    ..

    • Morning 17. Job interview this morning, so if I am not back for the Town Hall, and you can find the video streams, feel free to post and feature them!

      • 17

Gonna have to leave that job to someone else, I’m sorry to say, but I’m sure it’ll get put up. I will feature them though.

        • I can’t believe I’m actually ready to go early. Usually I’m stressing right up until I have to leave for these things. Interview is at 10, Town Hall starts at 11, so I may well be back in time. Just wanted to make sure we have it covered.

          • 17

            We’ll handle it 😉

          • Dosido3

Thanks for all you do, guys.

      • 17

        Refresh please.

    • Shohanna

So, 17 must be significant for you. It must have some huge meaning, a way to remember, so you don’t forget. It must be some anniversary of some particular important date, that should you forget, your life would be forfeit. Let me guess…

      Wedding Anniversary? **snickers**

      • 17

Everybody asks. Sorry, it’s just an internet name I pulled out of my ass. I sat trying to come up with a name, and every one I came up with needed a number behind it, so I decided to cut out the middle man. “17” don’t mean shit to me. But it would be irresponsible not to speculate.

        • Shohanna

Gotcha, I don’t like having numbers after my name either. I like the “original” or “unique” aspect of names. Hence I haven’t changed Shohanna. No one else had it. 😀 There are a few others I keep under wraps and only use in games. I have already had a few “copied” on other servers and it’s like GAH that’s MY NAME. hahah

British air force admits involvement in airstrikes which hit Syrian govt troops

News of the RAF’s involvement in this disgusting war crime comes as little surprise to me, it is sadly all too
predictable that Britain follows the US like a faithful little puppy, all too eager to take part in the military misadventures and meddling inthe affairs of others.

This is far from a new thing either, the RAF has slaughtered innocent people in the Middle East many times
before, going all the way back to it’s earliest days post-WW1.

    Aiding and Abetting Apartheid

There’s some talk that Obama might now make one last push to get Netanyahu and the Palestinian Authority to the negotiating table. But what possible leverage would Obama have? Commit war crimes, use excessive force against peaceful demonstrators, continue dispossessing Palestinians and expanding settlements: you still get $38 billion in military aid. The message will be lost on no one.

Native Americans Document Hundreds of Pipeline Leaks and Oil Spills Kept Secret by North Dakota Government

North Dakota’s oil frenzy is leaking like a sieve. You most likely have not heard about it because fracking
companies, pipeline owners, and state officials have been keeping information about hundreds of oil spills secret for years.

Occupy Wall Street, five years on: fire in the dustbin of history

Five years ago today, the Occupy movement began in Lower Manhattan. Thousands of activists took over New York City’s Zuccotti Park, a square of semi-public land suspended between Wall Street and Ground Zero, and declared their intent to stay. Their goals were broad enough to appear incoherent: nothing more or less than total change to the political narrative, with jobs, healthcare, education and debt relief as transitional demands. The sheer gall of it started a global conversation about income inequality that continues to this day.

    • Roughly around the same time as Occupy Wall Street event occurred, Cooper Union in New York City was occupied as well.

For those who haven’t seen the documentary Ivory Tower not only does it go in detail how we have thoroughly screwed our young people in this country. It also is one of the best films to capture the Occupy Movement. A must View.

Syria: No “Dusty Boy” Outrage for 7 yr old Haider, Sniped by NATO Terrorists in Idlib Village of Foua

On the 15th September, 7 year old Haider Ammar Al Hamoud, was shot through the stomach by an Ahrar Al Sham sniper, the US backed terrorist group besieging the Idlib villages of Kafarya and Foua. Haider was ignored by western media.

His life-threatening injury did not merit any outcry from human rights organisations or the NATO-aligned media who ignore the deaths and injuries of tens of thousands of children in Syria because it does not
serve their agenda to demonize the Syrian President, Bashar al Assad or the national armed forces.

Half of Dr. Oz’s medical advice is baseless or wrong, study says

…researchers with the British Medical Journal weren’t nearly so comfortable. They selected 40 episodes from last year, identifying 479 separate medical recommendations. After paging through the relevant medical research, they found evidence only supported 46 percent of his recommendations, contradicted 15 percent and wasn’t available for 39 percent.

You are likely to get better medical advice from Dr. SmotPoker.

The Largest Prison Strike in U.S. History Enters Its Second Week

The largest prison strike in U.S. history has been going on for nearly a week, but there’s a good chance you haven’t heard about it. For months, inmates at dozens of prisons across the country have been organizing through a network of smuggled cellphones, social media pages, and the support of allies on the outside. The effort culminated in a mass refusal to report to prison jobs on September 9, the anniversary of the 1971 Attica prison uprising.

‘Declaration of war’: Ind. US candidate slams Washington’s moves in Syria

Independent US presidential candidate Souraya Dolly Faas has called the US bombing of Syrian army positions near the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor an “act of war.” The 35-year-old teacher urged the US to cooperate with Russia and not play “superhero” on the wrong side.

    https://www.rt.com/op-edge/359818-syria-bombing-war-declaration/

    • Shohanna

I am lost. Where is the explanation of how this can be an act of war? To me, as I am listening to her, it’s like she has no idea what kind of politics is being played between everyone. Her boldness to declare what this is, is in ignorance. So would someone else attempt to explain it so I am up to date?

    • Shohanna

How do these two incidents connect? Seriously, with the news that the US is “working w ISIS” in Syria, and these bombings….

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/09/18/three-mysterious-incidents-in-new-york-new-jersey-and-minnesota-raise-fears-of-terrorism/?utm_term=.1e529a019b91

TELL ME HOW please?! I really want to understand this. I want to know the details. Again, I do not believe what the media is attempting to say. I want to know the undercurrent this Teacher is trying to implicate. Is she ignorant? Is it that I am just too tired to connect the dots? (No coffee yet.)

I will have to think about this a bit longer apparently. O.o

  • SpiffyTheValiant

    excellent news 🙂

that they are having a town hall 🙂

        • Ah…Good Afternoon Spiffy :^)

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            afternoon 🙂

  • SmotPoker

Well fuck. I’ve had my doubts, but after today I must admit the truth of the matter that in my household there has been some very serious sexual abuses going on. I tried to ignore it, pretending that it might not be happening, a figment of my imagination, but I can no longer do it.

I had noticed that every time I leave the house, be it to take the dog outside to go potty, or to run to Kroger’s for food, when I return, I return to a scene of a horrifying sexual assault more often than not.

My older male cat Lenny needs to be locked up in cat prison, get counseling or something. He assaults my daughters poor cat that is young enough to be his great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great granddaughter.

Not to put too gross of a point on it, but her back fur has become a little bit “matted” with stuff. When I enter the house to these scenes, he just kind of looks at me as if to dare me to stop him, then continues with his assault.

So if I have to see this stuff every day, now it’s in your heads as well. Enjoy.

    • Shohanna

hahhaha Nature usually works like that. Is his balls gone or not? Maybe it’s time to do that. So he will not have it on the brain to try to screw your female cat?

      • SmotPoker

Balls are gone, been gone since he was a wee kitten, I still remember the day it was done like it was yesterday, but I can’t tell you what I had for dinner 3 nights ago….

        • Shohanna

Isn’t that how it always works? I have a few incidents like that.. /nod More really.. Sometimes when I am reminded of them they can give me the nightmares. hahaha

He is persistent it looks like. Bathroom detention!

      • SpiffyTheValiant
        • Shohanna

ROFLMAO!! I love it. /nod that’s exactly the look my boy gave me when he got his balls removed.. LOL

          • SpiffyTheValiant

lol it’s a wonder the pets want anything to do with us afterwards.

          • Shohanna

Right?! I be so mad.. And it’s true, he was mad at me for about a week. He got over it though. 😀

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            lmao.

          • SmotPoker

            Damn that turned bad quickly…..

I accuse my cat of rape, and the first thing you gals want are his balls….

          • Shohanna

Well isn’t that what we want to do to rapists? Pretty sure it is.. No matter who has done the raping or why.. LOL

          • Shohanna

I wish we COULD do that to real proven rapists. take their “drive” to commit atrocities away. Sure we still couldn’t stop them from using an outside force to rape, but we can make it more difficult for them to enjoy taking the will of someone else.

        • lol 🙂

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            poor kitties

Yeah, military veteran treating people here as if they are the fucking enemy. THIS is why we should NOT allow military to become Police officers. Their training is NOT in sync with how the police should work. Either we have PEACE officers, or we Do not. There is no in between and if they want to avoid being the hand of fascism they should realize that.

Self-driving cars coming sooner than you think: Lyft

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/self-driving-cars-coming-sooner-think-lyft-142228195.html

There is no way in hell I will get in an “autonomous” car. IF I can’t drive it; fuck that noise. And they better not think they can “take” my car away either. O.O Have these people seen the designs of southern cities? Affordable housing is 20+ miles away from city center without fucking buses that run on a normal schedule. The entirety of the Southern US is designed around REQUIRING a fucking car here. (Where I live). It was PURPOSELY done that way to separate the poor from the rich and I am pretty DAMN sure that it will stay that way so they can continue to keep them separated and keep their oil reserves selling, etc etc. I don’t think Lyft even understands that IF we moved where they are “predicting” there WILL be war, the people who OWN the oil, want to SELL that oil and they will make sure we are still slaves to the car until they do SO. Your tiny little business of just having “the needed” amount will blow up in their face. I can nearly guarantee it.

Grrr I wish they would make up their mind. I want the MATH, the math will say whether we shifted signs or not. Seriously, it’s not really a big deal. I mean there are some stereotypical things you can point out that line up with your birth sign. Which is the whole fun of astrology to me. Which means… IF it’s TRUE that we have “shifted” since the map was created, it would mean that people would resemble the sign they were BORN under regardless of what it was….

    Why Socialism?
    by Albert Einstein

“The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labor—not by force, but on the whole in faithful compliance with legally established rules. In this respect, it is important to realize that the means of production—that is to say, the entire productive capacity that is needed for producing consumer goods as well as additional capital goods—may legally be, and for the most part are, the private property of individuals.”

    • Dosido3

oh what does that guy know? He wasn’t rich, just some dumb scientist…
Seriously, I have heard the term social Darwinism. I thought I knew what it meant. But recently, I looked further and saw that people equate being rich with being virtuous. I mean, what? Where in the hell did that idea come from? Not from any gospel I ever heard about. No wonder so many people hate the homeless.

If I got a free upgrade to that seat I might make a video too. Probably not, but I would think about it.

I once got upgraded, free, to a first class seat flying back to Canada and we got our own little pods where the seat reclined fully into a bad with blankets. I was fucking amazing. It’s a 16 hour flight. I arrived well fed, rested and fresh as a daisy.

      • Really you would consider making a video drooling and obsessing about obscene wealth, while other larger more vulnerable sections of our society go without basic necessities?

        • Edwin

          ^_^

          No. Never.

          • I guess, I don’t understand your original post then.

Do you know what really ticks me off about those two videos?

Is the first one, about the plane seat has been up for less than 24 hours ..10 hours to be exact, and has almost a million views.

The Hungry Children in Africa video has been up for 2 years and hasn’t even hit a quarter-million views yet.
I got one up vote before we went on to have a fabulous discussion about Downton Abbey. It’s depressing. People are depressing.

          • Edwin

Because we are bombarded with bad news day and night everywhere we go. Everything is fucked all over the world and our politics have been hijacked by the 0.1% and people feel helpless and sad. It gets to be too much for people.

          • I appreciate your post, and I see the inherent truth in what you say.

A part of me empathizes we all need breaks, we all have to have a filter. I get it, I’m that way too. Another part of me wants to tell people to suck it up already. Life is hard. We’re going to have to take a long hard look at our cultural foibles if we want to move on.

          • Edwin

A few distractions and a bit of fun always make the journey more bearable and more pleasant.

Have you ever been bumped into first class on a 16 hour flight, for free? Oh, man… is it ever fucking heaven!!! Even 10 years later I remember it. Heaven.

          • I’m just happy when they stick me on a real plane, as opposed to a commuter. Where all the pilots seems to have an uncanny ability to hit every air pocket in the sky.

It’s true. We’re in the Decadence phase of the decline and it will get worse.

I watched the Four Horsemen video last night, you recommended. They were talking about that. Also putting chefs on a pedestal.

I think about the poor and unfortunate all the time, every day.

          • Thank you Edwin, that means a lot to me that you watched that 🙂 I also don’t mean to make your heart any more heavy than it already is on the topic. *Hugs*

I cringed when I saw that bit about Chefs, for I was a pastry chef for a Resort Hotel. I was never offered a show though..lol.

I wanted you to watch The Four Horsemen to ask you a question about the consumer tax that they were discussing, but I’ll just go ahead and watch it again. I much appreciate the discussion.

People are unwilling to look reality in the face. It’s too terrifying. So they distract themselves or go on autopilot. For most people empathy ends at their doorway.

          • Edwin

I look reality in the face too much and need some distractions. (I bet a lot of others do too.)

      • towerofbabel

I flew to Taipei like that, in the upper cabin. A client that made parts for Apple iPhone paid for that ticket–because I asked. OK. He lived in a huge house with his domestic help. One was a Filipino woman who treated him like her son, sassing him while she cooked his breakfast. It was an odd sort of intimate relationship between radically different classes. Human beings are so strange. Chronically connected and disconnected at the same time. And, crazy in the head too.

        • Edwin

I just got bumped in there by surprise. I was bracing myself for 16 hours to Toronto sitting upright, awake in my seat the whole way with gawd knows who beside me. Then they called my name and escorted me to this sleeping pod and brought me champagne and smoked salmon as soon as I sat down and after dinner a fruit and cheese trolley and liqueurs (except I don’t drink, but it looked nice and I felt pampered.) Then I put my chair down into a flat bed (in my own personal cocoon), pulled the blankets up around my chin and slept most of the trip.

          It looked like this.

When I have a long international flight I always try to get business class because it is impossible to be cogent the next day if you are dead tired. Incidentally, on a trip back from Beirut, though London, I ended up in the hospital in Toronto with food poisoning. Most likely form my MEA of Delta flights. The only truly great flight I have had was the Taipei trip, like you said, I actually landed well rested.

Jim Car(r)ey Sued Over Former Girlfriend’s Drug Death

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/jim-carrey-sued-girlfriends-drug-930784 (don’t you love how they spell his name wrong? Sure that makes this all the more “blame” territory.)

This chick was also found with Propanolol, which is a heart medication similar to the one I am taking. It’s a beta blocker and does not give you any kind of “high”. It lowers your blood pressure. which pretty sure that would be the ideal goal if you are attempting suicide. There is no kind of “antidote” to this medication. It blocks the medications that would reverse it’s effects. it doesn’t block an epi-pen. (I have to have meds that allow my epi-pen.) However, epi-pens don’t last very long so you have to make sure you get to the hospital.

AS FAR as I know, Propanolol is so controlled you can not get it outside of a doctor’s prescription, unless you know someone who is taking this medication for a heart condition. Dr’s have to put their names on this script. In legible script. Or the pharmacy won’t even fill it. So, seriously, I have no idea who gave it to her but DAMN, she must have had a sad, sad story. Either THAT, OR SHE was already ON this medication.

I doubt very seriously that Carey had anything to do with this incident. Why would he? As far as I have read she was stalking him and he tried very hard to let her down as easy as he could… O.o

I hope the truth comes out either way.

Sho, am I correct that you have issues with migrain headaches?

      • Shohanna

Yes, yes I do. what’s up?

        • 17

Last night in bed I saw a tv commercial for BOTOX to cure them. Have you heard of this? I thought it was nuts! One of the side effects….HEADACHES!!

          • Shohanna

No, I don’t watch TV. IF I turn that thing on it’s with chromecast and I am watching something on the internet. 😀 heheh

Don’t even have cable tv. So most of the time it’s a blank screen and I tell it what to play.

On topic: I wouldn’t touch that shit with a 10ft pole. It’s poison. It can give botulism, it can give you infections and eeeewwww. No. haha I don’t care if they said it would take them away forever. No. I don’t have them often, but I still rather deal with the migraine then put my life in jeopardy over botulism.

          • 17

That was my first thought, too. First, why the hell would you inject yourself with poison, and secondly, what happened to the idea that botox was gonna get rid of wrinkles? Not enough money in that?

          • Shohanna

Probably from CDC warning these companies that they will pay for the “infection” when they willy nilly it to every woman / man out there. Seriously, it is POISON. I don’t understand why people would compromise their immune system with these. I showed my daughters was BOTOX actually was and what happens when it “goes” wrong. Which it does more frequently then it goes “right”.

**shiver** those pictures are burned into my brain. I hope it did that for my girls. /nod I don’t want them thinking this is safe b/c a DOCTOR gives it. It’s not. Absolutely not.

*** I am not talking about silicone injections either. I am talking about BOTOX, the fluid they inject causes botulism. end of. If your immune system is strong, you fight it off every single day it stays in your body until your immune system is compromised and then you need antibiotics to fight it the rest of the way off. It CAN disfigure you after it’s done.

          • Oh, it hasn’t stopped, far from it, it’s just stopped being interesting as a general “news” story to corporate media outlets.

            http://botoxjuvedermdoctor.com/schedule-a-botox-party/

          • SmotPoker

You must have a minimum of 14 of them a month before you qualify for the Botox treatment. Trust me, I’ve read the literature, and asked the doctor about it. That’s 1 every other day damn near. If I suffered that many a month, I’d of offed myself long ago.

          • Shohanna

Well, I think back to the migraine that lasted 3 weeks and I was __| |_ close to doing myself in over the pain…. IF they had asked me, I would have. I wanted to literally die. 3 SOLID WEEKS.

I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I had to get IV’s at the hospital every few days. I dry heaved, I bled from my throat from the dry heaves. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t hear, I couldn’t FEEL anything but pain.

You have no idea how much I never, ever want that headache back. O.O

It was caused from the BC Shot, Depoprovera and they never fucking WARNED me. 🙁 TBH I was the first with that headache and I was also the reason they had to put on the shot after that may cause long lasting migraine.

First child dies by legal euthanasia in Belgium

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/child-dies-by-euthanasia-in-belgium-where-assistance-in-dying-is-legal/

It’s about goddamned time that people realized forcing children to go through PAINFUL medications and painful treatments is inhumane. I understood death at a very young age. I knew what it was and how it worked. I didn’t like it, obviously, but I understood. And thinking back on past choices and decisions I have made, clarified what death was, it didn’t “change” it.

If my child was in terminal illness and she/he told me they wanted to die, and understood they were going to anyway! Of course I would do all I could to make sure they could make that choice.

Treating children like property should be fucking illegal. It’s “Slavery” by any other fucking name.

    • Seems fine to me, given the sensible restrictions put in place:

The Belgian law has very strict rules for the euthanasia to be approved. It requires the minor to be in the final stages of a terminal illness, to understand the difference between life and death rationally and to have asked to end his or her life on repeated occasions. It also requires parental consent and finally the approval of two doctors, including a psychiatrist.

      • Shohanna

Was actually referring to how we do it here in America. I absolutely agree with how Belgium is implementing it. /nod It’s how we should as well.

Why is it that cheating in the primary is OK, doable, in the realm of possibility, somehow acceptable, and having Clinton step down and turn the campaign over to Sanders out of the question? • panem et circenses

Never let a liberal convince you they were ever on the side of progress. They’ve at most been a fly on the wall, resenting progress forged by leftists and taking credit for it after it became socially acceptable. At worst they’re another stumbling block we have to hop over in order for any social progress to be made.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

I identify as a Liberal. I keep hearing people say progressive is better. I prefer the label Liberal. I feel like Progressive was brought back at some point, for Liberals who were too scared to say they were Liberals. Supposedly their is a difference between Liberals and Progressives.

Now I just divide it between Clintonbot Types (they are fair weather friends at best and at worst our enemies.) and real liberals.

        • panem et circenses

I’m neither liberal nor “progressive”, and neither of them are terms I hold in high regard. You can’t reform capitalism or make the state work for you rather than those who have the most wealth and influence, and it’s wishful thinking to believe that you can.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

I see. What do you identify as then?

          • panem et circenses

            I’m an anti-state anti-capitalist.

          • While I will often answer “Progressive,” those labels hide a wealth of sins: anyone can claim to be a Liberal or Progressive, because they have no fixed definition. Hence, Hillary Clinton can claim to be a “Progressive.” So, instead of using these iffy labels, I prefer to just define myself on the standard two-axis chart used by most (honest) political scientists.

On that system, I identify as a social libertarian and an economic centrist (with every the slightest lean left)

(raw numbers: economic: -0.25 social: -7.89)

          • Let’s not use loose terminology, just go here:

Is this the one that maps you on an x/y axis? If so, I fit in the very bottom left hand corner.

          • There are a lot of them that map on a two-axis chart. Once you eliminate the 80% that are just Libertarian Party funnels, this is the best, most accurate of them, in my [educated] opinion. 😀

Hillary Clinton Woos Millennials With Impassioned Speech

          By Sarah P

Hillary Clinton continues to struggle with a voting bloc that helped
propel President Obama into the White House – millennials. She has
tried a variety of outreach techniques, but none seem to be working so
          far.

FiveThirtyEight reports that Clinton is only getting half as many votes from this critical “18-25” age group as Obama did during both of his elections. Not to say
that they are going for Trump. They are not. Phew. But she is losing
votes to third party candidates, and that is a problem.

          http://crooksandliars.com/2016/09/hillary-clinton-gives-impassioned-speech

Ha fucking Ha. Let’s rip the party to shreds and unite it again later. Should be EZPZ, right? Fuck those privileged millennials, they stupid white kids.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

It’s not just white kids. Apparently black kids are flipping her off too.

          • Edwin

Yeah. I decided to change it to just spoiled rotten kids. I remember them saying that shit. Wonder if she’s sorry now. (No, she isn’t.)

          • SpiffyTheValiant

Nope. Apparently pretending that we are just too stupid and/or ignorant to realize how much she has given us, is going to do the trick.

          • Edwin

These kinds of comments are allowed as long as they are pro-Hillary. I guess the site team didn’t deem this as hateful or sexist as per revised TOS March 2016. Keepin’ it classy for Clinton

    • Edwin

Ha ha. I fall in the same place, only not so high up the authoritarian axis.

    • Looks good. 😀

You probably wouldn’t like my Master’s thesis though, which is that, when implemented in the real world, any systemic economic policies too far to the left or the right, inevitably move a society to the authoritarian end of the social scale, because both far-left and a far-right economic policies concentrate power and wealth in the hands of a few.

BUT we’d have a hell of a long way to the Left to go before we got there. LOL.

      • SpiffyTheValiant

Probably not, but that’s okay. I’m too lazy to write a master’s thesis.

        https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a7298a8d554d6441877b2b4c2d210baa1d7d29b9354daf7471862476a6dafeda.jpg

        • I had to, otherwise I would have lost my funding and had to get a real job. 😀 LOL.

          • SpiffyTheValiant
          • It didn’t work anyways, I still had to get a real job, in the end.

But, anyone on the libertarian end of the social scale I consider an ally, as long as they’re not too far to the right, economically. Because one way the two ends of the economic spectrum differ is that right-wing economics immediately start creating inequality and suffering, whereas you have to go pretty far left to start getting any ill effects from left-wing economics..

          • SpiffyTheValiant

ah i see. I was disappointed that I didn’t see a specific description for what my result meant.

          • Well, economically, you want government to own most of the means of production: factories, stores, etc.

Socially you want almost no restriction on what people can do, with government regulating one’s social behavior only where it encroaches on others’ liberties. Pretty much the exact views I hold.

          • Well, economically, you want government to own most of the means of production: factories, stores, etc. With government being the primary employer.

Socially you want almost no restriction on what people can do, with government regulating one’s social behavior only where it encroaches on others’ liberties. Pretty much the exact views I hold.

          • Note: My interpretation, based on the scores.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

😛 then why was your dot so far away from mine?

          • Because I believe in a strong market-economy, with the only a small amount of the means of production owned by the community (such things as energy production, pensions, health provision, etc.) and strong regulation of the marketplace to prevent it from causing harm to society as a whole (financial limits, like Glass-Stegall, ecological and workplace regulations, to secure good quality of life, etc.)

Which is where we were moving throughout the 30s to the 80s, and nothing like what we have now, which is close to being as far right-wing as you can get. See the “US Election 2016” image below, under Johnson or Clinton (Trump is actually less right-wing than Clinton). Stein’s placement on the chart shows why I’m such a big supporter: She represent the closest political values to mine.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            ah

          • And if you’re asking yourself the, “How full of shit is he?” question, because it’s a lot to take in, dumped out like that, you can google and see that I’m not making any inaccurate statements about “left” and “right” economics. Pretty standard definitions.

And that’s one thing I like about this test. It seems to really stick to interpretation through the standard definitions and not any dogmatic stuff like “There is No Right Wing Authoritarianism” like you’d get from the American Libertarian party. 😀

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            coolness 🙂

          • panem et circenses

Who’s going to impose those strong market regulations, your capitalist rulers?

      • panem et circenses

“Too far” to the left is anarchism, and there’s nothing authoritarian about it. It’s as anti-authoritarian as you can get. The problem with Marxism-Leninism is that it was too far to the right and kept institutions of state control in place, essentially becoming monopoly state-capitalists.

Although I posted a few comments with swear words in it when people really pissed me off even if I didn’t know them. I swore at Tracy Maria(name?) At C&L she really got under my skin. I actually insulted her as a person, and I make a very strong effort not to insult somebody personally. I called her a snake and then said I have extra time for snake stomping.

          • She was an awful person and used standard psychological “I’m really likable” cues to get away with being a liar and general scumbag. Obviously she and I clashed the fist time I saw her post. I hate fake people and behavior and call it out when I see it, no matter how many “social-group points” it loses me. 🙁

          • Believe it or not that was my first interaction with her as well & thankfully the last.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

      • Evening, HT. Hope you’re feeling better today. (or is that toaday?)

      • panem et circenses

This test is in no way definitive. There are some statements that’re unanswerable for me because they have no meaning to an anarchist, and answering no doubt pushes the dot in the wrong direction by requiring an answer. There’s also no difference between domination by the state or by private institutions. “Right libertarianism” and “left authoritarianism” are oxymoronic.

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            🙂

          • Used to love Halloween. People have turned me off to it. New years, mostly I just ignore it. Now, Valentine’s day? There’s where my special hatred lies. 😀

          • Annaleigh

If I had to pick a holiday I didn’t like or care about, it would maybe be Easter. Mostly because it falls on Sunday, I don’t really celebrate Easter at all anymore (I did as a child, and then from 2002-2007 when I was an evangelical), and so I’m bored even more than usual.

          • That’s such a religious thing, I didn’t even think of it, as I don’t practice a religion.

          • Annaleigh

Not necessarily, when I was a child it was all about the egg hunt, the Easter basket, etc. But I guess that now that I’m an adult and non-religious that’s why there’s no interest in it for me.

          • Edwin

I still love Halloween, but I hate what I see on TV shows where people go way WAY way overboard. I liked it when it was homemade fun when I was a kid, not a day to rival Xmas in shopping for junk. I’ve been overseas so long and not seen it, but I was in Canada for it in 2012 and it was OK.

          • SmotPoker

I get the strangest looks during Halloween, when I go to the store, and buy a ton of apples, and a bunch of razor blades. It’s like these folks have never seen anyone with a Gandalf beard buy razor blades, and fruit before….

          • I would spoil the crap out of you, until you absolutely counted the days until the next holiday 😀

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

It would take lot, and not saying that because I wants more stuff (screw you Hillary). Also not materially.

          • Yeah I didn’t think that would capture your heart. It would be good food, laughter lots of fun.

We play this one game on Christmas where you wrap a gift in a whole bunch of newspaper and every so often you add a layer of masking tape and then you sit in a circle and roll dice and if you hit doubles you get to try and unwrap it, but you have to wear gloves scarf and a hat we are cracking up by the time it’s done:^)

Random Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos excitement here:

I just noticed that Reddit Gifts just opened up the sign-ups for the Trick or Treat exchange. *giddy* This will be my 3rd annual exchange. I will be on pins and needles on match day to start brainstorming ideas for the package for my giftee. I still have to try and figure out if I can send a pan de muerto from the bakery to my giftee because I don’t want it going stale before it arrives. Also tomorrow’s a shopping day towards getting ready for the trailer park kids. 1/2 of Halloween stuff at Rite Aid so I’m stocking up!

This year I have noticed that mainstream, non-Mexican descent USA society seems to be catching on to some idea of Dia de Los Muertos. A few years ago I started giving out Dia de Los Muertos candy from Oriental Trading (meant for giving out to trick or treaters, which is a little of a difference) which at the time seemed rare, and I also had a little girl come dressed as La Catrina. Then last year my online/catalog sources boomed with DDLM candy and party favors and when I was at Target last year I was over the moon because they had favors too. This year just briefly checking things out at Rite Aid and Walgreens I saw a ton of DDLM stuff. On the one hand people might complain about cultural appropriation, on the other hand I think at least for the community here being overwhelmingly of Mexican descent it’s a great way for us to recognize both holidays and even mix them in interesting ways.

          • notisaidthepig

I’ve had a trying day myself. Hope it’s not setting the tone for the week. Sigh.

          • Are the kids having trouble adjusting to Monday?

          • notisaidthepig

well……it was kind of crazy. a kid had a meltdown in the classroom
next to mine. it was a sight to behold. and to hear! the thing is he
walked out of the room and opened my door and started making comments to
me and my class. vulgar comments. his regular teacher tried to take
him out but he started yelling, “don’t touch me you fucking bitch” and
on and on and on it went. needless to say it was hard to teach my class after that. the “incident” took up about 20 minutes. security had to step in but i don’t think they did a great job. sigh.

          • notisaidthepig

You’ve hit the nail on the head. Yes, it’s an “urban” school. But, to be honest, it’s not too bad. I worked at a more “urban” or “inner city” school some years ago. The kid having the meltdown is in foster care. I’ll let you imagine the rest of what this poor kid’s life must be like. It’s heartbreaking.

Here you go again, in case this comment was missed:

      Anarchism is literally anti-authoritarianism:

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-authoritarianism

Anarchism is the original intent behind communism, before it was appropriated by statists in the same way the word “socialists” was appropriated by the Nazis. That’s why true communists today differentiate themselves from MLs and other tankie liberals by calling themselves ancoms (anarcho-communists).

      • panem et circenses

Communism: A social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and the absence of social classes, money, and the state.

Who keeps the perfect system pure?

        • panem et circenses

Everyone. But there’s little necessity for policing in a non-currency, non-private property based society where everyone’s needs are met. The vast majority of laws are property laws meant to keep hierarchy in tact.

  • 16 years ago, a doctor published a study. It was completely made up, and it made us all sicker.

Once upon a time, a scientist named Dr. Andrew Wakefield published in the medical journal The Lancet that he had discovered a link between autism and vaccines.

After years of controversy and making parents mistrust vaccines, along with collecting $674,000 from lawyers who would benefit from suing vaccine makers, it was discovered he had made the whole thing up.
