Luxury Sunday (Open Thread)

Best known to Americans from “The Mighty Boosh“, Noel Fielding’s solo effort, “Luxury Comedy” is a tour-de-force of absurdist, da-da humor. Not for everyone, but if you like it a little, you’ll love it a lot!

It’s a show that’s hard to describe, but let’s let Wikipedia try.

Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy, is a British surreal comedy television series written and directed by Noel Fielding and Nigel Coan. The initial format for the series changes after the first season, with season one being a surreal sketch show. The series stars Noel Fielding, his brother Michael Fielding, Tom Meeten, Dolly Wells, and occasionally Rich Fulcher, Dave Brown, and Richard Ayoade. The first episode premiered on 26 January 2012 on E4. The music for the first series was written by Noel Fielding and Kasabian‘s Sergio Pizzorno, a good friend of Fielding’s, under the band name Loose Tapestries. It is described on the Channel 4 website as “a psychedelic character based comedy show half filmed and half animated”.

Is there some comedy, tv, standup, etc, that you love, but no one seems to know about?

“Fifteen Years After 9/11, Neverending War”

IN THE DAYS after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, when Congress voted to authorize military force against the people who “planned, authorized, committed, or aided” the hijackings, few Americans could have imagined the resulting manhunt would span from West Africa all the way to the Philippines, and would outlast two two-term presidents.

Today, U.S. military engagement in the Middle East looks increasingly permanent. Despite the White House having formally ended the wars Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands of U.S. troops and contractors remain in both countries. The U.S. is dropping bombs on Iraq and Syria faster than it can make them, and according to the Pentagon, its bombing campaign in Libya has “no end point at this particular moment.” The U.S. is also helping Saudi Arabia wage war in Yemen, in addition to conducting occasional airstrikes in Yemen and Somalia.

Fifteen years after the September 11 attacks, it looks like the war on terror is still in its opening act.

Senators Burr & Feinstein Look To Bring Back Bill To Outlaw Real Encryption

Back in May we noted that the ridiculous and terrible anti-encryption bill from Senators Richard Burr and Dianne Feinstein was dead in the water. The bill had all sorts of problems with incredibly broad and vague requirements, but the quick summary was that tech companies would have to figure out a way to backdoor all encryption, because if they received a warrant, they’d be required to decrypt any communication.

Rather than get the message that this was a really, really bad idea, it appears that Burr and Feinstein have just gone back to the drawing board, trying to recraft the bill.

Massive Prison Strike Expands to 26 States Over Dismal Conditions and Forced Labor

Prisoners are protesting the exploitation of their labor by corporations that use “insourcing,” meaning work normally done by salaried workers is now done by prisoners paid pennies on the dollar. The strike was organized by a coalition of prisoner justice advocates, including the Free Alabama Movement (FAM), The Ordinary People Society (TOPS), the Southern Movement Assembly, the Prodigal Child Project, the Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee, and other organizations.

Demonize and Distract: Sanitizing Syria for the Masses

The arch pragmatist Machiavelli once wrote that, “If you watch the ways of men, you will see that those who obtain great wealth and power do so either by force or fraud, and having got them they conceal under some honest name the foulness of their deeds.” You couldn’t pen a better description of the relationship between the imperial corporate state and its supplicant media. Once the coffers of vulnerable nations are ransacked by American wars of aggression, it is the media that sweeps the crimes of state beneath a carpet of piety.

Second Asteroid In A Month Sails By Without Us Detecting It First

Do you want extinction? This is how you get extinction.

Know what’s really comforting? When a completely unobserved asteroid snuck up on Earth at the end of last month and went whizzing by our planet like a golf ball, without so much as a “Fore!” from any of our detection systems. And it happened this week. Again.

    • To me, this kind of thing is why colonizing other planets is such a priority: We just never know when *BAMF* we’re facing a world of hurt. Having a backup-plan, of any sort, in addition to vastly improving detection is, to me, almost as important as changing our civilization to battle climate change.

Even just a small colony on the moon could be the seed-bank humanity needs to survive such a surprise catastrophe!

More weirdness. The Clinton presidency is going to be like the reign of Henry VI. Everything is going to unravel and evil forces will be unleashed.

      • Seems just as likely she was bored and, being completely oblivious to what’s going on around her, just told her handlers to say it was a “medical issue,” when she just didn’t feel like standing there.

Notice the head bobbing? I guess she is joking around in this one too.

          • cathyx

The head bobbing was part of her not being able to walk, i think. And then right as she was about to step in the van, she falls down and they catch her.

Head bobbing/nodding is a sign of Parkinsons.

Old age, as far as I knew. I don’t remember it ever being mentioned that she had a terminal illness. She just became increasingly weak and frail.

            Sorry about your grandmother.

Sure, I’d send the hired thugs to get my shoe too, damn thing probably cost her five grand.

    • panem et circenses

When’s it stop being sexist to wonder wtf is wrong with her? She’s becoming “allergic” and disoriented more often than not in her public appearances now.

      • towerofbabel

I’m detecting a sexist inflection in that question.

        • :^)

          • towerofbabel

We can’t be too careful. The sexists are everywhere and some don’t even know they are sexist until it’s pointed out to them.

          • panem et circenses

Repeatedly and preemptively, in case anyone else gets the idea that questioning anything at all about Hillary Clinton is somehow not sexist.

    • MsPythia

          • MsPythia

I think Hillary has Parkinson’s Disease.

          • cathyx

She would have more tics if she did, i think.

          • MsPythia

She’s getting shots to deal with it, I think. But her symptoms all fit Parkinson’s.

          • cathyx

I’ve seen Michael J Fox over the years since he’s had it. They don’t seem that similar.

          • MsPythia

His his came on very fast. Other people who have the disease can have it come on more gradually. You could be right though — maybe it’s something like a neurological or seizure disorder, but that wouldn’t explain the coughing fits…

          • cathyx

Does one have coughing fits with Parkinson”s?

          • Nevin

Someone posted they think she has Meniere’s disease.

    • SmotPoker

I can see he’s quite animated when he’s telling the story, but the CC doesn’t really do it justice, making many of his words nonsense. I get he’s telling a story about how all the males in his family get hit by lightning. but it is really jumbled up word salad at times.

I bet him, and I would get along like a house on fire.

The world needs more story tellers.

      • towerofbabel

Kevin has that jumbled-up style, you’re right. There is always a jumbled catharsis in his pieces.
But story telling is a wonderful art–and I don’t mean Hollywood. It’s the individual teller that counts.

        • SmotPoker

Does he make a living doing this? Talk about your dream job.

          • towerofbabel

He kinda does. His wife is a photographer, of animals, really beautiful stuff. She sells them and publishes books. She is very active in the anti-pipeline movement and has probably been at the protests in ND. So they live modestly and healthily and get by. I guess. Kevin was born with the short arm disfigurement, if I can call it that. He claims it was a gift that changed his life. In the 90s he was in a motorcycle accident (he had a Russian two stroke bike jury-rigged to accommodate his arm. His story of recovery of anger, recovery and transcendence is profound. Even his description of being hit is funny and ironic.

“Barbara Lee’s Lone Vote on Sept. 14, 2001, Was as Prescient as it was Brave and Heroic”

Despite this broadness, or because of it, the House of Representatives on September 14 approved the Resolution by a vote of 420-1. The Senate approved it the same day by a vote of 98-0. The lone dissenting vote was Democratic Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California, who – three days after the 9/11 attack, in a climate of virtually full-scale homogeneity – not only voted “no” but stood up on the House floor to deliver this eloquent, unflinching and, as it turns out, extremely prescient explanation for her opposition:

Barbara Lee is my representative, and I’ve always admired her progressive stance, her lone vote against the war, and the job she has done in Congress. But then this primary season she surprised me by supporting Hillary Clinton rather than the true progressive candidate, Bernie Sanders. It’s bullshit that she did that, and in doing so has fallen far from where she once stood in my estimation. I believe it’s time she had a progressive challenger to her seat.

  • Another important, underlying issue, in the massive strikes prisoners are engaging in, as we speak.

Criminal Justice Debt: Forcing Poor Black Americans To Pay For Their Incarceration

Donna Murch, an associate professor at Rutgers University, joins Rania Khalek and Kevin Gosztola on the “Unauthorized Disclosure” weekly podcast to talk about her report for Boston Review, “Paying for Punishment.” She talks about “criminal justice debt” and how black Americans are more likely than whites to face municipal court judgments for debt collection. Murch describes some of the devastating economic consequences of making people pay for their incarceration. She also addresses the rise of the electronic monitoring industry as a form of “offender-funded justice.”

    Corrupt and Deranged

The war on terrorism is a mother lode. The enemy is whomever the government deems it to be, wherever the government chooses to fight it. The war itself creates more terrorism. Victory cannot be defined; the war will go on as long as the current ideology remains in place. It enriches the military-intelligence-industrial complex, but a war-without-end welfare program is clearly deranged, a fitting target of satire. It will continue indefinitely because its beneficiaries have far more incentive and resources to promote their interests than the rest of us have in promoting peace.

Here is another angle to Hillary’s fainting spell.

    https://twitter.com/johncardillo/status/775000466304315393?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

    • cathyx

      I agree with john cardillo.

    • Something is definitely very wrong there.

      • cathyx

You should hear her apologists, they’re saying it’s 103 with the heat index.

        • panem et circenses

You’d expect more people to have succumbed to the heat than just Hillary Clinton, if that were the case. Nearly everyone I’ve seen in videos and photos with her is dressed similarly. They also didn’t bother to remove her jacket or anything else.

          • Annaleigh

I used to be prone to at least one near-fainting session a year in August due to the heat/having to stand around. That was 100+ degree weather. I would never get heat sick like that in 79-80 degree weather. If I was on the verge of fainting it would be for other reasons. So I call bullshit on the heat exhaustion story, unless of course, Stephanie is right and the heat exhaustion comes more frequently because Hillary has something else very serious going on.

        • The odd thing is that could be heat-related for ultimately people who suffer medical conditions are more susceptible to heat exhaustion. Doesn’t change the fact that there is an underlying medical condition.

        • towerofbabel

Add to that the heavy pantsuit and the boa and you’ve got heatstroke.

        • MsPythia

They’re saying it was only 79-80 degrees. No one else was fainting.

          • cathyx

103 is supposed to be factoring in the humidity I guess, making if feel like 103.

          • MsPythia

Yeah sure — that must be it!

    • MsPythia

      Her legs stopped working.

      • Nevin

          • Nancy

          • MsPythia

She should drop out. If she keeps going, trying to act well when she’s sick, she’s likely to have a full on episode in public at some point.

          • Nancy

            I hope she does.
she is no good to anyone and it’s only her insatiable need for power that is keeping her in the race. she needs to obviously crash and fall hard to have anything resembling a wake up call.
            clearly-she is not paying attention.

          • MsPythia

They need to stop making excuses and tell us what’s really wrong with her.

I don’t want to wish her ill. But if she has any integrity, and for her own sake too, she should step aside.

          • Nancy

“But if she has any integrity”
            won’t happen then-she has none.

          • cathyx

If she had integrity, we would probably be voting for her.

        • cathyx

Her health seems to be getting worse, or at least it’s showing more and more since she’s in the spotlight now. I have to think it’s progressing. My guess is they keep her in the race, get her the win, then have Kaine take over.

          • MsPythia

            I think she’s got Parkinson’s Disease.

          • towerofbabel

            Would that cause episodic problems?

          • MsPythia

It is probably being managed with drugs- and she would have good and bad days. Today was 9/11 so no matter how she felt, she was expected to appear.

          • towerofbabel

They are just hood ornaments anyway, let’s face it.

  • Nancy

    afternoon/morning
hope you are all enjoying the day!

    • MsPythia

      Hi Nancy! 😀

      • Nancy

        Ms!
always lovely to see you around!

        • MsPythia

          Thanks, you too!

  • longtime carpenter lurker

Seems like the very bad, no good, super terrible week is gonna get worse. Heres how the wapo is framing the “heat related” “fainting” issue.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/11/hillary-clintons-health-just-became-a-real-issue-in-the-presidential-campaign/

Between that framing, and every news org under the sun asking for permission to use the video linked downthread, the snowball may be rolling now.

    • panem et circenses

Yeah, it “just became an issue”, if you ignore the fact that people have been questioning her health for months and she can rarely seem to get through a few hours in public anymore without coughing fits or worse.

      • longtime carpenter lurker

Thing is not how we all see it, but if the media finally starts focusing on it.

I’m betting this gets swept under the rug by 5pm, but if it gets legs, great.

        • MsPythia

          It will be on Fox.

    • cathyx

They can deny and make excuses all day long, but we’re not stupid, as much as they want to think we are. We can see that video and see that this isn’t something to brush off lightly.

    • Nancy

I am amazed that she hasn’t released her medical records.
not that I would believe anything that was said. she is a liar…that is never going to change.

    • panem et circenses

The simple fact is that there is zero evidence that anything is seriously wrong with Clinton. If suffering an occasional coughing fit is evidence of a major health problem, then 75 percent of the country must have that mystery illness. And I am one of them.

That 75% of the country coughs for 4-6 minutes straight in the middle of summer seems like the kind of “fact” that requires some type of evidence.

anyone got a pic of hrh sweating?

I’m trolling raw atm and cant stand to do an image search of her bloated lying mug

    • smkngman3

If she was sweating, it wasn’t because of the heat.

      • longtime carpenter lurker

eh, got people claiming she doesn’t sweat at all.

And I was thinking, maybe without an inch of foundation, or an hour of hard work we could put that theory to the test, but god knows she wont lift a finger and lives in climate controlled comfort, But again, I cant stand to search out images of her lying mug to find one.

The Earlier 9/11 Acts of Terror

Americans feel a special sadness about the terrible loss of life on Sept. 11, 2001, but the 9/11 date has other meanings in other countries, reflecting a U.S. hypocrisy on terrorism, wrote Jonathan Marshall in
    2014.

    • Chunga

I’ve always viewed it as the day we joined the rest of the world in which a country’s innocent civilian population became fodder in somebody else’s war against that country’s government and policies. It’s the day our citizens paid for the transgressions of our government against other people. It’s the day we finally realized the comfortable fallacy of the phrase “It can’t happen here”. It’s the day our perceived Exceptionalism finally bit us in the ass. It’s the day our country’s Secret Wars finally came home to roost. It’s the day men and women of power shuddered at the thought they were no longer safe. It’s a day that thousands of babies were born on and many more thousands have been born on before, and forever more it will not just be their birthday but something else. It’s the day that so many people, for a fleeting moment, woke up in gaping horror before falling back asleep again content with the propaganda they were fed. It’s the day that epitomizes the phrase that Bill Hicks so eloquently stated:

“Go back to bed, America. Your government has
figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed, America. Your
government is in control again. Here. Here’s American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up. Go back to bed, America. Here is American Gladiators. Here is 56 channels of it! Watch these pituitary retards bang their fucking skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go, America! You are free to do what we tell you! You are free to do what we tell you!”

    the hypocrisy is bottomless.

    • notisaidthepig

This election cycle has given new meaning to “double standard” and, well, so many other things.

      • Nancy

afternoon dear Pig…indeed, like never before!

        • notisaidthepig

Hi, Nancy. Always a pleasure to run into you. I hope you are having a good weekend.

          • Nancy

            I am-thanks!
a beautiful fallish day here-I can smell the smoke from the burning leaves!

          • notisaidthepig

Sweet. I’m looking forward to experiencing fall for the first time in about 15 years. 😉

          • Nancy

I am happy to hear you are enjoying being back in the States….
must be so different after being away for so long.

          • notisaidthepig

Thanks, Nancy. It feels so good to know that I’m back for good. I know America has problems but at the end of the day it’s home.

          • Nancy

that’s what matters. we all have varying degrees of issues where ever we are.

    How Israel Stole the Bomb

When Israel launched a covert scheme to steal material and secrets to build a nuclear bomb, U.S. officials looked the other way and obstructed investigations, as described in a book reviewed by James DiEugenio.

    Welcome to Your Delusional Democracy

In so many other democracies the public create massive street protests and many times this kind of action produces political and government reforms. It has become clear that the street protest strategy has not and will not happen on a large enough scale to produce deep reforms in the US . Nor has forming new reform-oriented organizations done the job. It is far easier and more convenient for the vast majority of
Americans to see the light and boycott this presidential election.

Vote for whatever else on your ballot is important to you. But boycott the presidential election. That non-vote is truly a message-vote and driving force for major political reforms. If you continue to believe that ordinary participation in elections will fix our nation, then you have not faced history and reality. You remain delusional.

  • notisaidthepig

    Hi, everyone.

    • 17

      Good afternoon, Noti 😉

      • notisaidthepig

Hello. Just preparing some lunch and thought I would see what everyone was up to. My brother texted me this morning with the news about $hillary collapsing. How interesting.

    • Hello Noti, hope the day is treating you well :^)

      • notisaidthepig

Yesterday was lovely. Spent the afternoon with friends and the evening at a dinner party with family. So lovely!

Today is just a full day of school work as I prepare lessons for the coming week. Sigh.

I trust you are doing well?

        • Yes I’m doing well, thank you :^) So pleased that you had a wonderful day with family and friends yesterday.

Both my daughter and my daughter-in-law are teachers as well. So I imagine that’s what they’re doing today too.

          What grade do you teach?

          • notisaidthepig

Ah, then you understand perfectly. I’m teaching grade 8 English this year.

          • Yep :^) My daughter teaches high school English and my daughter-in-law teaches at elementary level.

I was thinking about you when I ran across this history lecture series. Don’t know how you would be able to incorporate it in an English class, or if you would even want to. I thought it was a good find, so I guess I’ll post it anyway :^)

          • notisaidthepig

I taught a couple of sections of “Individuals and Societies” for several years in Cambodia and we did a unit on the Industrial Revolution and it’s impacts. As I recall we worked this into the unit. And this stuff is perfect for certain texts such as…Thomas Hardy’s stuff. Oink!

          • That’s awesome :^)

    • MsPythia

      Hi!!! 😀

      • notisaidthepig

        Happy Sunday, MsP. Oink!

        • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

          About the same.

          How’s your prep going?

          • notisaidthepig

Everything takes longer than I think as I process it. But little by little it’s getting done. I should probably head back upstairs to finish. Talk to you later…

          • cathyx

They think we are so stupid. And granted, some of us are. There are plenty of people who do believe the government lies.

          • 17

            ..

        • panem et circenses

Unlikely. It would have probably been found in the surrounding area somewhere, where debris would’ve been much more scattered and easy to spot. Think car crash with the victim going through the windshield, except at 500mph.

          • cathyx

            Exactly.

          • panem et circenses

Possibly. I don’t presume to know all the facts.

          • Edwin

Me neither and I don’t believe the ones they told us either.

          • Edwin

I vote, everybody lied about what really happened.

          • Actually, if you all are are talking about the al Suqami passport, it was “given to a detective by a ‘dark-skinned man in a suit’ who ‘ran off’ after handing the passport him.” according to multiple sources.

Make of that what you will.

          • panem et circenses

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Releases Video Accusing Palestinians of ‘Ethnic Cleansing,’ Washington Not Happy

In releasing the video, which Benjamin
Netanyahu posted on both his Twitter and Facebook accounts, the Prime
Minister clearly wishes to turn the tables on his and Israel’s
detractors. Certain proposals, such as the “trading” of Arab populated
areas in Israel for some of the settlement blocks in the West Bank, have
been described as ethnic cleansing by some.

    http://www.inquisitr.com/3500149/israeli-pm-benjamin-netanyahu-releases-video-accusing-palestinians-of-ethnic-cleansing-washington-not-happy/

  • Kevin hits the nail on the head, as usual: 9/11 is a set of blinders and handcuffs, all in one.

What If America Happened To Forget The September 11th Attacks?

Work also said, “We must never allow—never allow—those who were lost to ever fade from our memories…as well as those who have sacrificed in the long wars ever since. And we must continue to allow them to motivate us in our continuing struggle against those who would seek to destroy that which we hold dear.”

In other words, “Never Forget” means fighting and supporting endless war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen.

For the citizens of these countries, if America forgot 9/11, they might be relieved. It would likely mean an end to much of the carnage they have endured.

One thing about steel. It melts at around 1370 degrees C (2500°F) which is why steel in multistory buildings is always covered with fire protection, by code, around the world. That is not a conspiracy. Was the collapse of the WTC buildings deliberate? That’s another question.

  • MsPythia

Video on this page where they zoom in on Hillary being dragged into the van today. Look at how her foot drags on the ground. To claim she was not completely passed out is absurd, and trying to lie about this is laughable.

    • Nancy

wow, she is in terrible shape…

    • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

      o_O

Even I don’t look that bad when my legs decide to stop talking to my brain.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

        *hugs*

        • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

Thanks but I would probably take you down with me as I fall 😀

    • SpiffyTheValiant

They got her up and running again pretty fast though.

      • MsPythia

Maybe after they gave her a shot of something.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

Yeah or they fixed her circuits.

      • Nevin

You make it sound like a minor tuneup, put some gas in and away we go.

        • SpiffyTheValiant

          xd

    • Nevin

I would be curious what her eyes were doing while she was “fainting.”

  • MsPythia

    This is weird too:
Mysterious piece of metal flings out of Hillary’s pant leg

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzZl9j580tM

    • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

Is she wearing some sort of leg brace?

      • SpiffyTheValiant

I think it’s a chip that her corporate sponsors have inserted into her and it fell out.

        • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

Weird location for one though 😀

        • Nevin

Don’t be ridiculous. They put the chips in the brain.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

            Which is in her butt.

        • towerofbabel

          Could be a safety button.

      • MsPythia

That’s what I was thinking too Daniel. That she needs braces to help her ankles support her?

        • Nevin

Have you seen how bloated her ankles and feet are?

          • MsPythia

Well, she’s always had large ankles — people have made fun of her over that.

          • Nevin

            Yes, her cankles.

          • towerofbabel

Laugh at the tragedy of it all. But, don’t be mean.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad
          • MsPythia

            LOL!

          • Nevin

I don’t have a foot fetish, but I couldn’t date someone with cankles.

          • towerofbabel

Which ain’t fair. But having a debilitating form a diabetes is serious. Imagine if Putin were attacking and she started blanking out. Who would answer the telephone?

          • Nancy

            Bill.

          • towerofbabel

No he would be too busy.

          • Nancy

            teaching the interns?

          • towerofbabel

            Diabetes.

          • Nevin

They have to be aware of the speculation. If it is diabetes or something else just admit it.

          • towerofbabel

Shows how inept the campaign is. However, if it wasn’t serious they could come out with it and it would make her a more sympathetic figure. So, I’m guessing it’s serious.

          • MsPythia

I’m not convinced it’s diabetes. I have a friend with severe diabetes and she doesn’t pass out in 80 degree heat, or wear leg/ankle braces.

          • towerofbabel

But some do. Seizures are also a symptom.

          • MsPythia

            Maybe so…

        • towerofbabel

That’s it. Lost of muscle control.

      • panem et circenses

The way she’s moving my guess would be back brace, maybe.

    • Nevin

This looks bad for her and there is no way to spin it.

      • cathyx

Wanna bet? Go read the comments at RS.

        • Nevin

I read the comments there. Maybe I should have qualified my comment.

        • towerofbabel

They are all shooting straight Hillary.

    • cathyx

MsP, you are ON THIS! 🙂

      • MsPythia

Just looking at the videos that other people are posting! 🙂

    • towerofbabel

What the hell is that? A syringe part?

      • panem et circenses

Not enough detail to tell. Looks like a solid piece of flat metal to me.

      • Edwin

It’s her secret flash drive with all the emails. I hope someone snatched it up.

        • towerofbabel

That’s the best diagnosis yet. I hope Julian Assange snatched it up.

    • Edwin

Douchebag John Amato is cool with it. We’re the kooks for wondering about her very poor health– we see with our own eyes. He says it happens to everyone. That it ONLY happened to Clinton this fine day is unexplained, but we’re the stupid ones.

Get ready for another wave of Hillary Health Truthers this upcoming week
because the Democratic presidential nominee got overheated after 90
minutes in the heat and humidity of New York’s 9/11 Ceremony, fainted and had to leave for a while.

      http://crooksandliars.com/2016/09/after-overheating-hillary-clinton-emerges

      • MsPythia

Liars for Hillary. Can you imagine what they’d be screaming if Trump was passing out? Or coughing for 4 minutes?

        • Edwin

Why do you think they had to ban us??? It wasn’t because we went against their TOS.

  • Nancy

    • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

And this time with better ideas!

      • Nancy

        yes!

    • towerofbabel

Hillary needs a doctor. So does America.

      • Nancy

I am sure she has a team on this-they are all going to be paid to lie for her too.
        America? yes, it sure does.

  • towerofbabel

Is it? Hypoglycemia, also known as low blood sugar, is when blood sugar decreases to below normal levels. This may result in a variety of symptoms including clumsiness, trouble talking, confusion, loss of consciousness, seizures, or death. A feeling of hunger, sweating, shakiness, and weakness may also be present. Symptoms typically come on quickly.[1]

The most common cause of hypoglycemia is medications used to treat diabetes mellitus such as insulin and sulfonylureas.[2][3] Risk is greater in diabetics who have eaten less than usual, exercised more than usual, or have drunk alcohol.[1] Other causes of hypoglycemia include kidney failure, certain tumors, such as insulinoma, liver disease, hypothyroidism, starvation, inborn error of metabolism, severe infections, reactive hypoglycemia, and a number of drugs including alcohol.[1][3] Low blood sugar may occur in babies who are otherwise healthy who have not eaten for a few hours.[4]

    • Reasonable theory: Old people also get hypoglycemic easily, when they are physically stressed, haven’t eaten, etc. Even when not diabetic Experienced the same thing with my own mother, who is only 4 years older than Clinton.

      • Nevin

Hillary doesn’t look like she skips meals.

    • Nancy

this seems logical Tower. my father and a close uncle had Parkinson’s and I never saw her symptoms in them…
these ones seem to make sense for what I have seen of her.
      I could be wrong though.

      • Yeah, having had a relative with Parkinson’s, myself, that theory just never held any water, for me. Having 3 relatives with varying degrees of diabetes (including an Uncle who’s currently hospitalize because he just had a foot removed from a lack of controlled diabetes,) her behavior makes much more sense in that context. Most of the incidents Republicans have made hay over, over the last 8 years, are pretty well explained by a poorly controlled case of diabetes. This would certainly be exacerbated by her campaign schedule, which would prompt a poor diet, lack of sleep, etc.

It’s the first explanation I’ve seen that makes sense.

        • Nancy

          yes, I just can’t see how it’s Parkinson’s
this looked like a diabetic coma or wonky blood sugar.

          • I can’t imagine she’s maintaining a good diet either, not at all those rich people fundraisers.

          • Nancy

and poor rest, non stop lying…the stress must be a huge factor in her health.

          • Mind you, I’m not a doctor, even an “Internet Doctor,” so I’m not going make a diagnosis, but Diabetes sure does fit the facts. Formally, I still have no opinion.

          • Edwin

My diagnosis (by internet) is she’s worn out from craven, immoral, power-hungry living, lying too much, neglecting her health and now she’s spent and trying to prop herself up with body guards, legs braces, catheters and a complicit media.

          • There’s a Meme for that…

          • Edwin

And it really drains one’s energy trying to keep track of and juggle so many lies.

What did I say last week? What did I say yesterday… or was it last year (hmmm)?

    • MsPythia

Doesn’t explain the metal that flew out of her pant leg.

      • SpiffyTheValiant
        • MsPythia

          Haha!

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            😀

      • Nancy

her chastity belt is falling apart?

        • SpiffyTheValiant

Well it hasn’t been needed since the Dark Ages. It lasted a long time.

          • Nancy

right? there is an expiration date on everything.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            yup.

        • towerofbabel

It’s a catheter or some kind of drain. Or an intravenous device.

          • Nancy

yes, I’d seen others say she looked like she was wearing one.
poor health is not ever funny…her hypocrisy on this is what I am making fun of.
she would never let Trump get away with this. the outrage would be nonstop and deafening!

          • Edwin

I don’t wish poor health on her. I just think she needs to step aside. Retire.

          • towerofbabel

She wants to get over the goal line first for her own reasons, to hell with the country. After that Tim will take the reins. The Pillsbury Doug Boy as a demented world leader. Poke him with money and he giggles.

          • Edwin

Yup. Exactly what I was just thinking. (I was sitting her musing on that as I watched the birds eating the rice I just put out for them.) People like her crave the power. To hell with everyone else.

I’m one of those simple people that enjoys feeding the birds. I don’t need to invade other countries and kill their leaders to get my kicks. ^_^

          • towerofbabel

If you invaded other countries you would experience more bird species.

          • Edwin

            😀

I’m happy with my cute little sparrows. A few pigeons drop by. That’s about it. I made a little bird bath for them. They are happy in my garden. My heart is full: they complete me. 🙂

          • Nancy

            a man of simple pleasures.
            nice!

          • Edwin

            they are the best

          • Edwin

One time when I was in Thailand a bunch of toucans came. That was pretty cool. Even in places like that you rarely see such birds. I don’t think there is much wildlife left on our planet. There are so few spaces for them.

When I lived in Kampala (at 14) we had amazing birds in the yard all the time. One day I took a slingshot out and shot one of those perfectly round murram rocks at one of them, a thrush of some kind. I hit it and killed it. I have felt awful about it my whole life. It was senseless.

          • Edwin

I would really like to go to Africa!!

I hear you on killing the bird. I feel bad when I kill a bug. I can tell you to stop feeling awful, but you probably won’t. I get it. 🙁

(we won’t hold it against you)

          • towerofbabel

            They deserve the vote.

          • MsPythia

She wants to be the first woman president. She doesn’t give a shit about anything else but that goal.

          • Nancy

same…her greed and lust for power is going to do her in.

        • Edwin

          I doubt she needs one.

          • Nancy

she is afraid Bill will rape her.

      • towerofbabel

It also looks like something catches on the bollard she is leaning on. Maybe she has some kind of catheter. Oh, god.

        • MsPythia

I’ve heard people speculating about that before. Supposedly there are photos where it looks like she’s wearing one.

          • Nevin

Has anyone speculated when she would need one?

          • MsPythia

Haven’t seen anyone doing that, but now with her collapse and that weird metal flying out of her pant leg… I don’t know. Could be a catheter or a leg brace?

          • Edwin

O, I think the speculation is about to begin and, methinks, it’s gonna get real ugly. (Hurray.)

          • ॐ peaceful_revolutionary

I hadn’t heard about the medal and her pant leg. Is there a photo or video?

        • MsPythia

          Here’s what they’re talking about:

          https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CqT8EWGWcAAnZew.jpg

            😀 I love that movie!

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

So do I, that song popped into my head after you said catheter 😀

          • Edwin

            What movie?

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

            A Mighty Wind.

          • Edwin

            will look it up– thx

      • panem et circenses

        Or coughing attacks.

  • Nancy

and then we have the old guy…
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP_J6gmJYiU

    • It’s amazing what not concentrating your entire existence on the stressful goal of being empress of the world, will do for your health. 😀

    • MsPythia

They stole the primary from the smart, healthy, well liked guy, and gave the nomination to the confused, sick, unlikeable woman.

    • cathyx

Could you see hillary move like that?

  • Nevin

Hillary is an amateur when it comes to overheating.

    http://i.imgur.com/TAzqrxY.gif

    • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

She’s still worse than Skynet. At least Skynet figured nuking humanity would clear the way for the machines, Hillary doesn’t have that excuse.

    • MsPythia

There’s a special place in hell for Hillary supporters.

    • Edwin

Except, she didn’t overheat. She’s gravely ill.

      • Nevin

        She’s claiming she overheated.

        • Edwin

Trump claims he’s not a racist.

  • Nevin

CNN is reporting Hillary has pneumonia.

    • Edwin

On top of her TB and diabetes?

      • Nevin

Apparently she was diagnosed Friday and docs told her to modify her schedule.

        • Edwin

Or so CNN says. She looked fine coming out of Chelsea’s apartment.

          • Nevin

I agree. If she has pneumonia it just goes to prove the Clinton’s are very secretive. Why did it take so long for them to come out with it?

          • Edwin

If she had pneumonia and passed out at a ceremony, why would they not rush her to the hospital; she is a presidential candidate, not some random old lady? Why take her to Chelsea’s apartment? She leaves Chelsea’s looking just fine and waves to the cameras. Says she feels great. Someone didn’t think this lie through very well.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZR_9rVDeQQ

          • Nevin

The optics wouldn’t look good with her going to a hospital. Go to her daughters and make it look like it was no big deal.

          • Edwin

So she doesn’t take passing out from pneumonia seriously?

How reckless would she be as leader of the free world? How fast and loose will she be with other people’s lives?

          • Edwin

If they took her to the hospital they’d find the leg braces and the catheter. Someone would likely blab to the NY news. Then it would be lights out, game over.

        • Nancy

lmao…so that’s what they are saying to deflect it from something else?
the problem with a liar is that it’s too difficult to ever believe anything they say.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

I’m guessing she’s fine enough to meet with bribers though.

          • MsPythia

As long as people are paying $100,000 per plate, they’ll be wheeling her in a hospital bed.

          • Nancy

right? always enough strength to pull off those meetings!

    • panem et circenses

It’s a reasonable explanation. Lots of other illnesses can lead to pneumonia, though, so that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the only problem she has.

    • MsPythia

You know who often get pneumonia? People with Parkinson’s Disease.

      • Nevin

One of these days you are going to be right with that diagnosis.

        • MsPythia

          It’s true though.

        • MsPythia
          • Nevin

Do we know the context of that email. It said Provigil can be used for 2 or 3 days “with few known side effects and little risk of addiction.” I would think if she has Parkinson’s she would be using more than the recommendation.

          • MsPythia

Well, we know she often disappears for days at a time…

          • Nevin

I do find that troubling. Even if it is to rest it shows she doesn’t have the stamina.

          • MsPythia

Exactly. Whatever it is she has, this shows she’s a sick woman. She likely has good days and bad days, but today she had no choice since it was 9/11 and she was expected to show up for this ceremony no matter how she felt. And obviously she couldn’t take it, since she totally passed out.

          • Edwin

What else won’t she be able to take if she’s in the Oval Office? What is she gets an angry phone call from Putin? Hmm? Will she go to pieces and pass out?

          • cathyx

She’s got an entire military industrial complex behind her if she gets an angry phone call from Putin.

          • Edwin

Yeah, but if she passes out first how will they know?

She’s so sick she could drop dead opening a letter.

    • I absolutely love the CNN article online saying that “she appeared wobbly and stumbled.”

~Clinton’s health came into sharp focus Sunday as she appeared wobbly and stumbled as Secret Service agents helped her into a van~

Meanwhile this is what a witness said.

~Clinton appeared to faint as she was leaving the Ground Zero ceremony, two law enforcement officials — including one who witnessed the incident — told CNN.~

      http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/11/politics/hillary-clinton-health/

      • MsPythia

It’s amazing that they’re trying to lie about something that there is video of!!! Hillary competely passed out and was dragged into that car — we can see that her lifeless foot was dragged on the ground and her shoe came off in the process.

        • The lying is atrocious and it needs to stop.

          • MsPythia

It’s not just disturbing at this point, it’s INSANE.

          • Yep… it’s definitely hit a level of sickness in our society.

          • Hello MsPy :^) sorry I should have said that first.. I’m so rude sometimes.

          • MsPythia

That’s okay Steph — I don’t mind when we just start yakking to each other! I do it myself all the time! 🙂

          • Ty :^)

    • cathyx

If she really had pneumonia, why would she show up for any event? That’s the perfect excuse to not go. No one would fault her on that.

      • Nevin

Or…maybe she didn’t want the public to know she had pneumonia.

        • cathyx

Why not? People do get sick, no one would fault her for pneumonia.

          • Nevin

I don’t know. If you are sick often you are viewed as weak.

          • kreskin

And that’s a line that Trump would use. Look , see how weak she is ? She can’t take the pressure !

          • Nevin

That’s a given. But…if the shoe were on the other foot I imagine that is were Hillary would go too.

          • MsPythia

            Hillary lost her shoe! 😀

          • Nevin

            But it was found.

          • Edwin

Now he can say, Look , see how weak she is ? She can’t take the heat !

          • kreskin

She is desperate to win and right now it’s up in the air with only a couple of months to go .

      • MsPythia

Because she’s desperate to look presidential? She couldn’t stand the thought that Trump would be there and had to drag her sick ass out of bed so he didn’t show her up.

        • kreskin

Look presidential ? People get sick , even Presidents.

          • MsPythia

Appear presidential in the sense that she wanted to be there with all the important people and get attention and have photo ops. But instead of that we got to witness her pass out and get dragged into her van like a side of beef. She wanted to look important, but all she exposed is how sick she really is.

          • kreskin

Like a side of beef ? LOL

          • MsPythia

            😀 She’s quite a handful, no?

Probably didn’t realize it at the time … that it was pneumonia. That’s something you want to mess around with .

        • MsPythia

Who knows if it’s true, but the media said she’s known since Friday that she had it.

  • Nevin

Well this is interesting. I need to read up on sinus thrombosis.

    https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/775089077334921216

    • cathyx

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is the presence of acute thrombosis (a blood clot) in the dural venous sinuses, which drain blood from the brain. Symptoms may include headache, abnormal vision, any of the symptoms of stroke such as weakness of the face and limbs on one side of the body, and seizures.

      • Nevin

You and I were posting the same thing.

        • cathyx

          I was first though.

Wow, Fleischer is really reveling in that day in all his tweets. That’s insane.

        • cathyx

And Glenn is replying to them all.

Crooks and Liars has 4 threads up about Clinton’s miserably poor and still failing health. That’s a lot of threads for what they’re touting as a real nothingburger story.

Clinton’s Doctor Says Heat, Pneumonia Caused Overheating Episode

    By Karoli Kuns

Now that our press has their answer, perhaps they could turn their attention to other things?

    http://crooksandliars.com/2016/09/clintons-doctor-says-heat-pneumonia-caused

I wonder how much they pay her (and Amato) to pump out these lies every day. She doesn’t even have to do anything, just publish what Brock emails her. So lazy.

nice to see you here. it’s awful out there on the threads now-I popped into mediaite and was horrified….

          • ॐ peaceful_revolutionary

I posted one post there today and I do that about once a month. That’s all I can stand of the place.

          • Nancy

it’s beyond repair. I shudder to think how much worse it will get.

          • Edwin

Do you know who is at high risk for pneumonia?
Patients who have had a stroke and it has effected his or her swallowing muscles. These patients have frequent coughing fits because liquid and saliva can’t be properly controlled and they slide down the patients throat and slip into the lungs causing pneumonia!!!
    (I am a neuro nurse.
    #BringBernieBack #NeverHillary

    • It sounds reasonable. However as a nurse she should know that until she can have access to tests, it’s just speculation.

      • Nancy

well if she is diagnosed with pneumonia, there is already a test given-or there should be!
it’s all so bizarre to me.

        • Yes it is. A presidential candidate that hides her health and a media that enables that lie. It’s distressing on many levels.

Hillary should take note that this is one of the hazards of being a liar, and hiding truth. Is that it can lead to speculation, that is much worse than what may be the actual truth of the matter.

          • Nancy

the irony is that they would never put up with this level of deceit from Trump or Bernie.

          • That’s the God’s honest truth…they had Bernie one foot in the grave and he’s the picture of Health.

    • Edwin

She’s a leaky dripping mess. Fluids are rolling down into her lungs and a catheter drains bile-n-stuff from the lower part of her body.

      • MsPythia

That explains the thick frock coats! More absorbent to soak up the leaks!

        • Edwin

Hide all the medical equipment needed to keep her going.

          • MsPythia

They do a good job of hiding the pee bag strapped to her leg.

          • Edwin

I think there’s enough flab there that it’s not too hard to hide a pee bag.

        • towerofbabel

There’s a great tradition of fainting in US politics.

The stress, the public scrutiny, the crazy travel schedule, the spotlight, the heat. Even powerful world leaders let their humanity slip sometimes, and there’s perhaps no better demonstration than the fainting spell.

    http://qz.com/778980/not-just-hillary-clinton-theres-a-great-tradition-of-fainting-in-us-politics/

    • MsPythia

Funny how they’re saying the humidity is high there — when other articles are saying it’s warm, with not much humidity.

      • Edwin

Someone at C&L said the temp at the time of the ceremony was in the mid-70s. A nice Sept/early autumn day.

If someone felt like sleuthing around to see if that’s true…. I just think she’s gravely ill and at death’s door. Maybe suffering from dementia too.

        • MsPythia

Well healthy people don’t tend to cough up big chunks of lung butter, but I guess it’s so sexist of me to say so!

          • According to Canon, The Guardian is still there, the planet is quarantined by the Federation. I’m not sure why no Trek series has used it again, I think it’s ripe for good stories. I know I’ve been in at least one great RPG game that used the Guardian as a plot point.

          • I really want to use that line, “That’s all right, because I don’t believe in you either.”

          • Fuck. Such a great episode. It’s wonder to me that Kirk managed to stay a reasonably sane human being, considering all the terrible ways he lost people he loved.

          • Another great story from D.C. Fontana. I think it’s the lack of her talent, perhaps hers alone, that turns me off to the stories in later Trek series, like Voyager and Enterprise.

          • SmotPoker

Shows 9/15/67 as the original air date.

          • Wikipedia say “City” was broadcast April 6, 1967 and “Annihilate” on April 13, 1967! So that means they’re skipping Annihilate. Bastards.

          • That’s OK, though, “Amok” is like my 4th or 5 favorite episode.

  • MsPythia

Hillary fainting at the site of 9/11 today is serious shit in a strictly symbolic way. What could make the people of this country feel more vulnerable that the person that wants to become the leader of this country having a complete collapse on the pavement and have to be dragged into her car when the memorial for 9/11 is going on. I would not be surprised if the DNC is considering telling Hillary to drop out after today.

    • I agree with with the first part of what you have to say, for sure. The part about dems getting her to drop out? Not so sure. There’s so much investment in her, by the party’s heirarchy, I think there’s likely to be a lot of psychological inertia and group loyalty that may make that impossible. See @john_kooms:disqus’s “rake steppers” comment.

      • MsPythia

I don’t think they’d let Bernie step in, but they might be thinking of getting another puppet for the 1% to take over after this. Her health will be all people talk about now.

        • It’s possible, but the kind of inertia she has, inside the party, is hard to stop.

          • MsPythia

Truth — I’m sure they don’t want to do this. But this might be the kind of thing that does stop that. She’s been in hiding so much, and the few times she’s appeared now there has been a clear display of terrible health. They can’t spin this away. The video shows a complete loss of control on the sidewalk, and the symbolism of this at the 9/11 memorial is definitely a big crisis for her campaign.

          • Fingers crossed.

Kaine would probably be best, as his anti-abortion stance is likely to rankle women who still think the Dems are pro-choice.

Biden would be tougher, but his history as “The Senator From MBNA” could hurt him.

Either way, if they managed to replace Clinton, it would only be good news for Jill Stein.

          • MsPythia

Yes. I think if they do replace her, it might be with another woman since they’re so invested in this sexism thing against Trump. Maybe Elizabeth Warren? She’s proved to be perfectly willing to kowtow for the oligarchy during the primary.

          • You think? Maybe. I don’t think it’s going to be Warren though. She makes a good Court Jester for the Dems, but I don’t think they’d trust her with the crown.

            Pelosi? Boxer?

          • MsPythia

I don’t know… Maybe they’ll just go with Biden. If they actually do replace her, they’ll need to pick someone who they know is already very popular I would think… Hard to say.

          • See, the thing is, I don’t know about his popularity. But, I think you’re right, Biden seems the likely choice.

          • MsPythia

He’d be the one that would please most people I would think. Because the DNC has to know that Bernie’s supporters are going to be seriously pissed off that he isn’t even going to be considered. Biden has at least been a vice president, so it would be easy for them to slot him right in there.

          • Dosido3

Not Boxer. She wants to retire. Her health is just OK.

          • Really just putting forward possibles. I wouldn’t make an actual guess, not privvy enough to the inside politics at the DNC to make an educated guess.

          • Dosido3

            DWS!

          • LOL, now that seems unlikely.

          • Edwin

Still, it’s better than having her pass out in front of the entire world during one of the debates.

            Your stock market would crash.

          • Dosido3

            That would be epic.

          • Edwin

            Yes. It would.

      • towerofbabel

I think she is still in there, propped up as she is, because all hell is going to break loose in the DNC when she is out of the picture. It’s a house of cards held together with a catheter tube.

    • towerofbabel

I am beginning to think we are living in Jonestown.

          • kreskin

            I agree .

      • Nancy

        private nurses.

        • MsPythia

          Yes!

      • Nevin

I don’t know who that woman is standing behind Hillary, but Hillary was holding onto her earlier.

        • MsPythia

That woman was totally holding her up!

          • Edwin

The woman and her leg braces. I wonder if there are wires up above too.

A Presidential exoskeleton? Or maybe a full-on robotic body. Keep the head in a glass jar like they did in Futurama, and hook it up to a robot body.

Think of the fun we’d have watching her robotic body twitch and do odd things while they sort out the coding errors and bugs. It would be almost as entertaining as watching her fall down from becoming “overheated.”

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

We’d probably end up with an ED-209 situation with stairs.

          • The_Fixer

Sad to say, that’s probably the best-case scenario.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

Or Daleks, they wouldn’t even have to modulate the voice to get the “exterminate” right 😉

          • The_Fixer

LOL! Yeah, they’re electing someone who’s one step away from being a Dalek. Wow.

I have nothing meaningful to say to people that are that different to me. I am ok losing friends and deleting the ones that are so different in their thinking regarding the election and the candidates.

      • ॐ peaceful_revolutionary

I have a close friend for years who hasn’t spoken to me in months because she lives very close to that methane leak in the Hollywood area. When she said there was fresh leak I said you’d better not vote for Hillary then because she supports fracking. She became furious.

Sorry, but if you are going to play the insanity game of doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results I’m not going to support it.

I fainted once and that was over 40 years ago. I remember saying to the person next to me that I was going to faint.

      • kreskin

What’s the big mystery ? They say it’s pneumonia , with pneumonia you cough , you overheat / run a fever , you get weak and wobbly .

        • Edwin

How long has she had pneumonia. 3 months?

          • kreskin

            I don’t know , do you ?

    • Dosido3

      Chunga! Hi.

      • Chunga

Good evening Dosido, hope you had a good weekend.

        • Dosido3

          Very good. How about you?

          • Chunga

I’ve been removing old lead paint from door and window trim in my house since last weekend so was doing more of the same all this weekend. But the hot weather has finally broken here in the East so everythng is that much better.

          • Edwin

Glad your heat broke. Must have been just after Hillary fainted.

I can’t tell you how much I am liking the cooler air here!!! Midday is hot, but morning and evening are purr.fect.

          • Chunga

We’re supposed to be in the 50s (F) tonite, purfect sleeping weather.

          • Edwin

We’re at 27* (80) in the daytime and 19* (66) at night. I love that. 50s are very good too. Blanket time.

          • Chunga

Sounds like we are both getting my favorite weather. I love pleasant days and cool nights. Indian Summer will hit soon enough though. But I’m hoping the hot uncomfortable nights are done with.

          • Edwin

This time of years is very nice in Korea. It lasts a long time, to end of October at least. Before we had constant haze, not we have blue skies and white (sometimes grey) puffy clouds.

          • Dosido3

Ah. A nice DIY project. Cool. And Edwin beat me to the Hillary joke.

          • Chunga

I wish I had started this project 5 years ago, but better late than never.

          • Hi Chunga :^) Do be careful removing that lead paint. My son had to do that on the windows and doors of his house, before he sold it. He’s a good kid so he bought the masks and the tarps and changed out his clothes and all that good stuff. Still made me nervous.

          • Chunga

Good evening Stephanie, thank you. I decided to go the chemical route so it all comes off as a goo instead of scraping it and getting dust all over the place. Got the windows open and fans sucking out so the fumes are not a problem. It’s actually going better than I had expected but still slow and tedious. Only 4 more doors and 9 windows to go on the 2nd floor 😭.

          • Oh my goodness so much work. I believe the chemical treatment neutralizes the lead, If I remember correctly.

My son used some of the chemical stuff as well with some windows, with other windows it was just loose paint chips and he didn’t have to work it very hard. He also bought a little handheld vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to suck up the paint chips and then threw it away at the end of the project.

He was going to hire a service but he could only find two companies that were lead certified and they didn’t want to do it if his property had lead:/ He didn’t want to hire them if they weren’t going to take proper precautions for their employees and the environment.

I hope it goes quickly for you :^)

    • Dosido3

You know, this article lists the very things I think our country could improve and do better…but then we get told America is already great, we should be “grateful” etc. it’s ridiculous.

Does anyone else find it strange that it took HOURS before there was an explanation of Hillarys collapse when she had been diagnosed as having pneumonia YESTERDAY?

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CsHiv1wVUAAJe1l.jpg

    • Nevin

      Yes

    • MsPythia

      I bet it’s something else.

      • Nevin

        Let me guess. 😉

        • MsPythia

It’s just that she’s been having coughing fits for a year, you know? She may have pneumonia now, but that’s not all this is.

          • Nevin

            I know, Parkinson’s.

          • MsPythia

Maybe. Or some other neurological disorder as a result of her brain blood clot.

          • Nevin

I doubt we will ever find out, at least while she is alive. Glad to see they are still talking about this on the MSM.

          • MsPythia

She looks so dishonest. It’s about time they talked about how she’s constantly hiding and secretive.

      • Shohanna

I am pretty damned sure it’s life threatening. She is going against every Doctor she has talked to b/c she is that fucking greedy. Every Doctor that insists she is “healthy”, needs to be charged for going against their credo. She isn’t “healthy” she isn’t “fit”. She should be disqualified yesterday!

    • kreskin

Since when have they been honest and upfront about anything ? Does not surprise me .

  • smkngman3
  • smkngman3

      No, thanks. Not interested.

      • Fool me once…

        • MsPythia

A fair point. But the polls still show that Bernie would crush Trump, so…

      • smkngman3

Bernie who would win or Stein who can’t?

        I love Jill but……………..

        • Dosido3

          I’d vote for him…

          • notisaidthepig

Oh, I would too. But there’s no way they will allow him to run. And he will meekly accept it. Seems to be without a spine.

          • Same here.

        • notisaidthepig

Bernie has lost credibility as far as I’m concerned. I don’t care what he thinks or what he says.

Jill is a different story. Stein can’t win? Well, so many things are impossible….until they aren’t.

          • 17

If Bernie comes back and tells me that he or his family were threatened, I might listen. Anything else is unacceptable.

    • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

DNC wouldn’t go for it, plus we need a new party.

    • MsPythia

They could run a guy who can actually run!

      https://media.giphy.com/media/l49FjqlyEjCEGyJnG/giphy.gif

    • Annaleigh

I don’t have any hope for that any longer. The party truly does not give a shit about the wellbeing of the country. It’s one thing for Hillary not to care, it’s another for the party to agree to not caring.

      • 17

Annaleigh, I noticed you made a comment over on the old thread about Andy and his calling us “monsters” and “misguided”. Would you believe that the “Ruling Duo” from “That Other Place” feels the same way about us?

        • Annaleigh

Oh 17, Andy didn’t call us monsters, he called us misguided in response to my tweet about how some Hillary supporters have talked about Bernie supporters as if we were monsters they had to defend the Democratic Party and nation from.

But I’m not surprised that’s how the Ruling Duo think at all.

  • smkngman3
  • Nevin

I have a twitter account but I am worthless about it. Anyway, I don’t hear a lot of people wishing Hillary a quick recovery.

    • Annaleigh

I saw someone tweet at Chelsea to please tell Hillary to get out of the race for the good of the nation and for the good of Hillary’s own health.

God it makes me so angry that the party is so desperate to force Hillary on the nation that they may be hiding/ignoring a serious health condition when the country deserves someone in the best possible health or to at least know about any possible health limitations a candidate might have.

      • In the end, I don’t care. Either way we get President Kaine. And no nation that’s actually a threat really cares about the US, so it’s not like Madame Wobbles being sick is going to really matter.

        • Annaleigh

Yes I know we’re screwed either way. But I am so furious with the Democratic Party and its apparent total lack of caring about the country, even if it’s a hopeless rage.

          • I can’t be mad at them, they’re a right-wing, authoritarian party, doing what right-wing, authoritarian parties do.

I’m sad that the US hasn’t had a truly progressive party since the early-mid 70s, but so it is.

          • The older Progressive is the beleaguered Progressive. We were out numbered and out flanked, but we have stood all the same.

A part of me wants to classify this time period as the Great and Sad Awakening.
I welcome the millennials, they along with us will have to fight like hell to achieve political gain, but hopefully never again will the progressive have such shity political odds, going forward.

          • kreskin

Good luck with those political odds . Don’t know why they did it , but Warren and Sanders set us back a long long ways . They really did a number on progressives and the progressive movement .

          • The thought that I was trying to communicate was not about Progressive political leaders. The odds is simply a numbers game either we have enough people to demand change or we don’t.

As it stands now we don’t….and if we’re going to divide progressives into two camps with no strategic thought in mind whatsoever, then we most assuredly will not have enough numbers, for a long while to come.

          • kreskin

I agree , only the masses can force change , but we have to have leaders / organizers .We are weaker now than we have been in many years … thanks to the two turn coats . That’s how it feels to me .

          • I disagree:^) our numbers are increasing.

I have never seen such a force of people work so passionately for Progressive causes whether it be with Bernie Sanders Our Revolution, Brand New Congress or Green party. Or numerous other political action groups.

When you calculate Baby Boomers exiting this world and millennials becoming the dominant political force, the odds get even better….way better.

Hold on and Hold Steady :^)

          • kreskin

I don’t see any reason for optimism at this point . When our leader / organizer quit on us and became a traitor it took all the wind out of our sails , in fact he took the sails with him . We’re dead in the water now , floundering . If you’re still optimistic , good for you , seriously .

          • I don’t know why you keep bringing Bernie Sanders into this the only reason why he was successful was because the movement propelled him, it’s us….not him always has been.

I personally believe that calling someone traitor when they have dedicated their entire life to fighting Progressive causes simply because they made a decision that you disagree with. A weird definition of the word traitor, indeed.

The moment Bernie Sanders lost the primary we were screwed for the next two years at the very least. I’m exceptionally pragmatic about that.

However it’s forward motion what are you going to do? You take the hit and then you go on.

          • MsPythia

I agree, Steph. The people who rose to take up Bernie’s candidacy were already there. Many were at Occupy or supported it, and we’ve marched with BLM or supported it, Bernie just benefited from the prevailing sentiments of progressives that we needed someone who would fight for us.

          • towerofbabel

I agree with you but Kresikin’s feelings are not unreasonable. When our “candidates” watch massive election fraud and then walk away because they don’t want to get their hands dirty, it’s despicable. It would be one thing to lose and then support your successful opponent. It’s entirely different to have a rigged primary or a stolen election and then say nothing about it. That is a betray of our democracy.

          • SmotPoker

I for one, no longer suffer from the delusion that things can be changed through peaceful measures.

We know these authoritarians better than we know ourselves, and one thing we can count on is that they will never, ever, go away quietly, and without a bloody fight.

How long has MLK been in his grave now? What’s really changed for blacks in America? Not a whole fucking lot really. Sure, there are some minor changes, some tweaks here, and there, but the hatred still exists. The 2nd class status is still enforced albeit more subtly than ever before.

No, I fear that one of two things will go down in the near future. America will become a Fascist state or it will become embroiled in another bloody Civil War, or perhaps even a bit of both.

        • kreskin

Hilz is a full blown neocon , she’s reckless and aggressive . When has she ever said no to a war , an invasion , a direct confrontation or to upping the ante ? Not one time that I am aware of . She is flat out dangerous . I’d be relieved if she had to drop out or lost the election .

          • Nevin

Her pro war stance is frightening.

          • kreskin

She’s a lunatic . There’s a reason why Paul Wolfowitz came out in support of her … and he’s not the only one .

          • kreskin

Seriously , it worries me . Things are bad enough right now … as it is .

          • I don’t disagree. I don’t want to see her in office. I just don’t see any difference whether she’s healthy or not. If she’s not, we get a President Kaine and the same policies. I mean, look at Obama, he continued and expanded the Cheney/Bush program. With Kaine, maybe the war is a little less apt to boil over to nuclear, but it’s difference that’s not going to stop the war mongering.

            🙁

          • Nevin

Kaine will forward the repub agenda.

          • Of course, as would Clinton. That’s the point: no difference. At least no difference that matters, it seems to me.

          • I would like to remind people that our presidency is not a dictatorship. If we want to influence the presidency Congress is our next step.

And if Hillary has to pull out because of Health, we have a chance installing Bernie back in the race.

I don’t see the likelihood of that happening however if I think Bernie can get back in I will support it 100%.

          • kreskin

Difference on foreign policy , on how aggressive and reckless we are . Rather important , I’d say . On the domestic front , trade etc. , probably no difference at all .

          • kreskin

Remember , Obama did say no to a no fly zone / direct confrontation with the Russians in Syria … that Hillary was pushing for . That was a big deal .

    • MsPythia

Her sycophant squad is trying to paint her as heroic for being incredibly sick and going to the memorial anyway. The rest of us see that as stupid — and if she’s got walking pneumonia, thoughtless as well, since that’s highly contagious. “LUPICA: Presidential race an insult to America’s great values”

How does anybody see what we are seeing and hear what we are hearing on a daily basis, in a race mean and ugly as a knife fight, and think that our values and ideals are being honored? Or that we are somehow honoring the memory of the Americans who came together the way they did 15 years ago and fought back the only way we have ever really known how in this country, which means by going to work?

What really ought to make Clinton lightheaded these days is how she has let Trump, a dream opponent, one who looks as if he’s running to be leader of a post-factual world, take the play away from her. A private-email server, and even missing emails, were never going to disqualify her from being President.

In a sane country those would disqualify her. She’s running for the same post factual garbage.

And what is this shit of going back to work, that’s all they see us as, just proles from whom they steal to fill their coffers.

BREAKING: DNC Calling ‘Emergency Meeting’ To Consider Replacing Hillary Clinton (DETAILS)
    http://bipartisanreport.com/2016/09/11/breaking-dnc-calling-emergency-meeting-to-consider-replacing-hillary-clinton-details/

    • Nevin

I wonder how reliable that info is.

      • Shohanna

YouTube, showing her seizing just after the 9/11 memorial. They had to pick her up and put her in the car. The SS scrambled around her to hide it. But not before this was caught.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StyKyAFOGLY

        • Nevin

Evening Shohanna. I’m just questioning the DNC meeting.

          • Shohanna

I understand, but I figured that the DNC meeting is b/c of this and other incidents getting to the press and exposing how UNFIT for office this bitch is.

            ETA: can’t spell office apparently.

          • Hi sho :^) how is your night going?

          • Shohanna

Hey there steph, insomnia. /sigh 😀

          • Oh sorry, pumpkin seeds, or warm milk maybe?

          • Shohanna

Menopause. Nothing helps this insomnia except to sit through it and wait. 🙁

          • 🙁 some tunes Maybe insomnia seems appropriate.
            http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hTGhEj1d6Cw

          • Nevin

I sailed through menopause. No hot flashes or insomnia.

          • Shohanna

I get hot flashes like once a week or month. Rare. The insomnia?! It’s about a week before my “period” and it lasts about 2 weeks. So two weeks normal, two weeks off. My heart hates it. 🙁

          • Sorry falling asleep.

Goodnight Sho, I hope you can get some sleep too :^)

          • Edwin

            Good night.

          • Here’s a funny cat video.
            http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G8KpPw303PY

          • Shohanna

That was awesome!! 😀 I loved it. Ty Steph!!

          • Backwards. DNC meeting was rumored after she fainted, trying to leave the event early. The alledged meeting was never a real thing, just rumor, and even so, DNC says nothing they can do, if Clinton doesn’t want to abdicate.

        • SmotPoker

Well one thing is for sure, she’s going to have someones ass for allowing her $5k shoes to get scuffed as they dragged her into the van…..

          • Edwin

they left one in the gutter

          • MsPythia

            Madame Gutter-Foot.

      • Who knows…probably not very reliable.

But at least we can get some perverse satisfaction that it is probably causing Hillary and Bill Clinton to shit bricks tonight.

    • Shuster already updated that with tweet, and it was nothing more than one of the “Anonymous sources say” things, anyways.
      His Anonymous source now says:

      https://twitter.com/DavidShuster/status/775141250131456000

      • Nevin

Wow. That allows, which I am not claiming Hillary is, a totally incompetent person to say fuck you.

        • Lovely situation, isn’t it?

          • kreskin

I wonder if Shuster has flipped his friggin lid ?

          • He’s just playing the typical modern corporate media game of “Anonymous sources say.” which let’s political figures use these “journalists” to “run it up the flagpole and see who salutes” for whatever pet idea/story the pol wants to get out there.

      • kreskin

She’d have to be on her death bed before she’d give this up .

        • Nevin

From the looks of the videos she is.

          • kreskin

Lost my aunt to pneumonia , I was the last one she spoke to before she died , it’s a horrible way to die . Pneumonia almost took my dad , it was 50 / 50 whether he would live or die , was in a medically induced coma for eight days .

          • Nevin

Lost my mom to a stroke. There are many horrible ways to die. Brain cancer is a painful way to die. Hillary has access to health care that many of us don’t. I have no sympathy for what she went through today.

          • kreskin

Was telling you about pneumonia and what my loved ones went through , nothing more.

          • Nevin

I understand that kreskin. My point is why should the elite have better health care than the rest of us.

          • kreskin

            A proud American I am not .

          • kreskin

We can’t even begin to afford health care insurance .We’re not getting any younger , that’s what worries me .

          • Nevin

I can afford the insurance, but can’t afford to use it. Deductible of $6,000 is ridiculous.

          • kreskin

Six grand deductible ? What a scam !

          • Nevin

The other opinion is to pay over $500/month for insurance. The ACA is not affordable. Our legislators are living in an alternative world.

          • kreskin

Makes me so friggin mad … I can’t even see straight .

          • One success of the ACA that I think we all should acknowledge is expanded Medicaid it has helped many people.

Admittedly single- payer, would be the preferred way

          • kreskin

I’m glad for those that it helped , but millions were left out in the cold , for them ( us ) it’s still affordable .

          • All true.

          • Yes it is. It’s self defeating. The whole purpose of insurance is so that people don’t have to file for bankruptcy $6,000 is more than enough to throw most Americans into bankruptcy and that doesn’t even include your stop loss or max out of pocket.

          • Sorry for your loss kreskin.

          • Annaleigh

So basically not even that would get her to do it. She’s that damn selfish.

          • Nevin

            Yep.

  • Annaleigh
    • Shohanna

I am going to have to watch that again. But I think i finally made the damned connections about the ME. O.o It fucking makes sense now. Holy shit. it’s like I figured it was. (I didn’t know the details I was missing, but I was guessing!) Damn I should do political projections! Or even Predictions. O.O

Not that I am stupid mind you. But the ME has always confused me. I read the articles, and they make no goddamned sense to me. But THIS.. THIS made sense! This pieced that puzzle together for me!!

We are in deep shit. :/ It doesn’t matter where you live. This will affect you. Damn, I was hoping I could count on my lottery winnings, (HAHA) to escape the US. Doesn’t matter though, all we are is puppets in their hands. Damn it people wake up!! I don’t want to be someone’s puppet corpse.. TYVFM!!

“I believe that there is life all over our universe, since it would be
the height of arrogance to think that we are alone. Moreover, I believe
that at some point, life on Earth will die out, either from natural
causes, or from our own doing. To me, this is a natural progression,
just like individual lives on our planet. Unlike many people, including
several of my astronaut colleagues, I don’t think that technology will
    save us,” he wrote.
“I believe that life is always starting in some parts of the universe
at the same time that it is dying out in others. We don’t know about
each other, simply because the distances are so vast.”

    http://www.hngn.com/articles/205433/20160912/aliens-nasa-astronaut.htm

Of course there is, they are here and they sure don’t want us to know about it. We aren’t ready for that kind of revelation. Would blowup our world.

    • 17

I agree that the chances of us being alone in the universe are ridiculous, but “they are here and they sure don’t want us to know about it”? I don’t know about that one. I think I’d need a little more proof before believing that.

      • Shohanna

The crazy people! The one who hide and run the government. Cheney!! Or Hell Hillary and Bill. They are unnatural. /snark

        • 17

Oh yeah! I forgot about Alex Jones’ “Lizard People” who run the world. I’m such a sheeple. 😉

          • Shohanna

            See? hahahaha

Calm before storm? Pressure mounts as MSM admits Clinton’s health is ‘campaign issue’
Indeed, when #HackingHillary was making the headlines last week, the liberal media appeared not to notice, or downplay the then-alleged health problems. However, since Clinton’s apparent fainting spell due to what was initially explained as “overheating,” and then pneumonia-linked dehydration, some outlets have seemingly made a U-turn in their coverage.
    https://www.rt.com/usa/359021-clinton-pneumonia-msm-health/

    • MsPythia

It’s pretty funny how the press was so indignant that anyone DARE question her health! And now it’s like well yes, obviously she’s sick!

      • cathyx

        And people here too.

        • MsPythia

She’s been hacking for a year!

          • cathyx

I didn’t realize it was that long. Whatever she has, it seems to be escalating.

          • MsPythia

There are videos on youtube showing how far back the coughing started. She may now have pneumonia, but the frequent coughing fits started a long time ago.

          • 17

Don’t you remember the coughing during the Benghazi hearings?

          • MsPythia

Exactly. She had a coughing fit there. That’s a long time ago.

          • Shohanna

Wonder if her seizures will increase. Wonder if she is dreading the 90 minute debates with Trump? Seems like a wonderful time to get even more sick so she doesn’t have to participate….

            BAH wishful thinking huh?

          • 17

I think we still have to be careful what we wish for. Look who’s waiting in the wings. Look who could be running the place. What a fucking mess.

          • MsPythia

Nothing could keep Madame Wobbles from reaching for that brass ring. Even if she’s having convulsions she’d keep hoovering up the cash and trying to be president. She’s fine with the idea of ruling the country from a hospital bed in the Oval.

          • 17

Wonder if Bill loves her, or if it’s just a business partner in crime relationship?

          • MsPythia

Partners in Crime is my guess. They probably do admire their corruption and see themselves as a team.

          • 17

That’s what I think too. I’d think he’d be a little more caring about what the race is doing to her health otherwise. He’s got to be thinking of the money and power to be gained by her getting the office.

          • MsPythia

It’s not normal for average people, but politicians like the the Clinton’s clearly aren’t normal or average.

          • Shohanna

That description gave me an image from Loony Toons, of that ant eater the vacuums up all of bugs carrots and he has a cow. lol

          • MsPythia

            😀

  • 17

    ..

    • MsPythia

      Good morning to you 17!

      • 17

Sorry I’m a little slow this morning. Still got the duck shit in me eyes 😉

        • MsPythia

          🙂

  • Shohanna

haha Morning. Could only manage about 6 hours. /sigh GAH I hate this..

    • 17

6 hours is good. Think of it like night light savings time. 😉

  • Monday’s Open Thread is up, enjoy!

And don’t forget SmotPoker’s new story!

(herp! reload if link doesn’t work)

    • Nevin

Monday’s thread reminds me of Sundays.

Edit: Never mind, it finally opened correctly.

      • 17

        Never Forget 😉

      • You can always go to the home page. I don’t post the message until I’ve seen the article on the homepage. 😀

        • Nevin

          That’s the easy way.

  • Nevin

CNN finally got some balls and is eviscerating Clinton. Not only did they go after her secrecy, but how she blew this by not telling people she had pneumonia. They even said if there is no video of the incident doubtful we would even know Clinton had pneumonia.

    • The_Fixer

Good morning, Blue. I wonder if she really has pneumonia, or if it’s something more serious? They might have played “match the symptoms” and picked it rather than what she really has, which could be much more serious.

She lies so much that you never know what the truth is. Whatever it is, I think she’s been dealing with it for quite a while, what with her sparse public appearances and the obvious hacking cough she’s had for months.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

      • Nevin

Morning Fixer. It has been pointed out by many that it took an awful long time for them to come out with her having pneumonia. I have a friend that gets pneumonia quite a bit and it is very obvious she is sick with the hoarse voice and coughing. I would hate to think they would lie about a health problem, but they kinda have through omission.

  • The_Fixer

Good morning, everyone. Just in here for a few minutes and then gotta scoot.

But I saw this earlier and wonder if it will be up much longer (it is Huffpost, and they have been known to wipe other anti-Hillary articles):

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/bring-back-bernie-sanders-clinton-might-actually-lose_us_57d66670e4b0273330ac45d0

I may just copy it in case it gets wiped.

    • MsPythia

Shillz would have to voluntarily step away from running for president, and we know that’s never going to happen!

      • The_Fixer

Morning, MsP. Yes, like the NRA boobs say, you can pry this nomination from her cold, dead hands – but no other way she will give it up.
