Your Weekend of Weekends.

UnkaWillbur - May 26, 2017

Here' some links to nosh on, to start of your weekend. I hope everyone's weekend is great; me, myself, I'm planning on jumping out of a perfectly…

  • I hope everyone has a great day today, and to start it off, let me present you with a powerful argument against religion…

    • The_Fixer

Oh, my. Perhaps the cobwebs have not cleared from my head yet, but this seems remarkably like it could be real.

And that is scary, both for me and everyone in the world.

      • It’s almost certainly not real, but I hear what you’re cooking: It is frighteningly realistic.

        • The_Fixer

Yeah, it’s very well done and if you’re not paying attention, it can seem like it’s real. My tipoff was when he called Notorious B.I.G. “Notorious Big.” That’s the perfect “clueless old person” joke.

From there, it’s easy to spot the rest of the ridiculousness. What’s just as funny are the videos of black YouTubers reacting to it. They find it hilarious, or alternately, so very wrong if they don’t immediately pick up on the joke. And that’s easy to do, being as it’s so well done and it’s so plausible.

Shimon Peres: Israeli war criminal whose victims the West ignored

Shimon Peres, who passed away Wednesday aged 93 after suffering a stroke on 13 September, epitomised the disparity between Israel’s image in the West and the reality of its bloody, colonial policies in Palestine and the wider region.

A few years ago, Peres described the Palestinians as “self-victimising.” He went on: “They victimise themselves. They are a victim of their own mistakes unnecessarily.” Such cruel condescension was characteristic of a man for whom “peace” always meant colonial pacification.

Inverted Totalitarianism And The Corporate State

Stricken with a terminal disease, the decline of traditional society is unavoidable. For decades, the political institutions that fostered a Republic based upon individual liberty and responsibility fade into fond memory. Defenders of all that made America a shining example of human freedom are attacked and ridiculed for holding onto a moral and ethical system that is based upon the dignity of every individual. Most will blame the failure of this decay on the politicians who willfully pander to the masses with the next generation of social welfare programs. While defining a politician as a scoundrel, deserving damnation, seems obvious; the underlying source of the decay that eats away the culture comes from various directions.

New research shows there’s one big change when cops wear cameras

Cameras worn on police uniforms have been lauded as a possible solution to many of the problems facing officers in the line of duty, from violence against law enforcement to the unnecessary use of force. The US Department of Justice recently announced a plan to spend $20 million on body cameras for cops in 32
    states.

The cameras are controversial, as all surveillance technology tends to be. And until recently, there’s been
little hard evidence about how effective body cameras actually are. According to new research from the University of Cambridge, which studied seven police forces in the US and the UK, the answer is that they are transformative in at least one way.

“It seems that knowing with sufficient certainty that our behavior is being observed or judged affects various social cognitive processes: We experience public self-awareness, become more prone to socially acceptable behavior, and sense a heightened need to cooperate with rules,” the researchers write.

    Afghanistan; It’s the Heroin, Stupid

“Osama bin Laden was a failed CIA asset that was used as a pretext to invade Afghanistan to restart the heroin trade, which is a trillion-dollar business. Mullah Omar was our ally against the Soviets, and a most honorable man, who shut down all the heroin plantations in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over as they considered the over 300,000 dead who died from heroin overdoses per year immoral. We turned on him and betrayed him. Osama was a guest of Mullah Omar, and he merely asked for evidence of Osama’s involvement in 9/11. Since there was none, as he was not involved, none could be furnished. Bush II ridiculed on television even the thought that he would be required to give evidence to a bow and arrow Mullah Omar”.

It’s true , we have become what we once hated . Hypocrisy ? That’s an understatement , there’s gotta be a better word. Power is an embarrassment , looks like a meth head , has zero credibility . Kerry’s credibility is shot all to hell too .One lie after another , falsely accusing the Russians of doing what we are doing , it has become routine . There appears to be no difference between the neocon Republicans and these supposed Democrats when it comes to foreign policy , none at all . Putin and the Russians can’t even keep up with the lies .

The good news is that people are catching on , the bad news is that the U.S. government doesn’t care . They’re going to do what they want to do , regardless.

Rules of Engagement for the Exceptional Nation

In order to be the world’s superpower, the “exceptional nation” in a unipolar One World Order, a climate has to be created so that every nation on earth will relinquish their nation-state sovereignty and submit willingly to a hegemonic and dictatorial One World Government.

    http://www.veteranstoday.com/2016/09/28/rules-of-engagement-for-the-exceptional-nation/

    • kreskin

The New World Order , Bush SR. proudly announced it’s arrival years ago . Why do you think they’re letting this country go to hell ? Why all the open borders , foreigners and refugees ? They’re trying to destroy and do away with the nation state , they have to water down and destroy the culture to do it . That’s what this globalization is all about , the New World Order , one world government . Guess who intends to be the head of it ? Obvious much ?

We the people have zero say , this election crap is all a charade. It’s designed to placate the masses , make them think this is a democracy.

Think I’m nuts ? You’re in for a rude awakening.

America’s “Humanitarian War” against the World

Historically, science has supported the development of the weapons industry and the war economy. “Science for Peace” indelibly requires reversing the logic whereby commissioned scientific endeavors are directed towards supporting what President Eisenhower called “The Military Industrial Complex”.

What is consequently required is a massive redirection of science and technology towards the pursuit of broad societal objectives. In turn, this requires a major shift in what is euphemistically called “US Foreign Policy”, namely America’s global military agenda.

Prison paradox: Texas jail authorities ban 15,000 books… but allow Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf’

The 140,000 inmates in Texas state prisons are reportedly denied access to some 15,000 books banned by the authorities – but it seem convicts can still easily get hold of a copy of Adolf Hitler’s racist diatribe ‘Mein Kampf’.

As the US holds its annual ‘Banned Books Week’ campaign – an event celebrating the freedom to read – attention has been drawn to the list of the books that Texas authorities have banned in state prisons. Paul Wright, executive director of the Human Rights Defense Center and editor of Prison Legal News, told the Guardian that about 15,000 books were banned by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDJC).

Wright says that when a book goes on the list, it never comes off.

You know, Trey Gowdy is a jerk, but his questions to Comey yesterday were spot-on. They’re exactly what I would have wanted to ask Comey. Deutsche Bank crisis threatens to roil global markets
      http://www.marketwatch.com/story/a-crisis-in-european-banks-threatens-to-roil-global-markets-2016-09-28

Europe’s problems with some of its largest financial institutions could spill over into the rest of the global market.

Deutsche Bank’s shares were sinking on Thursday on a report that a group of hedge funds were reducing their exposure to the giant financial institution

On Wednesday, one financial blogger, Wolf Richter, wrote that deep-seated concerns about Deutsche Bank’s ability to raise enough cash to give the market comfort that it is on a sound footing speaks to a larger problem that Europe’s embattled banking sector must combat. Richter, the editor of financial blog site Wolf Street, said “the banking crisis [in Europe] has the potential to transmogrify into a financial crisis.”

He went onto say: “All it takes is for one of the big [banks] to suddenly topple. The flow of credit would freeze up instantly. In an economic system that depends on credit, and whose lifeblood is credit, such an event is a financial crisis.”

      • Shohanna

That doesn’t sound good at all. I smell déjà vu!

they can gamble on anything they like because we pay

          • Shohanna

Yeah, that’s accurate. I just want to know what it was! I am curious like that.

          • Edwin

Maybe they gambled the lot on whether Hillary would crash to the ground on 9/11 or not. They didn’t count on the SS catching her before she hit the pavement. They lost, we pay now.

I’m in Awe at How Fast Deutsche Bank is Coming Unglued
            by Wolf Richter • July 6, 2016

            http://wolfstreet.com/2016/07/06/deutsche-bank-crisis-coco-bonds-shares-new-low-bond-buybacks/

CoCo bonds, designed to be “bailed in” so that taxpayers don’t have to foot the entire bill, are a measure of how likely investors think a bail-in is.

Cocos are perpetual: they have no maturity date, and investors may never get their money back. But the bank can redeem them, usually after five years. Annual coupon payments are contingent on the bank’s ability to keep its capital above certain thresholds. If the bank fails to make that coupon payment, investors cannot call a default; they have to sit there and get used to it. And if the bank’s capital drops below certain thresholds, CoCos get “bailed in” by getting converted into increasingly worthless shares.

In return for these risks, CoCos offer a juicy annual coupon of 6% or higher. Investors, blinded by NIRP, jumped on them at the time. For example, the 6% euro CoCo notes traded at 104 cents on the euro in early 2014 shortly after they’d been issued, and at 102 in April 2015. Investors are ruing the day they didn’t sell!

The crashing shares and CoCos have a gloomy importance. Deutsche Bank will need to raise more capital to rebuild its buffer, fund more bad-loan losses, and pay more legal settlements for wrong-doing that keeps oozing from the woodwork. To raise capital, it will need to sell more shares and CoCos. With both crashing, it’s going to be tough. It’ll dilute existing shareholders, who are going to dump these shares in anticipation, which will sink them…. And issuing 6% CoCos when their brethren trade at 75 cents on the euro, or below, is going to be very expensive or perhaps impossible.

          • Shohanna

Eeeewww I see a crash coming. Hard. Possible failure too. Which will domino across the global bank market. That is not good.

          • doubleplusliberal

            https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/DB-Exposure.jpg
            https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/international-news/europes-current-economy/deutsche-bank-the-meltdown-crisis/
Ten of the large hedge funds are withdrawing from Deutsche Bank. What must be understood here is that Deutsche Bank is the main clearing house for trades in Europe. The problem the hedge funds have is where do they move for clearing? Short-term, they can move to New York or London. With over $60 trillion derivative book at the Deutsche Bank, the government is totally incapable of even understanding how to deal with this crisis. We are looking at a major crisis in confidence.

          • Shohanna

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! Who was the stupid idiot that spread the fear?! Do they not understand how bad this is now?!

EVERYONE, and I do mean ALL nations depend on “confidence”. You fucking lose that and everyone’s money becomes WORTHLESS!!!

Holy shit. FUCK this is NOT GOOD!

          • towerofbabel

Belive me, they will be the first to bob up to the top.

          • Shohanna

WTF was Merckle thinking? What was she doing?! Sounds like her election was more important that helping solve the issue that DB found itself in. AND that there is some illegal shit going down. There is a run on the bank right now! What makes the author think this will last a week or more?

A real run on a bank and it could topple in 24 hours.

          • Shohanna

It ALL has to do with the stupid law that Merckle and her party passed. That deal with “bail in”. And the run on CoCos, that are connected to “confidence”. They dropped so much that people are losing money and DB doesn’t have enough to cover their “minimum” ass and they over extended themselves on loans and investments.

INSTEAD of separating those goddamned investments and loans. (Mortgages, etc) they gambled using everyone’s money. Instead of having it THERE. So now we have to watch all our money get used for this “bail in” instead of being able to use it.

Who ever wrote this better fucking hope it doesn’t spread because they opened their mouth. HELL someone reading our conversation could see it and cause a panic run on any bank near by. Whether they are in trouble or not. But considering the current weather (the same conditions that allowed for the 2008 crash) are STILL here and able to happen again only in a very, different and worse way.

WHY did they think that investors wouldn’t think of themselves when they designed the CoCos, that is not going to work. People aren’t stupid and they want to keep their money! Shit Shit shit

          • doubleplusliberal

Modern banking practices combined with deregulation is the disaster.

How long they could keep the gravy train rollin’.

          • Shohanna

This is a different situation all together. This has to do with not using tax payers money to up hold a bank that is a GLOBAL entity and pretty much holds EVERYONE’s money. Not just certain city-states, or nations. This is connected to every single fucking bank in the WORLD.

This will have repercussions that extend to every person who has a damned account. IF this panic gets out it could cause a goddamned run on every bank we have.

This isn’t just some “News”. Holy shit. This could turn in to Financial Armageddon. O.O

    • Veri1138

Hillary needs Obama to get it done. That way, she can say, when in office, “I can’t it repealed through Congress.” and still appear to be a “Progressive” to her voter-supporters.

That’s always been the plan. If Congress passes it under her Admin… she’ll have a hard time finding an excuse to veto it. And what little shred of “Progressive” cover she’s manufactured for herself… is blown.

      She won’t win 2020.

  • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

File this under bad news for humanity’s climate ambitions: The dams and reservoirs we use to harness ‘clean’ hydroelectric power and irrigate our crops apparently emit carbon. A lot of it. All told, man-made reservoirs release roughly a gigaton of heat-trapping greenhouse gases each year. That’s more than the entire nation of Canada.

Scientists interested in quantifying humanity’s carbon footprint have been on the trail of man-made reservoirs since the early 2000s. Most studies to date have focused on a single type of reservoir—those used for electricity production, for instance—and just one or two greenhouse gases. Now, researchers at Washington State University have synthesized prior research to examine a wide variety of reservoirs and heat-trapping molecules. Their analysis, which appears next week in Bioscience, comes to a disturbing conclusion.

All told, reservoirs used for everything from power to flood control to irrigation account for roughly 1.3 percent of our global carbon footprint, much higher than previous estimates. The main culprit, according to the study, is methane.

    • Meh, Hydro-electric has all sorts of ecological problems, and this is just the final straw. Better we go to wind, solar and tidal. And Nuclear, if someone can come up with a cheap, safe reactor that doesn’t spew out a bunch of waste, not that that’s likely to happen.

      • Veri1138

They could reprocess spent nuclear fuel. But no electric company using nuke reactors would ever make a profit unless they could somehow get the taxpayer to pay for it… Nuclear energy never has been, never will be… economically viable unless the taxpayers provide the profits which we do now, while paying for the losses.

      documentary

Travelling across North America, –“DamNation”– investigates the
growing change in national attitude from strange pride in big dams as
domineering engineering projects, to the growing truthful awareness that
dams have always been the great killers of rivers, wildlife, the
salmon, the forests, coastlines, watersheds. Life is bound to water and
health of rivers, and now, dam removal in many forms—including Monkey
Wrenching—is reclaiming that life and spreading. Where dams come down,
rivers come back, allowing the salmon to return after decades of being
concreted out. By making firsthand unexpected discoveries moving through
rivers and the landscapes altered by dams, DamNation presents a
much-needed metamorphosis in values, from conquest of the natural world
to knowing ourselves as part of nature; to respect, and be humbled.
With over two million dams in North America alone—75,000 of them over
six feet tall—there’s much work to be done. Let’s get to it.

You really want to be amazed, wrap your head around this fact: The US Government has absolutely no idea how many damns there are in America. No clue at all. Many of them were in existence prior to records, became lost in the shuffle or were built on private lands.

    • towerofbabel

Toad, every form of energy will have its drawbacks, some more than others. But we cannot distill everything down to carbon dioxide alone. The biochemistry of the earth is far too complex. I would also check the funding on that science. It seems oddly decontextualized.

    Bad news people…

Disgraced former CIA Director and current Hillary adviser, GEN Betraeus (Patraeus) has been on the circuit blaming the Bush admin for the creation of Jihadis in Syria. Everyone knows The US helped arm The Jihadis. Or, at least they should. Even the Jihadis.

There are emails that show The CIA began plotting in 2009, to use Jihadis to overthrow Assad. And much more.
So, Betreaus would have overseen the arming of terrorists by The Obama Administration as head of The CIA from 2010 to 2011.

    Let the blame games, BEGIN!

“America Is On Our Side”: Al-Nusra Commander Tells German Press US Is Arming Jihadists -in German
    http://www.focus.de/politik/videos/syrien-al-nusra-erhaelt-angeblich-waffen-von-den-usa_id_5987317.html

Highlights are from Al Nusra are:
They are directly supported by the US
They received tanks and other heavy weaponry via Libya and Turkey
They got officers and experts from the US, Israel, Turkey inside Aleppo
The commanders of IS are led by Western intelligence
They are against cease-fires and aid deliveries
“The U.S. is on our side”

Al Nusra is a terrorist designated organization by The US Government. Aiding and providing material support to terrorists is a crime.

Betraeus, as CIA Director from 2010 to 2011, would have been responsible for directing The Obama Administrations plan to arm US designated terrorist organization in Syria.

Within days of the German press reports of a senior Al Nusra commander admitting that The US leadership arms terrorists, news reports blaming Russia for the downing of MH17 using secret evidence, evidence “newly discovered” by The Ukrainian Government, eyewitness and other evidence that has shown to be fake or manufactured… has been released.

    Distraction.

Anyone get the feeling that we will be having a “New New Pearl Harbour”?Neo-cons in D.C. are getting desperate and need a diversion.

The chances of a “New New Pearl Harbour” style attack on American interests or targets in The US, based on the behavior of our Neo-cons upping the ante, just went to 90% within the next year or less. The blame will either rest (as in be pinned on) with Russia or, less likely, an Islamic terrorist group or even Syria.

Any such attacks from here on out, blamed on Russia, Syria, or Islamic terrorists; are to be considered inside jobs perpetrated by rogue neo-con elements within The US Government. Unless proven otherwise beyond a shadow of a doubt.

We might as well as just go to DEFCON 2 and start warming up the ICBMS.

I wouldn’t be surprised if an American city were nuked with a small device, most likely the primary from a “missing” W-80 nuclear warhead. They lack permissive action links designed to prevent the detonation of a nuclear warhead from unauthorized personnel. Of course, the only people who can maintain such a device and use it… are people who built it.

    • kreskin

      Gee , what a surprise.

      • Veri1138

All of the neo-cons and Democrats (joined by quite a few Republicans) piling on about Russia being the evil in the world, as their own plans are exposed?

Yeah, don’t be surprised by an attack on American targets by terrorists (insiders controlled from DC).

        • kreskin

          I wouldn’t be.

I got a bad feelin that the madmen and madwoman are going to prevail and get their way . All of this poking prodding of the Russians , Ukraine , Syria , the sanctions … they are literally under attack as it is . Worst of all neither the media nor our lap dog allies will say a word against it ! U.S. / western propaganda has taken on a life of it’s own , Putin is so concerned that he took it upon himself to warn the media of what it can lead to .

Serious stuff , this is not good .

    • 17
      • Veri1138

Any more expos’es from the likes of Al Nura or other groups linking neo-cons in Washington, D.C., to terrorism, etc…

Will provoke an incident orchestrated by our neo-cons.

Hell, they could even use Soviet weapons-grade uranium or plutonium bought up after the USSR collapsed by The US to secure the weapons pits, to fashion a device, detonate it… and then blame The Russians as either losing control of their nuclear weapons or even saying that they, The Russians, provided the weapon to terrorists.

Another scenario? A nuclear detonation in Syria blamed on The Russians supplying nuclear weapons to Syria.

People don’t understand how far our neo-cons will go and how many millions of lives they will sacrifice, including the lives of American citizens, to further their power and greed.

We are this . close to war.

  • kreskin
