    The Forgotten Interventions

The long history of US intervention in other countries’ elections has been omitted from discussions of Russia’s alleged meddling.

.Data show the “American Dream” is a fallacy and Americans still don’t realize it

Americans continue to kid themselves that if you work hard you can climb
the ladder. But the perception and reality are moving farther apart.

Economists at Harvard University recently published research
on actual and perceived economic mobility in the United States and four
European countries. They found an American public in denial. The data
show that Americans believe the chance that a person who is born into
the bottom 20% of households in income in the US can reach the top 20%
in adulthood is more than 50% higher than in reality.

    .Trump Team Targets Iran

Saudi Arabia dominates above all other nations as a supplier of suicide bombers, and its royal family dominates as the world’s top financial backer of Al Qaeda and other jihadist groups, but incoming President Donald Trump has chosen to lead his national-security team, only people who blame Iran and not Saudi Arabia, as being the main source of international terrorism.

We have a history of overthrowing governments , for crise sakes ! The latest being the legitimate democratically elected government in Ukraine ! We’re in Syria right now , trying to oust President Assad , have become so desperate to do it that we made ISIS our allies … as the fucking Israelis suggested . .

.Who’s the Real Manipulator of Elections?

Manufactured as needed , we will never run out of them .

  • Dosido3

good morning, peeps. As far as celebrity political commentary goes, I agree with Mark Wahlberg who says celebrities should just stop talking about politics. They don’t walk in our shoes and have no idea what the reality is for folks outside the Hollywood bubble. Hear, hear! I disagree with the link above in that Meryl Streep “got it right”. No, she dissed fellow Americans with her condescending remarks about football and martial arts. I don’t think Nicole Kidman went out of her way to speak about politics, she was asked and was dancing around the question. Maybe she flubbed it, but she was put on the spot, ffs. Just my 2c.

  • Dosido3

There was an interesting discussion yesterday on DDay’s twitter feed about the implications of the drug measure and Booker’s statement (geez, I’m already tired of that guy). Off to find a link. One thing mentioned was that many of the drugs Canadians offer are manufactured in the US and that they have already passed FDA inspection – because it’s the same drug!!! Ugh!

    • EdgarHF

I got to see Tower Of Power open for CCR back in 1971. They stole the show.

      • Dosido3

Wow. Totally jealous. I can understand how the show was stolen!

        • EdgarHF

That was my first rock concert ever by the way.

          • Dosido3

Wow! That’s awesome! I didn’t go to many concerts. I didn’t understand why I didn’t enjoy the experience as much as others until decades later. I have CAPD (an auditory disorder) and I get upset by very loud noise. I also never enjoyed crowds. But I wish I could get past that, because they are so fun. I watched a livestream of Outside Lands with Elton John last year and the fact that is live carries through even though I’m not really there. It’s still pressing my nose against the glass, but it’s real time.

one of my rare concert experiences was Marshall Tucker at the Cow Palace. .38 special opened for them. It was nice, but I freaked about the crowds and “festival seating”. Spinners/Ray Charles Concert at the Circle Star was interesting because my girlfriends and I were the only white people there. But we had assigned seats…no problems.

I think I’ve shared before that had I been hip enough to be in the know and my parents less strict, I could have gone to the Last Waltz. Ugh! Born too late!

      • kreskin

Glad you found your brother , Edgar , hope you get to see him .

        • Edwin

I hope it goes well for you. I know you’ll be happy to be back with your wife. I would find it exciting because I would love to spend some time in Russia. For you it might be more familiar and less exciting.

Too bad about no washing machine. I got used to hand washing on my travels. If I have a clothesline I’m OK with it. Jeans are the only toughie.

          • Edwin

We’ll watch for you. Russia intrigues me so.

I stopped off there on my way to Prague. I wanted to layover for 5 days to see Moscow, but I had 2 big suitcases. I figured I could visit there after my year in Prague, but I didn’t get my work visa there and high-tailed it back to Korea… so I missed out completely. 🙁

I had wanted to see Moscow and St Petersburg and the countryside in between. I had also planned to go to Kiev. Oh well. It wasn’t meant to be, I guess. Maybe one day in the future (??)

        • EdgarHF

Sounds great Kreskin, and good luck to you. I still would like to see Russia someday. I was/am a Russian novel addict. I spoke to my brother last night, btw. I found out I had more vacation time on the books than I thought so I have changed me flight to March. It cost me $50 to change the date, but now I will not have to wait 8 months.

          • kreskin

            That’s great , Edgar , good for you .

      • kreskin

The pharmaceutical companies own those whores. To this day it is against the law the government for the us government to negotiate wit the drug companies for lower drug prices . Get that ? It is against the law !

    • thud

Actually what needs done is to strip the language out of the MMA(Lil’Georges baby) so Medicare can negotiate even as Medicaid and the VA already do so.Congress had to hold the vote open on that stinker until 4:30AM to get it passed.

    • EdgarHF

Don’t forget those fuckers tally votes beforehand. Once they know they have enough votes to throw a monkey wrench into the works some will voted yea only because there are already enough votes to kill the bill. They can then pretend to their constituencies they fought for them. They turned that tactic in an art form when pushing the ACA through congress.

      • kreskin

Yep , that is absolutely true . It’s all set up and agreed upon before hand .

I can’t help it. When I go past a train wreck I just got to gawk. I took another gander at C&L. I can not believe I was ever loyal to that site. The place is a disgusting clown car of obvious propaganda. They are no different than InfoWars. The commenters there are mean spirited and disgusting. I’m not perfect but I at least attempt to be honest with other and myself. I know I should get over with it, but I feel like I have been betrayed by the Democratic Party AND their followers. They completely ignore, at C&L and other DNC fake news sites, all the crap the Democrats are currently doing. It is all Red baiting all the time. They are very careful at the art of propaganda, they muddy the waters reporting on the “dossier” and election hacking, not outright reporting the BS as fact. That way they can deny they are liars. But, they are crooks and liars. They do not care at all who they hurt. They are no better than the right wingers they attack.

    • The place was only ever as good as it’s commenters, and all the good ones have left (and most of those are here!).

      • Dosido3

My only curiosity, really, is what KK’s pathology is. Because her true colors came out in their full glory in the last 12 – 18 months. That said, she’s perfect for the job she’s doing.

        • kreskin

$ , thought she was doing herself a favor … career wise , Hilz was not supposed to lose. She jumped in with both feet , can’t turn back now .

          • Edwin

They probably promised her a cushy job in Hillary’s Ministry of Truth. Now she’s stuck at C&L with the miscreants she invited in. Stupid bitch.

        • Power over other pigs, recognition by pigs with power over her, all the usual animal motivations…

          🙁

        • Edwin

If you do a bit of digging with her name and google, you’ll quickly learn she’s a nasty bit of goods that everyone would be advised to steer well clear of.

      • kreskin

Exactly , there was a really good group of long time regulars there at one time , I didn’t even bother to read the blogger’s pieces … most of the time .

        • Edwin

Me too. Near the end I got to the point I didn’t bother to read most of the blogger crap I just went in the threads for the comments.

Susie, Nicole and Karoli think they built that site, but we did.

      • Edwin

We built the site up for them over the years, made it a rockin’ place, and they stabbed us in the back for H->r.

    • Dosido3

Your use of “gawk” reminds me of a Joan Didion essay from the White Album. It was about the traffic in LA and she spent some time with the engineers who monitor the flow. When traffic slowed down even though an accident wasn’t blocking neighboring lanes, they called it “the gawk effect”. Don’t let C&L slow ya down. Professional drivers learn the lesson, pick up the pieces and walk away. Don’t look back.

      • Edwin

I love to ridicule them. They deserve it. Karoli reads my shit. (Hi Karoli)

If she didn’t she would not have tweeted about me. +_+

        • EdgarHF

          She is a fucking cretin,

          • Edwin

It’s hard for me to decide who is the worst over there. They have all shown their true -nasty- colours this year. They are all hateful assholes.

    • kreskin

Fake liberal / progressives , using libs and progressives for clicks , clicks = dollars . They shit on their regulars , thought that they were making a wise move . After all , Hillary Clinton couldn’t possibly lose to Donald Trump , could she ? They didn’t need the Bernie bros ! LMAO

They got a rude awakening , have been in panic mode every since. Are still in denial . It just breaks my heart , Edgar .

    • kreskin

We should have NEVER settled for less evil . This is the result .

    • Edwin

I had a look in yesterday (I don’t look every day) and they’d gone off the deep end more so than most days. They are completely unhinged and big on deceit and scare-mongering.

It wasn’t like that many years ago when we started going there. Now it’s one of the worst on the internet…. and they weren’t even (cough cough) … in the tank for anyone.

Check out this bullshit from chief liar Karoli:

Seriously, David [Axelrod] . Just sit down and listen to what the wise and
respected Representative has to say. Listen to all of us who are
absolutely in hair-on-fire mode over a stolen election not by our own
Republican party this time, but someone outside of our country. Over a
stolen election that may well install a puppet friendlier to Russian
      interests than our own.

      http://crooksandliars.com/2017/01/just-hush-david-axelrod-let-john-lewis-be

      • EdgarHF

I love the John Lewis story. Lewis tosses out the first insult, Trump tweets an insult in kind and it’s OMG Trump insulted a hero on the eve of MLK day. Those fuckers are discrediting themselves. But, now they can use Trump as cover for advancing their neo-liberal bullshit. The uniparty just wants to wallow in the mud,

        • Edwin

If it weren’t for Trump they would have no blog. No one would show up to read the garbage they post on a daily basis. Karoli is an utter failure as editor. She is lazy and stupid.

Justice Department Report Shows Chicago Police Routinely Use Violence And Lie About It.The city of Chicago, police, and leadership within the CPD and its police officer union “acknowledge that a code of silence among Chicago police officers exists.” This “code of silence” extends to “lying and affirmative efforts to conceal evidence,” the Justice Department found.

  • Cornel West’s words sting, but we must heed them“We hit the streets again with Black Lives Matter and other groups and went to jail for protesting against police killing black youth. We protested when the Israeli Defense Forces killed more than 2,000 Palestinians (including 550 children) in 50 days. Yet Obama replied with words about the difficult plight of police officers, department investigations (with no police going to jail) and the additional $225 million in financial support of the Israeli army. Obama said not a mumbling word about the dead Palestinian children but he did call Baltimore black youth ‘criminals and thugs’.”

Did the Russians Really Hack the DNC?
    by GREGORY ELICH

There are too many inconsistencies and holes in the official story. In all likelihood, there were multiple intrusions into DNC servers, not all of which have been identified. The public ought to be wary of quick claims of attribution. It requires a long and involved process to arrive at a plausible identification, and in many cases the source can never be determined. As Jeffrey Carr explains, “It’s important to know that the process of attributing an attack by a cybersecurity company has nothing to do with the scientific method. Claims of attribution aren’t testable or repeatable because the hypothesis is never proven right or wrong.”

Why Ridiculous Official Propaganda Still Works
    by CJ HOPKINS
The primary aim of official propaganda is to generate an “official narrative” that can be mindlessly repeated by the ruling classes and those who support and identify with them. This official narrative does not have to make sense, or to stand up to any sort of serious scrutiny. Its factualness is not the point. The point is to draw a Maginot line, a defensive ideological boundary, between “the truth” as defined by the ruling classes and any other “truth” that contradicts their narrative.
