    Risks of Trump’s ‘Winning’ Obsession

Donald Trump’s more pragmatic approach to foreign policy may be an improvement over the recent ideological obsessions but his own obsession with “winning” could cause trouble, says ex-CIA analyst
    Paul R. Pillar.

On the Paul Ryan on medicare, I don’t believe it for a minute. Medicare is not only okay for the eldery, but great subsidy for insurance companies who don’t have to cover an age group that WILL certainly have major health issues. The ACA itself as I think all of readers on this site know was originally a GOP plan to subsidize insurance company with mandate that everyone must gdt health insurance. If anything happens with the ACA it will be dropping things like benifit caps. The GOP is doing a pretend fight the same way the Dems put on pretend fights. Heck the GOP is even better than the Democrats at pretend fights. Dropping medicare or the ACA would hurt the 1%.

Salon : Despite Iraq debacle, the media is still empowering neocon warmongers on Russian hack story.

” No, Putin didn’t hack the power grid; journalists need to take a breath and get it right .”

For crise sakes , can we please stop calling these assholes journalists ? They are no such thing !

    • No, but that’s one of the Faustian bargains people make to be regarded as marginally acceptable in the corporate media sphere: They have to pretend Billionaires’ Flacks are journalists.

Reason #1493 why I love the internet. How else would I see this kind of footage? Youtube has tons and tons of it. I saw some fascinating ones in Japan, pre-war.

        • notisaidthepig

Yes, I caught that. It’s really interesting to see because it’s so hard for us today to imagine Europe in ruins after the war. The destruction was so pervasive that it’s hard to grasp without actual footage or pictures. Incredible.

          • Edwin

I watch old footage of a lot of things. It is fascinating.

Also, one thing to note, America (and Canada) has never known this kind of destruction of our “homeland” so we are naive about war. It’s not in our collective conscious.

Sure. It’s a small town (population 2300). Not a lot of traffic. Just tie ’em to a lamp post and give ’em a plate of hay.

Surreal echo chamber , it’s frightening.

” If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. “

  • kreskin

The sloppiness of the alleged DNC hack by itself proves it was not organized by a nation state, and the “utter nonsense” presented as proof of Moscow’s involvement is rather evidence of intelligence agencies being “ignorant and naïve,” John McAfee told RT.
Cybersecurity legend McAfee is one of the modern computer tech pioneers and the developer of the first commercial antivirus program, who has been in the business for the past 50 years. He is also the CEO of MGT Capital Investments, and a former presidential candidate for the Libertarian Party.

The so-called evidence of the Russian involvement in the hacks not only looks like “the most deceptive propaganda was perpetrated on the American public” but actually proves quite the opposite, .

    Rant Alert!

I thought I might go to the movies today. ‘Passengers’ looked to be an interesting movie. I go online to buy a ticket and when I go to check out I see they tack on a $1.85 “convenience” fee. Convenient for who? The company that don’t have to pay for an employee to sell the ticket. I did not complete the ticket purchase. Out of principle I am not going to the movies today. I know I am an grump, right?

    • Edwin

Nope. I would be outraged. I would be looking for “contact us” to send a letter.

    • kreskin

I don’t blame you , that’s one of my pet peeves. Chaps my ass, go to pay a bill over the phone or on line and they’ve got the balls to charge you a convenience fee , charging you an extra fee to pay your fucking bill ! There is no such thing as being too greedy anymore , balls out shameless ridiculous greed is the rule now , not the exception . No wonder why some lose it and go postal , it’s just too much . .
