.

          • smkngman3

Well, they did give me a sticker that SAID I had voted.

          • Dosido3

There! Now go watch some Netflix or go shopping or something. We’ll see you in 2020. Glad we had this chat.

          • MsPythia

Even if they aren’t counted! It’s the empty thought that counts!

        • Blue Basilisk

The one we impose on you at gunpoint, of course!

    • Edwin

I am a misogynist who hates charity and want answers to my damn questions.

So they are our terrorists now? or were they always……………..

“REBRANDED AL QAEDA GROUP IN SYRIA RECEIVING US WEAPONS”

In the recent push by rebels in the city of Aleppo, Al-Nusra /Al-Sham took a leading role and was reportedly among the rebels groups who received US weapons. Those weapons will first be used to kill Syrian government troops and after that, well, who knows?

    https://shadowproof.com/2016/08/25/re-branded-al-qaeda-group-syria-receiving-us-weapons/

    • Weren’t they always?

    • Dosido3

A growing market opportunity. What are you? A commie? 😛

      • MsPythia

It’s like he doesn’t even care that anyone who gives money to the Clintons are just progressives getting things done!

        • Dosido3

          she’s a giver!

          • MsPythia

            Especially to her own “charity.”

      • smkngman3

        NO!

But it seems that in order to get some of that government funding I must become a terrorist.

        • Dosido3

          Squeaky wheel and all that…

        • 17

We’ve seen your comments. You already are.

Do you remeber who was my 911 neighbor?

        • 17

          • All you’ll get for your money is old off-the-shelf PC hardware, that was overpriced when it was new. All the hype is just that, marketing hype. And to answer that “How full of shit is he?” question you’re asking yourself, I’ve admin’d sites with hundred of Apples.

Apple should stop selling four-year-old computers

          • 17

Thanks for that! Gonna give this a second thought. I’m not in need of a new puter, just was gonna give a macbook a shot. Maybe I won’t waste my time / money now.

          • Shohanna

Don’t, I have experienced the effects. Macbooks are old computer parts put together to create an apple. It’s not cutting edge like computers are, besides you are mostly paying for the name not the computer. Get yourself a new Monitor, or MB for the same price.

          • 17

I don’t NEED a new puter. I just thought I’d give the “MAC” experience at try. Sounds like I won’t care for it.

          • Shohanna

Nope! I have been asked to fix these before… I opened it up and went WTF? LOL

      • Dosido3

        It’s not a bug, it’s a feature…

(refresh for my edit – I hit post too quickly!)

          • MsPythia

Sounds like you need your own server, so you can erase your mistakes.

          • Dosido3

He should try some of these cloths.

          • MsPythia

            I bet they’re heavy-duty — like her pant suits.

I think that’s supposed to read “With a You Give Me Money Back Guarantee.”

“Diane Ravitch to Readers: Don’t Let Charter Industry Silence John Oliver”

On Thursday, longtime educator and activist Diane Ravitch encouraged her readers to start a campaign of thanks to comedian John Oliver, who devoted a segment of his HBO show Last Week Tonight on Sunday to charter schools and fraud—and is now being targeted by privatizers and other corporate propagandists on Twitter.

Charter supporters are “saying that he ‘hurt’ children, he savaged children,” she wrote, noting that this is “a familiar tactic” of intimidation that she faced after writing about dubious test-scoring methods in New York City school a decade ago.
    ——————————————
“When no one is looking, some people steal. Not everyone steals, but many do. That is why Ohio, Florida, Michigan, and California are scamming taxpayers. No one is demanding accountability. Politicians get paid off by charter friends, then cripple any effort to oversee them Ohio and Michigan spend $1 billion a year to subsidize charter schools, which are lower-performing than public schools.”

    ..So…

We’re trying to get our CAforJill.com web site – and some serious campaign activities – off the ground here. The Stein campaign uses something called NationBuilder. We looked into it and we think we should, too. (I don’t trust Act-Blue!) If you go to their web site, you can see they charge money even for small efforts. We’ll be using their software, which includes a no (additional) fee (maybe I should say no percentage taken) from donations or other payments through their software (which includes credit-card processing features). We intend to offer t-shirts, bumper stickers, posters and such and we get donations and orders from people through the site, so hopefully it self-funds.

…But in the mean time, we need the start-up capital – it isn’t much, but we’re poor working folk, under-employed and we’re donating a huge amount of our time. Our cash needs are about $90 for the Nation Builder software – going for the cheapest option here! – and a similar amount to for the bank account we connect the Nation Builder software to, so, about $180 should cover our basic expenses.

I’ve already raised about half that money… If any of you can also pitch in, it would be VERY much appreciated! You can reach me through Richard@CAforJill.org … Thank you in advance!

Anybody got the Jill Stein in Baltimore live-streaming feed OTHER than facebook?

“Fatigue, Migraines Linked to Fracking as Case Builds for National Ban”

New research published Thursday links severe fatigue and migraine headaches to hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, leading to renewed calls for a ban on the controversial oil and gas extraction method.

Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health reported their findings online in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, saying their research adds to “a growing body of evidence linking the fracking industry to health problems.”

    • Nancy

I lived a few miles away from this “crackpot” as many called him. he wasn’t wrong.

    • Shohanna

OMFG! they are blasting down the road from where I live for a new bridge from Ky to In. I have had migraines out the ass, and I was on the down slope with them. I mean migraines I am not talking about piddly little headaches. (there is a huge difference between the two and it pisses me off when people try to compare a “head ache” with a migraine!)

I HATE my migraines. They come with halos, and rainbows an hour before I get one. If I miss a tylonal in that window god help me. I spend the next 6 to 8 hours in excruciating pain, vomiting, rolling on the bed with a wet wash cloth on my head, neck, shoulders attempting to fall asleep b/c the pain is too much to bear?/bare? is there another spelling!?

It’s like some rat is crawling around in my brain eating it from the inside out. Or magma hot spikes that have staked me from both sides of my head and the spikes go in toward my heart and radiate pain outwards. I rather fucking DIE then have that particular migraine again. Once I have a migraine no amount of medicine will touch it. I have to let it run it’s course. There is no other option. One migraine I had lasted 3 fucking weeks and I ended up sterile for 18 months. NO THANK YOU. **shivers**

      • RTIII

Sorry to hear all that… …And it’s “bare.”

        • Shohanna

          Oki, haha Ty! 😀

  • MsPythia
    • RTIII

Of course not, there were improper relations between donors to Clinton Global Initiative and HILLARY using the CGI to funnel funds to the Clintons!

The State Department, per se, had nothing to do with it.

      • MsPythia

Hmmm… I don’t know about that… When Hillary was overseeing US arms sales deals to so many Clinton Foundation donors, I assume that people within the state department knew about that.

        • RTIII

Sure, but THEY (likely) didn’t know about the money.

          • MsPythia

Who knows? But, as this article pointed out:

The Saudi transaction is just one example of nations and companies that had donated to the Clinton Foundation seeing an increase in arms deals while Hillary Clinton oversaw the State Department. IBT found that between October 2010 and September 2012, State approved $165 billion in commercial arms sales to 20 nations that had donated to the foundation, plus another $151 billion worth of Pentagon-brokered arms deals to 16 of those countries—a 143 percent increase over the same time frame under the Bush Administration. The sales boosted the military power of authoritarian regimes such as Qatar, Algeria, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, which, like Saudi Arabia, had been criticized by the department for human rights abuses.

Hillary Clinton Oversaw US Arms Deals to Clinton Foundation Donors
An investigation finds that countries that gave to the foundation saw an increase in State Department-approved arms sales.

Some damn link on here led me to another link after I watched it on Youtube that I found to be interesting, and educational enough that I passed it along to my kid so she might get a better grasp of the world she lives in. Enjoyed the Thomas Jefferson quotes in there as well. I know a strictly gold standard isn’t the answer either though.

Wow, 30minutes I put it on the “to do list”. I need to get some dishes done and I am on count down for my game. I want to get all my toons caught up before the expansion drops on the 30th. I want to be able to play my main and not worry whether I still have stuffs to do on the others. Yes, I am ocd like that. I am also very organized and blah blah you get the drill.

But I promise I will watch it soon. 😀

    • 17

They call us nuts when we try to point this out.

      • Shohanna

I have had “conspiracies” don’t exist and banned off the board from whence my comment was posted. Boing Boing to be exact. LOL

        • 17

Back in ’08 or so I was banned from C&L, Alternet, Mother Jones, and a few others because I didn’t buy the 911 bullshit.

          • Shohanna

Yup! I wasn’t banned from the other ones. Just boing boing for pointing it out and showing that Jet fuel can’t melt steel beams if so, our planes would be crashing on our heads. LOL

“Manchin to review Mylan response to criticism over EpiPens”

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin says he’s concerned about skyrocketing prices for life-saving allergy injection pens made by a company headed by his daughter.

In a news release Thursday, the West Virginia Democrat says he plans a detailed review of drugmaker Mylan’s response to criticism about the cost of EpiPens.

Manchin’s daughter, Heather Bresch, is CEO of Mylan. She told CNBC Thursday that lowering the price wasn’t an option.

*Hillary clutching pearls* Trump is really racist people! Omg *wags finger* how could he? Don’t vote for him. he’s evil.

    • Shohanna

Instead of listing reasons to vote for her. Isn’t that just “telling”? **smdh** The woman is a damned disgrace and I am embarrassed to be a woman b/c of her.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

Like she thinks she’s pointing out something no one noticed before. OMG HE’S RACIST (no one would have noticed without her wagging her finger)

        • Shohanna

Right? So damned childish. I want a fucking ADULT to run our country!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            I mean I can’t argue that he’s racist.

But the submilinal message makes me sick.

He’s the bad guy. Look at these awful racist people. Don’t you want to be part of the good guys?

          • Shohanna

While the “good” guys deny the police are killing people indiscriminately and getting away with it. While the “good” guys set up the economy to make sure that people will never achieve the fucking “American Dream” and propagandize them into believing they are doing it for their own good. Grrrrrr

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

      • Nancy

here are all the reasons they are voting for her:

        • SpiffyTheValiant

That just makes shivers wiggle up my spine. It’s BAD news people. She is bad news! Trump is bad news. God I wish there was a chance in hell that Jill could be elected. **sigh**

The Clinton Foundation was FORCED to refile their tax forms because they FAILED to disclose foreign donors!

“Clinton defends foundation, says it has been transparent”

Clinton called into CNN’s “AC360” to address Trump’s suggestions that the foundation started by her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had been used to facilitate a pay-for-play scheme during her time at the State Department.

“What Trump has said is ridiculous. My work as secretary of state was not influenced by any outside forces. I made policies based on what I thought was right,” Clinton said. She said the foundation had provided “life-saving work,” adding that neither she nor her husband had ever drawn a salary from the charity.

    • Shohanna

Oh, btw smokey your links is fucked, you need a space after “charity.”

    • Left of Eden

Wait a minute. Hillary must be telling the truth (again). Any potential impropriety or appearance of impropriety regarding the Clinton Foundation has already been debunked at C&L.

Paul Begala Slams Double Standard Of Clinton Foundation Critics

Paul Begala has had it with those who say Hillary Clinton somehow
engaged in “Pay to Play” with the Clinton Foundation. The AP story is
so full of holes, and the attacks so partisan, that the whole argument
reeks of desperation both of a media that insists on a “both sides”
narrative to the campaign, and the losing losers of Trump World, who
want to grasp any straw that might give them an edge against the Next
      President of The United States.

Oki enough! I am going to play my game. Laters peeps.. *damn now I want a peep!*

Off on the magical mystery tour. If I’m not back by noon tomorrow….call the authorities. It was MURDER.

  • Nancy
    • SpiffyTheValiant

This is all over the news. Frankly, unless someone died or was injured, I’m tired of it lol.

      • Nancy

I like his version of it.
I agree…enough, but then along comes John and it’s “just one more!”

        • SpiffyTheValiant

I mean are we supposed to be surprised that a bunch of US atheltes apparently acted like overgrown frat boys? I haven’t read any of the stories. I just know that he and his buddies did something at a gas station and pretended they were robbed. Honestly, my impression is they were drunk and full of themselves. I don’t think anyone was hurt. So I think they should just pay for any damages, say sorry, and let’s move on here. I don’t think that this man’s life should be ruined because he was an idiot for one night.

          • Edwin

And it’s a great publicity stunt so everyone in the world knows his name, no one was hurt, and he can make a Gazillion-trillion dollars. He’s pretty and has a bod and tight Speedos (I looked)– Ka-Ching$.

After Winona robbed Saks didn’t they hire her as a model? (or something like that)

          • Nancy

actually all this sponsors dumped him…
            he’s toast.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Nah. He can write a book about it and I”m sure he had money before this happened. But overall yeah.

          • Nancy

fuck, he can hardly speak in sentences, he’s going to have to split the money with a ghost writer.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Lol you don’t think that Hillary and Sarah Palin wrote their books alone, do you 😉

          • Nancy

Sarah Palin jumped immediately to mind as I was posting this.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            lol

          • Shohanna

At least Sarah can form a semi-coherent sentence. This dude has issues.. **smdh**

          • Nancy

isn’t that the bottom when Sarah looks like the smart one in the room?!

          • Shohanna

ROFL! I would say that’s a definite fact there!

          • Edwin

For now. Others are picking him up. Just wait. He’ll make it good with cod or something and America will forgive.

As Samantha explained (Sex & City): First you get the gays, then the girls, then everyone else.

          • Nancy

lol, we’ll see. he’s lucky he looks good-that’s about all he has going for him!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Damn good swimmer too. This is America. We overlook domestic violence in the NFL if the player is good, I imagine that his athelticism will override the temporary outrage.

Obviously, I mean that in general. Not a reflection of any of our posters here.

          • Edwin

If it were a sex scandal he’d be done. Violence and shit is OK. If you kill under 3 people you can still be America’s next millionaire.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Lol nah. If it was a sex scandal, he’d be roger ailes :))

          • Edwin

Considering that’s about all most Hollywood “actors” have these days… I mean, really, a lot of them can’t act, but boy do they ever look good.

          • Nancy

yes, he’s slated to go on Dancing with the Stars…lmao-the place where people go to rehab their reputations!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Hmm someone will get an attractive dancing partner. Yea, he probably will be on swimming with teh stars.

          • Nancy

do they have that? I know there is “stars on ice” but a swim one too?
            ;-P

          • Edwin

If they don’t they should make one.

          • Nancy
          • Edwin

            Ouch.

Who can forget what’s-her-name who fell in love with what’s-his-name in a swimming pool filming that movie (whose title escapes me). The synchronized swimming queen of B&W movies who had a welt in her head from them pinning tiaras to her skull for the pool scenes.

            (going to research)

          • Edwin

Esther Williams. She fell in love with a swimming co-star in one of her movies.

          • Nancy

            lol.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

No. but i thought it was a good pun, since he’s a swimmer.

          • Nancy

            well done!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

ty. (actually idk if it exists. but i bet it would be popular.)

          • Edwin

Ha ha. That’ll fix him up good.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

He’s lost a lot of endorsements over this. (I have to admit he is very attractive.)

          • Edwin
          • SpiffyTheValiant

o.o He is very “happy” in that picture.

          • Nancy

too bad he opens his mouth-dumb as a box of rocks.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

We can gag him. We can work with this >:)

          • Nancy

I am waiting for the comments about being sexist!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

IDC. Every straight woman, gay man, and bisexual person was thinking it.

          • Nancy

            lol…

          • SpiffyTheValiant

You lol because it is true. It’s true about him and your Prime Minister!

          • Nancy

no, I am looking at the double standards here.
how many people would be upset if this was done to a woman blah. blah. blah…

          • SpiffyTheValiant

More people. but it would depend on the woman. As long as it’s not a woman on your team, it’s generally considered okay.

Example how everyone treats Sarah Palin vs Hillary.

          • Nancy

            yes.
            yikes.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Democrat: Sarah Palin is a stupid bitch.

            Republican: SEXIST!

Republican: Hillary Clinton is a stupid bitch.

            Democrat: SEXIST!

          • Nancy

            exactly-Hillary is fat-sexist.
Jane is fat-of course, and dresses funny too!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • Edwin

Do you mean me, parading him about like he’s nothing but a piece of meat?

I am a misogynist, the worst kind of sexist there is.

          • Nancy

I have noticed that about you Edwin.

          • Edwin

            I haven’t heard him speak.

          • Nancy

            watch the John Oliver video…

          • Edwin

I’ll put in on my to do list. This stuff piles up fast. 😀

          • Nancy

I know-it’s a 4 minute one but it totally shows just how illiterate this guy is.

          • Edwin

Oh. Usually his are about 20 minutes. I got about 2 hrs of ‘need to watch’ queued up. You know how it is.

          • Nancy

I do know how it is!

          • Edwin

Ha ha. Friggin’ hilarious. What a meathead. I’m thinking he’d better stick to Calvin Klein underwear billboards.

          • Nancy

            right?!

          • Nancy

this is about standards for athletes that represent the countries.
bad timing to do that in another country and to represent themselves like this.
the lie and what it created, is the issue.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            >.> yeah. I know that’s the excuse. But let’s be honest. The US isnt represented by a bunch of swimmers. Our real mascot are drones.

          • Nancy

lol…not sure that it’s an “excuse” I think there is an effort to maintain some integrity in the games and this was a perfect opportunity to make a spectacle out of him.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

The Games are a joke. They are just about showing off. I don’t see any dignity in them.

IDK why they are even bothering with him. Do they actually think the USA is ever going to allow anything to happen to these men? This is a dick measuring contest, to me. I don’t see this as being anything noble about “representing our country.” But that’s just my impression.

          • Nancy

sure…that impression explains your opinion about this but there are many others that see it differently and are honoured to compete with the best of the best.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Yeah. I know some people take it seriously. But I still think that this country was like >:) Ah ha, finally we can prove the Americans are assholes. No one is going to shove us around.

and the usa is like ~ -_- damn it…

I mean really what are they trying to do? They want to put them in prison in the country where they committed the crime? Do they actually think the U.S. is going to let that happen?

As for the gas station owners, just think how much free publicity they have gotten out of this :)) I imagine they are making a killing.

          • Nancy

they lied and made Rio look worse than it already is.
that was the point-they said they were robbed at gunpoint-the police were looking into it and discovered it was bullshit. the US started it-too bad he did. this didn’t end well for them.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

          • Edwin

There was a time when I felt that was true. And I’m sure it’s true for many athletes still. But it’s also become a corrupt money-making bonanza and everyone has dollar signs in their eyes. Winning gold means you cash in.

          • Nancy

sure it does…they should cash in-they are some of the most underfunded athletes going and spend a fortune on their sport often without much compensation early in their careers.
regardless of the $$$ there are athletes that are honoured to be there and win.

          • Edwin

I guess. I haven’t watched ’em in 20 years so what do I know?

          • Nancy

            lol…
no worries. it is corrupt in so many ways-I feel bad for the athletes that aren’t and just want to compete.

          • Edwin

I see bits and pieces on Korean TV. They only show the stuff where Koreans can win a medal and fuck the rest of the other shit. They show it over and over and over again. 😀

Then it’s all played up like the glory of Korea and the wonderful, talented, graceful, fighting Koreans show the world how it’s done. Everyone beams with pride, tells themselves how fabulous they are, what a fabulous people they belong to, and what a fabulous country they live in!!! Etc., etc.

It’s weird to watch that stuff as an expat. Really makes you stop and think!!.

          • Nancy

            ewww…so much nationalism!

“I Didn’t Serve, I Was Used”: How Veterans Are Losing the War at Home”

While the contest between Trump and Clinton fills the media, the big money is evidently going to be aimed at selected states and municipalities to aid right-wing governors, Senate candidates, congressional representatives, and in some cities, ominously enough, school board candidates. The Koch brothers need not openly support the embarrassing Trump, for they’ve already proved that, by controlling Congress, they can significantly control the president, as they have already done in the Obama era.

Fully 100 percent of them have attacked Clinton’s Republican rival, celebrity businessman Donald Trump.

Live in a swing state? These ads have been unavoidable.

So far in August, Priorities USA Action has aired more than 2,100 ads in Florida — about one ad, on average, every 15 minutes. And in Ohio this month, Priorities USA Action has so far aired more than 1,800 ads — an average of about one every 17 minutes.

“Israeli forces kill youth two months before his wedding”

The army said that when soldiers stopped the car, Abu Ghurab exited the vehicle and attempted to stab a soldier in the neck and was shot dead.

A soldier was reported to have been lightly wounded during the incident. He was treated at a hospital and released.

Photos from the scene apparently showing Abu Ghurab’s body still seated in the car which he was driving, and soldiers evacuating his body from the vehicle, appear to contradict the army’s account that Abu Ghurab exited the car before he was shot dead

Confession. I am barely following your election now. Since Bernie is “over” I can’t get inspired. I wish Jill luck. (Because I am a foreigner, I can withdraw a little and keep my fingers crossed.)

I guess a lot of people will be going to Hell, women who don’t vote for Hillary and anyone who criticizes the Clinton foundation.

AS THE NUMEROUS and obvious ethical conflicts surrounding the Clinton Foundation receive more media scrutiny, the tactic of Clinton-loyal journalists is to highlight the charitable work done by the foundation, and then insinuate — or even outright state — that anyone raising these questions is opposed to its charity. James Carville announced that those who criticize the foundation are “going to hell.” Other Clinton loyalists insinuated that Clinton Foundation critics are indifferent to the lives of HIV-positive babies or are anti-gay bigots. https://theintercept.com/2016/08/25/why-did-the-saudi-regime-and-other-gulf-tyrannies-donate-millions-to-the-clinton-foundation/

Every single thread today is about Trump. Now we’re going to hear nothing but “Alt-Right” bullshit. They just post the stuff Brock/DNC sends them.

    https://youtu.be/tGauADOQWPE

    • SpiffyTheValiant

      hmm black opts?

    • towerofbabel

Good interview. Awareness seems to be the key to resisting this. The solution is get out of the market for stuff. Don’t buy anything that isn’t necessary. Get out of the market for entertainment. Don’t watch anything your friends send you. Always assume everything is marketing until proven otherwise. Don’t trust any media. Always remain skeptical.

      • The problem is, we can’t be that kind of aware, 24/7. I know when I tried, I found, looking back, that I was only successful about 30% of the time.

Then, a computer named Joshua taught me the real secret:

        http://4closurefraud.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Not-to-play.jpg

Now I simply choose not to play, be default (for instance, not owning a “smart” phone.) If I choose to play, I acknowledge right then and there, that I’m allowing myself to be used/stolen from/bamboozled, up front.

The best part of said tactic is that I no longer have to try to kid myself that I’m a special, unique snowflake, with the super-powers required to not fall for what every other human being will fall for, because we’re wired that way! 😀

    • s k

Good interview, the sad part is people will be lining up for the next iphone.

iPhone or iExploit? Rampant Labor Violations in Apple’s Supply Chain:http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/37363-iphone-or-iexploit-rampant-labor-violations-in-apple-s-supply-chain

      • My experience has been that it’s because, by and large, almost everyone, fucking everyone thinks they are the one person who’s completely resistant to these techniques. I get howls of protest every time I try to point out to people that such modern marketing takes advantage of automatic, unstoppable responses/behavior triggers that are hard-wired into the human brain, and not me, or them, or anyone can resist, mostly not even if you’re aware.

Seriously: People do seem to really think they are unique snowflakes, better than the rest of us.

        • s k

Marketing just like political propaganda works, I always have to check myself to make sure I am not being conned AGAIN. Even when some people know they have been conned they will still defend it.

          • kreskin

Helps to be aware of it .

          • They do, they really do. And sadly, it’s even worse outside of politic than inside. Like Apple owners, for instance. They’re charges 150-400% more for standard PC hardware, 4 year old hardware these days, but insist it’s a better value than a bog standard PC… And that’s just the tip of that. See: Pokemon.

Really, modern marketing grew out of political propaganda, then both were super-charged by the growth of knowledge in Psychology. That’s why the work of people like Bob (Cialdini) are so important to know, thoroughly

“Multimillionaire CEO Pledges to Make EpiPens More Affordable”

In a press release, the company stated they would provide an instant savings card worth US$300 to patients without insurance or high deductible plans, which amounts to nearly a 50 percent price cut.

The drugmaker will also expand the group of patients who are eligible for financial assistance, adding that families of four with a household income of US$97,200 or less are eligible to apply to receive a two-pack of the device for free.

Just finished watching a video on Jill’s facebook page. If you have time, you might like to watch it too. She speaks to a young homeless veteran in Baltimore or really she lets him speak for himself. Then she allows another young man from the GP talk about why he’s running for a position in the city’s government. Finally she relates a third story (because the young man didn’t want to talk on camera). THIS is why I love Jill. She is out there with real people, trying to address real concerns and alleviate suffering. We couldn’t hope for a better candidate for president.

Thanks noti. It’s nice to have a candidate that inspires us. We have to get Jill into the debates one way or another.

So tired. I really hate Android. Well I finally have my Win 10 virtual machine set up. Our app is experiencing the same problem though, basically it can pair with the hospital scales but it just hangs when trying to get a new measurement and only on LG devices.

I had to implement a stupid fix where it shuts off the radio and then turns it back on before it connects with the scales as that fixed the problem with HTC devices. I removed that part while testing the LG today and accidentally left the part where it decides if the radio has been turned back on. I was testing, connected, crapped out then it times out so it closes the connection. At that point as the radio is then set to ready again, it tried to connect again and that time it worked.

I really don’t want to shut off the radio, turn it back on, open a connection, close the connection and try again to get the stupid thing to work. I hate Android.

It’ll be better once the workday is over. Still need to do more testing, then figure out how to work that workflow in and then test with the other handsets. Bah!

I hope you have a good day though.

        • notisaidthepig

D-Day is fast approaching for me. I’m eager to meet the kids and just get started. Enough already with the planning and the meetings. I have a feeling though that I’m REALLY going to be exhausted next week. Mercifully, because of Labor Day, we have a long weekend right after that first week. Pretty smart to plan it that way, actually.

Co-created and written by McDuffie with art by M.D. “Doc” Bright, Icon represented an intentional shift from how the black heroes of previous decades were presented. Augustus Freeman wasn’t “street” and didn’t traffic in the jivey slang that characterized Luke Cage and other inner-city crimefighters. Icon #1 established one of the ongoing themes that series would touch, an exploration of what individuals and society owe each other. Raquel’s low-income realities don’t afford her the resources to make her dreams of becoming a writer come true while Augustus realizes that his upper-class elitism has cut him off from the world around him. He’s so out of touch that he thinks he can just fly down and offer his help to the cops dealing with a hostage situation.

I’ve never forgotten the two sequences where Rift talks about how each hero was and wasn’t able to participate in society at large. The term “white privilege” wasn’t in popular usage, yet McDuffie uses the characters as metaphors for practices that have been around for centuries.

    • Not my usual read, but very interesting.

      • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

I only read a few of the Milestone comics when they released, not enough funds plus some of them were a bit on the gory side.

        • I’ve got them all in Comic Book Archive (CBR) format, if you want.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

            Tempting 🙂

        • Some of the worst gore that I’ve ever read was in the Dune series. Good books.. Chapter House was my favorite but the gore was hard for me too read.

          • notisaidthepig

Oh, I love Dune! Gore? Do you mean the original novels written by Frank or the bazillion sequels from his son and that other guy? Admittedly, it’s been a while since I read them but I don’t remember “gore.”

          • I like Dune, a lot.

“Messiah” was a hot mess, read it once.

“Children” was almost as good as “Dune.”

Everything else I skipped or didn’t finish for artistic reasons. I have never read one of The Child’s Dune books.

          • notisaidthepig

That “trilogy” is really a complete story about the dangers of looking to anyone as “savior.” Dune is rightly considered a classic of the genre and, really, an important work regardless of its genre trappings. Its focus on environmental issues, for example, put it far ahead of its time.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

            Spice == Oil.

          • LOL

          • Um, yeah, first read Dune in 1978, spent a lot of time with these novels, I’m well aware of the themes they encompass. My review, short though it may be is certainly not out of ignorance of their themes or background.

And, well, Herbert did not intend Dune as a trilogy, originally. See the fact that “Dune” was originally serialized as two short novels, “Dune World” and “The Prophet of Dune” (I actually own originals of the issues of Analog in which they were published*) He then re-wrote it, lengthening it, but it still took a few years for it to get published. There’s actually no evidence that Herbert intended to write a trilogy, until after the reworked single novel was published as a single novel, and gained success.

Herbert spent 7+ years working on “Dune,” and it shows in its literary and intellectual excellence. “Messiah” was was rushed out about 2 years, and it shows: The novel is poorly plotted, intellectually haphazard and just plain feels rushed. I’m not alone is this assessment, in fact, my criticism is rather conservative.

Herbert spent, again, almost 7 years on Children, and it’s a much better match to Dune, literarily and intellectually.

*I own a complete run of Analog magazines.

          • The original…Chapter House was the last book that Frank wrote in the series, before he passed. However I think you’re correct that the books written by the Son were particularly gory and I read those as well.

          • notisaidthepig

I read one or two by his son but there was such a stark difference and Dune is one of my most favoritest books in the whole wide world that I couldn’t keep reading them.

          • Absolutely correct. The talent and style is markedly different.

In the Sons defense though, he freely admitted that his talent came nowhere near his father’s.

That must have been quite a burden for him to have to finish a task that his father started knowing that he didn’t possess the talent to carry it through in the same manner.

          • notisaidthepig

I thought I read that Frank had one more book to write to finish what he wanted to accomplish but, of course, death intervened. 🙁

Brain and Kevin have churned out SO many books that it comes across as just a money-making scam. Kinda sad.

          • I am unaware of how many books he intended to write before he passed.

But I would have to agree that there are far too many of the books written by the son.

          • notisaidthepig

Here’s a footnote from the Wikipedia entry for Frank Herbert:

Neuman, Clayton (August 17, 2009). “Winds of Dune Author Brian Herbert on Flipping the Myth of Jihad”. AMCtv.com. Archived from the original on September 21, 2009. Retrieved March 31, 2014. I got a call from an estate attorney who asked me what I wanted to do with two safety deposit boxes of my dad’s … in them were the notes to Dune 7 — it was a 30-page outline. So I went up in my attic and found another 1,000 pages of working notes.

“The Tax Evasion Double Standard: How US CEOs Are Withholding Revenue”

In reality, though, the Government Accountability Office estimated in 2013 that the average effective corporate tax rate is only about 17 percent, including state and local taxes — about the same as an individual who earned $37,000 a year. And right now we are basically paying taxes to them: We buy Apple’s products, they stash the revenue overseas, and then we pay for the roads, water and technologies that their business depends on. It’s average working Americans who are most hurt by this type of corporate tax evasion.

In 1952, about 32 percent of federal revenues came from corporate taxes, and only 8.7 percent came from payroll taxes. In 2016 though, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities reported that the corporate income tax only accounted for about 11 percent of federal revenues, while the payroll tax accounted for closer to 33 percent of total federal revenue.

Yay, I’m finally back! Been so busy with first week back at college, but also Tuesday morning, got to campus, sat down to use my laptop and kill time before class only to discover it was dead! • notisaidthepig

No, I didn’t hear about that. I went to the Presidential Election Forum here in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and heard Johnson, Stein and Bill Clinton speak. It was cool to watch live.

        • It was truly wonderful.

My son and I had just got done touring Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell we got to see the Quaker house and Thomas Jefferson’s house on the outside only for they were closed.

And then we walked a fair amount of Philadelphia to go see Jill Stein and Chris Hedges.

The outside of the building was new, but an older part was attached to it. It looked like an old courtroom. It was really hot and it was so profound because the room had the same feel as Independence Hall and I thought this is what our forefathers must have been feeling hot and physically kind of miserable, while exploring all these wonderful ideas.

It was packed absolutely packed from top to bottom.

‘Ghost galaxy’ made of mysterious dark matter discovered by scientists”

When scientists looked at it further, they found that it was not just a normal set of stars – but instead a ghost, made up of dark matter. Though it has about the same mass as our own Milky Way galaxy, only one hundredth of one per cent is made of up of the normal matter like stars, dust and gas that surrounds us.

Rather, it is 99.99 per cent made up of dark matter. Nobody knows what exactly that is, how it came about – or even how a galaxy could have arisen that looked that way.

An alternative is that our understanding of gravity, or more specifically, Einstein’s general theory of relativity, is wrong in some fundamental aspect. I can’t help but think of the turn of the 20th century and belief by the scientific community in the ether, and the tenacity they held on to the belief in its existence in spite of compelling evidence to the contrary (Michelson/Morley experiment). I get the feeling that we are at a similar impasse here, and that the evidence for the existence of dark matter rather reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the force of gravity.

Thinking I should probably try to get out in front of it, but damn I hate to waste the medicine if it’s not going to be a migraine this time.

    • kreskin

My wife get migraines occasionally , horrible .

      • SmotPoker

Yes, yes they are, and migraines suck too….

Tip your servers, and try the veal.

We must be having a change of weather coming up for the season here soon. I get them when I don’t eat right, and I had a good meal today or when the weather changes over. Sadly, if it’s the weather/change of seasons then I’m fucked because I’ll get a few of them a week until it settles in.

        • Shohanna

Dude, I had laid down cause I was so tired. I woke up from nightmare, and sitting here feeling one come on too. Think it’s a weather change. /sigh

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            *hugs*

          • SmotPoker

I’m pretty sure that’s the case as well. I get them real awful during the changing of the seasons. No diet in the world can save me from them.

          • Shohanna

Me neither. The pressure change is enough to set it off and I am fucked.

          • SmotPoker

Smoking a bit of cannabis right now, and it’s calming the fuck down, but I’m leery as for how long.

  • kreskin

Now it’s the rabid one , Tantoras , shit canned and filing a law suit against Fox and Roger Ailes … claiming sexual harrassment . http://www.mediaite.com/online/cnns-stelter-on-tantaros-lawsuit-tremendous-amount-of-skepticism-within-fox-news/

They fired the token brunette? Say it ain’t so.

      • kreskin

I just found out . LOL . She’s one of the worst , I swear that thing is rabid !

        • SpiffyTheValiant

She has to compensate for not being blonde. I mean she did evey thing they wanted.

Disclaimer: Yes, he crazy bitch actually said this.

She even victim blamed rape victims on college campuses, saying that they shouldn’t have drank any alcohol and it was essentially their own fault. Because if a girl passes out drunk from drinking too much, “What else are they supposed to do?” (I’m not making that up.)

          • kreskin

The stuff that bad dreams are made of … that one

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup

    • Edwin

I wonder how many of them were hitting on (“Jack-o-lantern”) Greta van S.

      • Dosido3

In her defense, Greta is the only one that dresses professionally. Everyone else wears a “rubber band” dress and wonder why they get ogled.

        • Edwin

They need a plain Jane. That way all the old perverts at home can point her out to their jealous wives: See, honey, it’s not JUST tits and ass.

eidt: think of it as an extension of the “fair and balanced” policy

    • Dosido3

Well Andrea, don’t roll in the mud if you don’t want to get dirty!

      • Edwin

Our JIMMY (Dore) has a video today. I posted it somewhere. It’s a good one.

  • Edwin

You couldn’t ask for a nicer day here. The morning rain stopped, temp in mid-70s, sunny, dry, blue blue sky a few puffy white clouds and a cool gentle breeze. I’m in heaven, as is everyone that just slogged through that 5-week fucking gross heatwave!! Autumn is here and it’s lovely in NE Asia!!

    • Dosido3

      Enjoy!

      • Edwin

This is the nicest time of year in this part of the world, September and October (even November.) It’s doubleplusnice!

    • SmotPoker

I’m always telling my dad to quit bitching about his time in VIetnam. The US government was nice enough to send you on an all expenses paid trip to Asia with all that pleasant weather, and you have the gall to complain about it. The nerve of some people.

      • Edwin

        Vacation paradise.

        • SmotPoker

I know I enjoyed my trips to Singapore, and South Korea. Good times, good times indeed. Didn’t much care for Taiwan though.

          • Edwin

I’ve seen a lot of Asia. Never thought I’d ever get over here and now look (19 years later.) Asia is down to earth/unpretentious.

          • SmotPoker

Not a big fan of the food (not a veggie guy, and they are chock full of veggies) or of their seeming lack of understanding a persons “personal space” which as an American, I’m pretty used to having. I get it though, they have spent their lives on island nations where space is at a premium so you get kind of used to it I suppose. Not a fan of standing in line somewhere, and feeling someone’s breath on my back or nuts to my butt….

I guess it’s just the ugly American in me, I dunno, just used to having my personal space. It didn’t take long for me to start slamming shoulders on the sidewalks just like they do without even the most modest of efforts to get out of the way. I was stunned the first couple of times that shit happened. I was like WTF? I’m a 6′ tall, 180lb, white man, there is no fucking way you didn’t see me.

          • Edwin

Lots of cultural things to get used to. (They think we’re weird too.) Tons of great food, Not sure what you mean about that.

I’m used to Asia. I know how to navigate all the stuff now. No problem.

          • SmotPoker

The food thing is just with veggies being so prominent in the diet is all. I’m not too big on fish either which is another staple. I do enjoy the spicy chicken or beef dishes I can eat around the veggies, love the rice, and good curry when appropriate. I’ve just always been a picky eater ever since I was a kid.

          • Edwin

I love veggies, but don’t like fish.

It took me a while to get used to Korean food, but now I love it (not all of it, but a lot of it.) I also like Japanese. I loved Thai food right away- great spices. I like good curries. My sister (who lives in Malaysia) cooks good Malay food.

          • Edwin

Oh. I love every kind of veggie except eggplant and maybe okra (not sure).

          • Edwin

A lot of the Chinese miracle doesn’t interest me one bit. I could see going to the Himalaya/Tibet, but not the big cities.

      • 17

Yeah. The orange rain was a nice touch.

    • Shohanna

Give back the weather. LOL /jk Glad you have something nice to brighten your mood.

      • Edwin

I was certainly feeling crabby and exhausted. So was hubby. I worried it might get ugly. He has heat rash and wakes up all night long. I woke up to take showers. Not good for sleep or living.

        • Shohanna

No, no it’s not. I am sorry! <3

          • Edwin

Now it’s lovely. I’m worried about the winter cold. ^.-

          • Shohanna

You have someone to snuggle with to keep you warm. hehe

    • kreskin

90 / 91 here today , same is forecast for tomorrow ( Friday ) . Supposed too cool off Saturday .

      • Edwin

Our heat wave was brutal. Worst ever. So glad it is over. Couldn’t take much more!!

Now our highs this week are mid-80s with below 70 at night. Perfect. We were over 100 most days, with humidex, for 5 weeks.

  • EpiPen did not actually lower their price — it’s just another Pharma scam

On Thursday morning, it was widely reported that Mylan responded to consumer outrage by lowering the price of the drug by 50 percent. While that may be true on the surface, the company didn’t actually change the price at all. The drug company’s rollout of EpiPen price cuts only applies to uninsured and underinsured consumers, who are given a $300 savings card while still having to pay roughly $300 more for a package of two EpiPens. However, the market price of the EpiPen remains the same.

    • SmotPoker

I just want to live long enough to see these greedy corrupt bastards hung by their ankles from light posts, and beaten like pinatas. I don’t ask for much do I?

I’m with you. And the list of the eligible is long.

I loved it when Coulter’s book “In Trump We Trust” drops the same day Trump backs away from earlier pledges on immigration sending her into a rage.

Pictured: Ann Coulter braying away in a rage.

    • Shohanna

That’s the funniest thing I have read all day! lol

      • SmotPoker

You can tell she had some work done on her teeth, it’s a big improvement.

        • Shohanna

She has made some moola. It is an improvement. lol Not that she would use it. OH did I say that out loud?!

    • kreskin

I saw that Limbaugh was having a good laugh about it on his radio show today .

  • Shohanna

So this nightmare.. Is really disturbing me. I am still freaked out about it.

    • SpiffyTheValiant

*pat pat* we are here for yous.

          *awes and hugs*

  • Edwin

Anyone checked in on the kids lately? It’s been too quiet over there.

    • Shohanna

Nopers. I gave them a side a beef a bit ago. Figured they would fight it out on their own. hahaha

    • SmotPoker

Nope. I was told to fuck off, and this is me fucking off.

      • Edwin

It was fun to kick them around for a couple of days, while in shock. Now I’m not the least bit interested in those fuckers.

    • kreskin

TBR ? Oculus Veritas spent several hours posting stories again today , no other sign of life that I could see . : )

      • Edwin

OV says good morning and good night every day and they just friggin’ ignore him. (Maybe he’s Ricki?)

    • towerofbabel

Smot tried another humanitarian intervention to no avail. I am wondering if Neb and Ricki are one and the same? OV?

    • The_Fixer

The other day I checked in and found that Neb had thanked OV for posting. That was two days ago and the only one making posts is OV. Ricki’s last post was 5 days ago, and nothing from Neb since his exchange with OV.

I don’t think Neb is a Ricki sock puppet. Nor do I think OV is a sock puppet. I think he is basically on the level, says that he was not there as a result of being banned, he just wandered in one day and is not part of the big exodus. But I do think that he has a lot of time on his hands and seems to enjoy posting stuff that few people will see and fewer will read. Probably a decent person, just has no involvement or investment in this conflict. I can understand that, but Jeez, didn’t he read what went down? Apparently, he did not even read any of the links to Plum’s place the night of the big blowout and didn’t want to know of any “unpleasantness.”

The silence over there is deafening. I would be very, very suspicious and cautious these days. Either those two have given up, which I doubt, or she is more than likely trying to exact revenge.

I don’t want to give rise to paranoia, but do note that it’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you. I suggest that everyone here be extra careful about what you reveal here and other places, and expect dirty tricks. She’s proven that not only is she capable of such things, she’s willing to do them.

Be careful and stay safe, everyone.

  • SmotPoker

It’s official, I’m calling it a migraine. I will be taking the medication for it. I ain’t fucking around with this shit in the morning. I take a hit of cannabis, and it subsides momentarily, fuck. I can’t stay up all night smoking cannabis every breath, I mean I could, but I shouldn’t, I really shouldn’t….

    • Edwin

Get some rest. Hope you feel better soon.

      • SmotPoker

Dat’s the plan. Getting rid of the glare of the screen, and laying down for perhaps the night, perhaps a few hours. Only the Shadow knows…..Bwuahahahahahahaha

        • Edwin

I don’t get headaches. My sister gets migraines. (I’ve never had a headache in my life.)

    • Annaleigh

      Hope you’re feeling better.

    • I feel for you. Stay in the dark, try to sleep. But do consider the bright side: When I suffered from migraines, in my 20s, there was absolutely no medication that my doctor could prescribe, to help.

  • The_Fixer

Here’s a former outsider who is now an insider taking on Drumpfo der Clown. He’s doing a fine job of drumming up the FEAR THE DRUMPF and wants to take it to the next level:

    http://americablog.com/2016/08/please-support-campaign-stop-donald-trump.html

I don’t think he is doing this for the money, but rather to aid the Clinton machine. What’s hilarious is that he thinks she is a progressive. Isn’t that cute?

Oh, and he is a little bit late to the game…

    Good morning!

    Another story the MSM ignores.

From #NoDAPL to #FreedomSquare: A Tale of Two Occupations: http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/37378-from-nodapl-to-freedomsquare-a-tale-of-two-occupations

While the world watched the Olympics, and reporters echoed Donald Trump’s latest absurdities, Black and Indigenous freedom fighters were holding space in revolutionary ways, and their struggles continue.

On the Standing Rock Sioux reservation in North Dakota, Natives have been encamped for 146 days, in an ongoing effort to thwart construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. In Chicago, Black organizers with the #LetUsBreathe collective have created a living, breathing community space in the shadow of the infamous Homan Square police compound — a facility that some call a “black site,” where people have been held for days on end without being able to contact loved ones or an attorney and where some have been tortured.

Speed Traps, Ticket Quotas, and Policing for Profit

At what point does traffic enforcement become more about revenue than about safety? It would appear once speed traps become the preferred method. In this video, Officer Wylie is able to churn out revenue like a
well oiled machine, writing 355 tickets or more in a single month. How? Well, cities like Carrollton, TX are investing a great deal of money in equipment to make revenue generation by police officers a quick and
effortless task. With single purpose and revenue generation equipment they are able to tax citizens with minimal effort and time. This video shows just how efficient policing for profit has become.

  • Left of Eden

Not sure what to make of this. Was the video doctored to prevent viewers from seeing that Clinton was speaking before a largely empty room? That seems to be what the article is saying. Surely, somebody must have caught it on a recording device or other.

    https://memoryholeblog.com/2016/08/26/video-manipulation-suggested-in-hillarys-nevada-speech/

Ah, yes the video beneath the article alleges that the event was somehow manipulated to make it appear that the audience was much larger than it was. There is speculation that Image Metrics was used to make it seem that either the crowd was much smaller than it was in actuality or that Hillary was never there to begin with on account of her failing health.

I’ve seen videos of tanks rolling through wallmart parking lots. I’ve watched footage from 3 separate police dashcams show no kids being evac’d from Sandy Hook Elementary. I’ve seen video of injured patrons being carried to a nightclub in Orlando.

      I don’t believe a gawd-damned thing I see on TV. And I certainly don’t believe a gawd-damned word I hear from that box either.

Justice Department Pressed to Intervene When Police Arrest Grassroots Journalists

Across the country, civilian journalists have documented government violence using cell phones to record police activities, forcing a much-needed national discourse. But in case after case after case after case, the people who face penalties in the wake of police violence are the courageous and quick-witted residents who use technology to enable transparency.

France’s Highest Court Overturns Burkini Ban In One Town, Other Challenges May Follow

The court invalidated the decree banning the burkinis for the city of Villeneuve-Loubet. In its ruling, also issued in English, the court said, “The mayor’s order had seriously infringed, in a manner that was clearly illegal, fundamental liberties such as the freedom to come and go, religious freedom and individual freedom.”

I don’t get this at all. Am I missing something, or are they basically trying to outlaw the wearing of clothes?

      • cathyx

Not clothes in general, just burkini’s at the beach.

      • The_Fixer

It’s basically an anti-Muslim and pro-assimilation thing, from what I gather. These people apparently aren’t being “French Enough” because they want to continue a cultural tradition.

Mind you, I have problems with the Burqa. To think that women should somehow be responsible for controlling men’s “urges” by requiring them to be super-modest is sexist and promotes irresponsibility. The men should have the intestinal fortitude and good sense to be able to control themselves, even if a woman is naked.

But as I have freedom to wear what I want, so do these people, whether it fits into the narrative of what is considered sufficiently “French” or not.
