UnkaWillbur - May 26, 2017

Here' some links to nosh on, to start of your weekend. I hope everyone's weekend is great; me, myself, I'm planning on jumping out of a perfectly…

  • SmotPoker

We can all say goodbye to William Christopher (Father Mulcahy on MASH) as well, one of the final victims of 2016.

    • Damnit. I thought we had gotten through it.

      • SmotPoker

One last kick in the nuts to remember it by I guess….

        • kreskin

          that’s what it feels like

          • towerofbabel

Let’s hope we don’t look back at 2016 as the good old days…

          • kreskin

            Yeah , no kiddin , let’s hope .

          • SmotPoker

Even worse for the ones that died, but yeah…

      • towerofbabel

Sometimes nothingness has an appeal. But let’s face it, our histories are forever written in time and we cannot go back and change them.

    • kreskin

84 years old , hard to believe .

Happy New Year everybody. Hope you all have a good 2017.

  • “The beauty and the simplicity of such a theory are so great that it is easy to forget that it follows not from the actual facts, but from an incomplete hypothesis introduced for the sake of simplicity. … The conclusion that individuals acting independently for their own advantage will produce the greatest aggregate of wealth, depends on a variety of unreal assumptions …

Individualism and laissez-faire could not, in spite of their deep roots in the political and moral philosophies of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, have secured their lasting hold over the conduct of public affairs, if it had not been for their conformity with the needs and wishes of the business world of the day. …

These many elements have contributed to the current intellectual bias, the mental make-up, the orthodoxy of the day.”

Greg Pallast – How Do Republicans Get Away With Voter Suppression?

    http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/38936-how-do-republicans-get-away-with-voter-suppression

    • Because Democrats allow it as part of “the power-sharing agreement.”

      😀

      • kreskin

The’re pretty much one and the same now .

    • thud

Pallast has been illuminating the ongoing destruction for quite some time to no avail. The story never gets out to a broad audience. About all we can hope for is that the RW will overplay their hand and destroy their beloved power structure. I consider this to actually be quite likely. I just hope they don’t pull another another Pearl Harbor and use war to rally the troops.

Voting is what we do to avoid having to do anything to change the situation. So the outcome is irrelevant.

        • kreskin

Good one . Kinda like sticking a pacifier in our own mouths.

        • thud

If Lord Trump manages to piss off enough people they might start voting. But what price will we pay to get to that point? Education ain’t gonna work. People are cynical or indifferent and the media is just fine with that.

        • thud

Some politicians ARE worse than others. It ain’t over yet.

Not that he has the guts but now is the time for Obama to recognize a Palestinian State.

      Ain’t gonna happen.

He got a parting cheap shot in on Yahooo , I think that’s as far as it’ll go . Glad he did it .

      • towerofbabel

He’s got to build a library. (Full of what?)

        • kreskin

          Desperate for something positive .

        • Full of shit, if his two terms as president are anything to go by.

  • towerofbabel

Eventually each spark goes out and new ones spring to life.

  • From Ars Techinica, who, collectively, know a thing or two about the internet and hacking.

White House fails to make case that Russian hackers tampered with electionTalk about disappointments. The US government’s much-anticipated analysis of Russian-sponsored hacking operations provides almost none of the promised evidence linking them to breaches that the Obama administration claims were orchestrated in an attempt to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.

  • kreskin

    RAW STORY .

I’m sure this one will be a big hit .

kreskin • in a few seconds

Hilz lost to a relatively unknown black man , then to a world class buffoon and blow-hard , that’s quite a feat . Could it be that she is a lousy candidate who ran a couple of terrible presidential campaigns ? Nahhhhhhhh …..

Get real people , grow up .
