say-no-to-hillaryWhy we can’t wait, we need a new peace movement now, before Clinton has a chance to rev up the drums of war.

“Stingray” surveillance is a pressing problem in our society today. But while the cops love it and pay for it, it’s been enabled primarily by the FCC, and they need to put a halt to it.

Over at the Intercept, they’ve got a fantastic 4-part story on the corruption that it rife within the Chicago PD.

American oligarchs, and their creatures in government, have gone completely around the bend, when it comes to their imperialistic desires. They really think they can hit Assad and not have Putin’s army react.

As our ruling class, in its cold-war nostalgia pretends they can put sanctions on Russia, Russia is becoming a “Food Superpower.”

Even Ted Rall has had enough of the Clintonoids harassing people. He’s so annoyed, he couldn’t even draw a picture, but had to write an article!

  • SmotPoker

    First as it should be….

You guys have no idea how hard it is for me to remain humble despite my perfection….

    • Dosido3

Fuck perfection! It’s our flaws that give us character…or something.

      • SmotPoker

        That’s what all the defectives say, every time, it’s weird……. ; )

        • MsPythia

          Proud defective here.

  • Hope Everyone has a good Friday and a great weekend. Here’s your Song For The Day…

        Speak for yourself.
Now, if it was male that would be another ‘tail’. ; )

      • Shohanna

Is that so?! I see how it is.. **stomp** **stomp** **strikes a pose and crosses arms over boobs** **taps foot**

    • Dosido3

The screen grab looks like our Panem…just sayin’ 🙂

    • MsPythia

Yay! I once saw Wendy O blow a decent sized hole in a nightclub roof with a quarter stick of dynamite. It was an insane scene – and my friend who had booked the show was so pissed! He never got to book another there after that!

  • Shohanna

Oki I have things to do and places to be. See ya’ll laters! <3

    • 17

      Have fun, Sho 😉

    • SmotPoker

I prefer having people to do, and things to see….

    • Have a good day, ma’am!

    • Dosido3

      Guten tag!

    • MsPythia

      Good day!

    • Edwin

      Good morning, 17.

    • Dosido3

I remember reading about this nutjob earlier…I’m wondering how her story “fell apart”…

  • kreskin

True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that the same powers that created the terrorist groups of Al-Qaeda and ISIL are also the ones that are “fighting” them in Iraq and Syria.

    • MsPythia

      Seriously. It’s a fucking outrage.

  • Shohanna

So, I have been fighting a fruit fly infestation for a couple of months now, I searched high and low to find the source of said infestation, to no avail…

UNTIL.. Dun dun dun… I went to replant my Aloe Vera plant. >: | Last time I EVER buy some stupid fucking organic “plant grow” soil… O.O My old brand did NOT infest me with BUGS!! Holy cow, it KILLED my 3′ Aloe plant. She was beautiful, when I went to move her, the roots were gone. There was NOTHING there but clay and bugs!! They ate her. 🙁 I got two leaves and I HOPE I can save them to replant later. But I doubt it. They might be too far gone. I am also passing on to my dad the source b/c he has the same damned problem I had. I hope this helps anyone else who can’t find the source of a fruit fly infestation. It’s down right fucking annoying!

    • MsPythia

That sucks Sho! Sorry that happened. Maybe time to get a new Aloe, or ask a friend to give you an aloe baby.

      • Shohanna

Yeah, I gotta find one. lol I loved her she was pretty! and She was BIG. I loved that I grew her that big. To be taken out by tiny little buggers.. So sad. lol

Depressing news. They announced that Kynect (Ky medicare) is gone as of Nov 1. So I have no insurance. 🙁 I have no idea what the fuck I am going to do.

    • Edwin

      🙁 …..(Can they do that???)

Your “healthcare” in the USA is a disgrace.

      • Shohanna

Yes, the rigged election of Bevin allowed him to stop Medicare for Ky. Dismantled it and set a date. I just didn’t know the date. :*(

        • Edwin

I confess, I don’t know your (fucked up) system well. I thought medicare was a federal thing.

          • Shohanna

It’s the expanded medicare, so we had a way to do that and Bevin decided to “Opt” out for all of us. Leaving plenty of us without insurance nor a way to pay for it apparently.

          • kreskin

Millions of us do not have any healthcare insurance coverage because we cannot afford it . For us Obama care is a fucking joke .

          • Shohanna

It is, I was apart of the few it did help. But I am joining you and everyone else who can’t afford it.

          • Because of a Supreme Court decision, states were allowed to opt out of the expanded medicaid. There’s a reason why people celebrated Supreme Court Justice Scalia’s death.

      • That would be the governor and her State Legislature.

      • kreskin

        No shit , Sherlock .

    • Sorry Sho 🙁 I haven’t been keeping tabs on the event, but I remember hearing something like that.

      It’s disgraceful.

      • Shohanna

It is, I have no idea what I am going to do.. None. lol I don’t have “normal” income. 🙁 I can’t even think about getting on the federal exchange (which has 1 option left as of then end of Oct.) So yeah? LOL

        • There may be other options you should try to work with the healthcare.gov they can help you find other policies. Call them! Don’t go online.

MsPy has a point, you may have to move. Indiana has expanded medicaid.

    • 17

Perhaps Shelley P. can answer that for you. Or she’ll tell you that you don’t deserve healthcare at all.

      • Shohanna

Either way I am fucked. lol

      • Dosido3

I’ll never forget what that asshole said to Toad. Never.

        • 17

          Me neither.

          • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

            Thanks.

        • Edwin

I have it (that comment) saved to my computer. I emailed it to Amato and asked him he was cool with that on his site by one of his contributors. (Actually, it was a very long email and I lambasted him, Karoli and smelly p.) The coward never replied…. proving he’s an ASSHOLE.

        • What did she say to toad?

    • MsPythia

I’m so sorry Sho. Hate to say it, but maybe it’s time to leave the state?

      • Shohanna

        I wish I could. I can’t. *shrug*

    • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

            Aw, shooooooo cuuuuuute.

        • towerofbabel

People with no social capital often turn to misogyny.

    • I think she is specifically talking about Republican supporters here. Although I’m sure she used similar verbiage to describe Bernie supporters.

      • towerofbabel

She says she is referring to the “in its way more disconcerting” situation with the left. She is describing us.

        • Yep, my bad the screen is a bit small and I left my prescription glasses at work:/ all I have at the hotel is my cheaters 🙂

      • Dosido3

Yeah. She upgraded from bucket to basket.

        • I can’t decide which one is more insulting a basket of deplorables or a bucket of losers.

          • Dosido3

Well do you like to be stabbed in the back or stabbed in the front?

          • Wrong question. The option here is to bolster the Progressive Movement within Congress to oppose Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump or Mike Pence as the case may be.

          • Dosido3

I was weighing level of offensiveness of Hillary categorical comments

          • Ah 🙂 It’s been a long week.

I have a couple thoughts, I find the imagery interesting.. baskets and buckets. As if she wants to contain these sections or elements of the populace.

To be honest I wasn’t ever so offended by the “basket of deplorables” she pretty much targeted people who would fall into that group as racist and sexist and I as well consider them deplorable.

I find that she considers people of the lower economical scale as losers, not surprising in the least. It’s one of the reasons why she was never able to connect to Bernie Sanders supporters. She sees us as lesser beings and that has been clear from the get-go as well.

          • towerofbabel

Basket had an entirely different connotation in France in 1789.

          • Dosido3

            BINGO. we are “those people”

          • towerofbabel

We know it’s a euphemism for “bucket of shit.”

          • Dosido3

I didn’t know I could dislike her even more.

          • Edwin

She sure likes to stereotype people with less money than herself.

        • MsPythia

          She’s a garbage bin.

    • Dosido3

What I find really interesting is that she was already campaigning to Wall Street AND laying bare the democratic alliance with them.

      • I also found the “barely contained Shadow recession” an interesting statement by Blankfein.

        • Dosido3

And continued “partnership with government”. Fucking fuckers!

          • He actually referred to her speech as strategic intelligence. It only confirms what we knew all along our government is working for Wall Street.

    • Do you have a date on that particular speech. Where can the whole speech be read…. is it out?

    • The good news! The speech confirms that the Progressive Movement is growing, and becoming a true threat to the economic political system.

    • towerofbabel

“where an insurgent candidate could actually co-opt (.) Take over (.) a majority party.”

This speaks volumes too. They always saw Sanders as an illegitimate interloper. That is why they could cheat so casually in the primary. The punctuation is also interesting. You can hear Hillary pausing for emphasis on those points adding weight to the pretense that changing the party was somehow unacceptable.

    • SmotPoker

Sorry kids, that particular “leak” has been debunked already. Megyn Kelly even had to read an on air apology for reporting it, and reading it on air. It’s a fake.

The Polynesian exploration of sparse islands of the Pacific will remain humanity’s greatest migration until we head for other planets. And it clearly wasn’t just a one-way trip; evidence indicates that trade networks covering thousands of kilometers were maintained for centuries. Now, a new study of ancient Polynesian DNA has indicated that it wasn’t just trade goods that were exchanged. DNA from at least two different sources ended up spreading through the population of Polynesia before European contact.

The study also suggests that our understanding of how history produced the genetics of modern Polynesians was completely off-base.

That understanding was built by looking at the DNA of modern Polynesians and comparing it with the genetics of other peoples around the Pacific. The data indicated that modern Polynesians have a mixed ancestry, with the majority of their genomes coming from an East Asian population. An additional contribution, however, came from the Papuans that inhabit the islands north of Australia.

This contribution is consistent with the route the Polynesians appear to have taken into the Pacific, which started in Taiwan. New Guinea would have been roughly on the route between Taiwan and islands like the Bismarks and Vanuatu, where the Lapita culture developed over 3,000 years ago. The Lapitans’ descendants then spread from this core area throughout the Pacific. So if they had extensive contact with the Papuans before getting to the Polynesian core islands, they would have set out on their voyages already carrying the results of that contact in their genomes.

Still, even if Harold T. Martin III didn’t intentionally leak anything, federal officials remain highly concerned. Martin’s home computers had “minimal security protection,” leaving open the possibility, however remote, that hackers broke in and stole data that could compromise vital national security programs. As the NYT reported:

“Let’s just say he’s only a psycho hoarder and he keeps this stuff with his old copies of National Geographic and his collection of lunchboxes,” said an administration official, who also asked not to be named. “That’s still extremely troubling to anyone in national security, because people like that don’t keep track of where things are or with whom they are talking.”

In Mr. Martin’s case, the official said, the sloppy handling “is particularly worrisome—we are talking sources and methods, tactics, techniques and procedures. Those are the things we guard most closely.”
On seven occasions in the last three years, top-secret information has leaked from the NSA, raising concerns that leakers remain at large in a post-Edward Snowden agency. Martin’s former wife portrayed her ex-husband, a former Navy officer, as a loyal US patriot who probably took the material so he could work on it at home. The hoarding occurred over years. At first, material was snuck out on paper, then on CDs, and eventually on thumb drives.

A former PhD mentor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where Martin was a PhD candidate, also portrayed Martin as dedicated and thoughtful. But the mentor also said Martin seemed to believe his research into offensive computer security was under-appreciated on a campus where students and faculty had little understanding of the military.

So since it’s October a lot of stuff is coming up. Today I had to do a bank deposit for the trailer park, which was unfortunate because we’d totally forgotten that this weekend is a pared-down Harvest Holidays (I say pared-down because for years and years Harvest Holidays included a carnival, but the carnivals haven’t been making money so the people who put it together decided they wanted to bring Harvest Holidays back to its “roots” – here’s a video from the parade back when my mom was a child): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P5YQLsrmII

It meant that the street the bank is on was closed down this afternoon for the Kiddie Parade, which is mainly children marching in Halloween costumes or agriculture themed stuff (lots of children were dressed up as grape bunches, some little boys were riding toy John Deere tractors, and many wore Western wear although that part of the tradition has died off a bit), the school marching bands, Middle School cheerleaders, etc. After the bank I walked to a restaurant across the street and was stuck there until a bit after the parade ended and people dispersed. Wasn’t happy about it but tried not to be a grouch…Kiddie Parade was something I used to go do with my dad, so, I dunno, maybe that makes me a little bitter. Have errands tomorrow that must be planned around the main Harvest Holidays parade tomorrow morning. Blesh.

But enough of that, there is an event I’m hoping to go to. It’s a fundraiser for the local mariachi studio. A Dia de Los Muertos concert performing traditional songs dealing with death and loss, a sing-along of Juan Gabriel songs, plus dinner, pan de muerto, face painting, sugar skull decorating, and a community altar: http://www.themariachistudio.com/tickets/

    • Your post about the Dia de Muertos, Day of the Dead fundraiser, made me reminisce about my fond memories of our Halloween Traditions with my children.

We would take the kids to a pumpkin farm and by our pumpkins and buy pumpkin donuts and cider we would go home and I would make spiced cider to go along with our pumpkin donuts. While we carved our pumpkins and watch the Halloween tree. Yes that is Leonard Nimoy who plays Mr Moundshroud, and Ray Bradbury narrated the film.

In paid speeches, Hillary Clinton touted a panel that proposed massive Social Security cuts, and she said America must “resist” those who oppose free trade deals. She also said Wall Street executives are best positioned to craft the government’s Wall Street regulations. – David Sirota

CLINTON SAYS YOU NEED TO HAVE A PRIVATE AND PUBLIC POSITION ON POLICY

“If everybody’s watching, you know, all of the back room discussions and the deals, you know, then people get a little nervous, to say the least,” said Clinton. “So, you need both a public and a private position.”

Clinton’s speech transcripts are released, and Drumf empties his dumpster. Coincidence I’m sure.

The Trump thing was from a long time ago. It’s almost like they’re holding onto this stuff on Trump to release whenever the shit hits the fan for Clinton to negate the damage.
