Good morning. So I was listening to Democracy Now this morning and the first thing after headlines is a clip of America Ferrera. Ugh. I decided to stop watching at that moment.

    • I don’t blame you. The psychic stench coming off that person is something no one should ever have to deal with!

Yemen Reports First US Drone Strikes Under Trump

Marking the first strikes under Trump, the drone strikes may suggest that the policy of drone attacks against targets in nations in which the US is not at war is going to continue beyond the Obama Administration.

    .America’s Putin Derangement Syndrome

The mainstream U.S. media blames Russian President Putin for pretty much everything – from the Mideast mess to Europe’s disorder to the U.S. elections – but the reality is quite different, notes Daniel Lazare.

    https://consortiumnews.com/2017/01/23/americas-putin-derangement-syndrome/

    • oodaloop

Lots of highlightable stuff in that article, including this:

“The Russian president is not working to delegitimize America democracy – the U.S. is doing the job just fine on its own – and he’s not destabilizing Europe either since the forces undermining the E.U. are essentially generated by the West (traceable to the austerity medicine administered after the 2008 financial collapse and to the refugee flows created by the U.S.-led invasions of Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya and the “regime change” project in Syria, none of which were initiated by Putin).”

Cost of US Air War Against ISIS Climbs to $11 Billion

Two and a half years in and with no end in sight, the cost of the US air war against ISIS continues to rise, with the Pentagon now saying the total cost is around $11 billion, a figure which only includes the direct costs of the military operation, and not the substantial additional costs associated with the conflict.

**What’s the cost of the US Air War for ISIS?

    • kreskin

Given the Pentagon’s accounting you can multiply that number by double digits I am sure. .

By the way, I believe the YouTube poster of this video may have tacked on the BS at the end after the lecture.

    • towerofbabel

That’s just great Edgar. She’s crystal clear on the economy. Why the hell don’t our so called progressives political leaders take a basic course in economics so that they can talk to the American people just like this woman? As wrong as he is, at least Ryan can talk about his ideas in a simple and clear way.

    • thud

That’s all fine and good but when she made it clear that she did NOT understand the function of a shock absorber in a car I almost clicked out (just goofing). Her steering analogy is somewhat better but needs a bit of work. Yes, the middle class are the job creators(short version). This is intuitive and easily grasped and should have been hammered on last year. That Laffer crap is what is counterintuitive. Yes I are a mechanic and know a little something.

    • Shohanna

      Damn it all I can’t see what’s posted. 🙁

      • EdgarHF

It is a video lecture debunking supply side/neo-liberal economics.

        • Shohanna

          Ty!

Trump signs Executive Order withdrawing from the TPP negotiations. Another way he positioned himself to the left of Hillary and followed through with it. Now lets see if Congress has anything to say about it.

    • EdgarHF

I am still on the lookout for a rebranding of the same BS under another name.

      • Chunga

I would not be surprised if somebody tried this. Time will tell.

.Elizabeth Warren At Risk Of Losing Her Senate Seat In 2018, New Poll Shows

Just as Democrats were starting to push Elizabeth Warren as the party’s new Presidential hopeful in 2020, a new poll from her home state of Massachusetts suggests she may want to focus on holding her Senate seat before setting her sites on the White House.

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-01-23/elizabeth-warren-risk-losing-her-senate-seat-2018-new-poll-shows

    • notisaidthepig

      Finally! Some good news.

      • 17

Bernie’ll swoop in to save her.

    • Well, looks like she’s no longer a useful patsy, just a patsy. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving sellout.

    • kreskin

      Would serve her right.

      • Shohanna

Yup, people are waking up to the dem’s treachery and they don’t want them representing the elite class. They want a REAL fucking progressive to represent them. She deserves it too. Maybe if she fought against the Clinton’s she wouldn’t be worried about her senate seat.

    • oodaloop

Hard to believe how much potential and influence she could have had…and all of it was gone before the DNC primary reached its pre-ordained conclusion. She has no executive experience, no international experience, and her party has just recommitted itself to the 1% in Wall Street & to the thoroughly discredited Corporate Media. She has no hope for national office unless she rides someone else’s coattails.

In her last remaining months in office while the DNC continues to amputate itself from reality, she may want to focus on trying to protect whatever can be salvaged of the CFPB.

      • 17

Keep an eye on where she goes once out of office. I bet it’s a corner office in Manhatten. She went curtain shopping last summer.
