    I’ve read the Current Affairs article twice now and still can not figure what message the guy is trying to get across. It does seem like he is still equating the left with the Democrats. He does seem to be thinking the fracture is not a complete split.

    Most humans probably think it’s absurd to consider animals persons. That proves that humans are sub-animal.

    • Yep. My entire experience with animals is that most of them are certainly sentient and smart enough for me to consider them persons. And often better persons than most humans!

        I have to disagree. Ask yourself if you would be able to spay or neuter a person? How about eating a person? In regards to chimps, would we be able to restrict their movement if they were given legal personhood or would we have to allow them to roam freely? No more chimp preserves? Tear down the fences even if doing so would endanger them? And how do we hold them accountable for their behavior? As it stands right now, I’m the one who is held accountable for anything my animals may do to harm people and property because it is up to me to keep them on my property and to control them when I take them off my property.

        Also, most people misuse the word “sentient”. To be sentient means you have the ability to feel and sense changes in your environment, and to react to those changes. It has nothing to do with the ability to think or perceive… with sapience. Biologists are now coming around to the very real possibility that plants and even bacteria are sentient lifeforms.

        Just my two cents. 🙂

    Supreme Court affirms Arizona’s higher minimum wage About 700,000 of the state’s more than 2.5 million workers are expected to benefit when the wage increase is fully implemented in 2020.

    The measure approved by state voters in November and upheld Tuesday by the high court, Proposition 206, also mandates for the first time that employers provide at least three days of paid leave for workers every year. Supporters of the measure, which took effect Jan. 1, said more than 900,000 Arizonans worked in jobs where there was no paid leave.

    While in Thailand the only American news outlet was Fox News. So I only got Punch’s and not Judy’s side of things.

    • Well, their content and narrative is the same, agreed upon one, as CNN and MSNBC, just the focus/rhetoric is different! So, I’d argue that you didn’t miss much., LOL.

        I missed this post!! I am so sorry! I was busy doing the laundry, dishes, little inconsequential things around the house and then I had to go out for a bit. I went to watch Beauty and the Beast! It was great. It made me cry. I recommend it. It’s better then the cartoon. /nod

        I also took a shower and tidied up the bathroom. I am weird like that. lol 😀
