Your Weekend of Weekends.

UnkaWillbur - May 26, 2017

Here' some links to nosh on, to start of your weekend. I hope everyone's weekend is great; me, myself, I'm planning on jumping out of a perfectly…

  • Your Song of the Day

    https://youtu.be/Sp0BjFl-a1Y

  • Annaleigh

Going to go to bed in a moment but later today there’s a meeting on the local subcampus of my college here in town…the college president is going to address people’s concerns about Trump and our student body (lots of Mexicans, Muslims, immigrants, LGBT, people with disabilities, and of course women). I intend to go, but jeez, I never imagined my college would have to address the student body because people are afraid the POTUS will harm them…

    • [shakes head] at the ridiculousness of people’s propaganda-driven panic.

  • SmotPoker

Da boss is gonna be gone, and he left me in charge so yous guys better fucking be good or else….

    • Keep em in line, Johnny. But remember: No bruising da merch, eh?

  • Your Headline of the Day. Maybe the Week:

    Because: Phoenix.
Police Officer On LSD Attempts To Save Anti-Masturbation Dolphin Mascot From Imaginary Fire Late last night, a Phoenix police officer broke into a local YMCA during a meeting for Christians who are striving to live a masturbation-free lifestyle. The officer’s intentions was to save the organization’s dolphin mascot from a burning fire, but it turned out there was no fire and detectives say the officer was on a “massive amounts of LSD and hallucinating”.

    • SmotPoker

Whom among us hasn’t been there….

    • Shohanna

More fake news. Did you see those headlines?! “Obama commits to ban “The pledge of Allegiance” in schools?! Are you kidding me? lol Not to mention this particular story! This looked more like Facebook then the “news”. hahaha

      • Yep. I’m committed to posting all the news that Zuck and Chuck think is “fake,” Which, if you’ve seen their list, includes a heck-of-a-lot of (actually) progressive sites, and not a single font of shit like Breibart.

        • Shohanna

Oh YEAH I noticed that. The other list she had to take down b/c she was being doxxed and harassed and received death threats. 🙁

        • 17

Did I overlook it, or was FOX mysteriously not included?

    • EdgarHF

Back in the early 70s me and a group of friends were tripping on LSD when we got stopped and questioned by police. While we were standing there showing the cops our IDs a butterfly started flying around us. That is when the hilarity kicked in:-)

    • 17

How do you suppose it is that the cops didn’t blow him away? After all, I thought being on drugs was one of those things that causes the clowns in blue costumes to “fear for their lives”.

  • Shohanna

Have a great trip Unka, come back to us all rested up! <3

  • Shohanna

If this isn’t enough to wake the most ardent denial of climate change, I am not sure what is… These people are fucking dangerous to our survival.

      Good Morning 17! *hug*

      • 17

Good mornin’, Sho 😉 *hugs back*

  • Shohanna

This might cause a stir. (Duh) hehe But it’s a great picture and it’s from NASA’s own satellites, so what you think? UFO or Distortion?

    http://www.natureworldnews.com/articles/32435/20161121/mystery-sphere-spotted-surface-sun.htm

Me personally? No idea, I have an open mind and I am not arrogant enough to say we are alone in the Universe. The problem with that? They could be waiting for us to implode… HAHA

    • SmotPoker

We are the creations of what were called the Anunnaki if one believes the ancient pre-biblical Lost Tablets of Enki from the ancient Sumerian civilization. DNA splicing could account for the “junk” DNA we have as humans…..

They needed slaves/workers because mining for gold is hard work, so the lazy bastards created us by tinkering with DNA splicing between their species, and earth hominids.

Quite the fascinating tale that you’ll notice is the foundation of the bible as the stories in the bible are cribbed from the Tablets of Enki, they just left out the aliens creating us, and replaced them with a single “god”.

      Spooky

    • 17

Considering the size of the sun, and the size of that object, it must be larger than the earth. I think more than just the UFO people would notice. I’d also think its mass would throw off some planets’ orbits due to gravitational pull.

Moral of the story? Clean your camera lenses often, kids.

  • towerofbabel

Good morning. I see my comment link was already posted. Who knew acid made people crazy?

  • SmotPoker

Observation: The Cartoon Channel during the day seems to be just one big long fucking toy commercial.

    • 17

Hmm. I never made the connection 😉

      • SmotPoker

It’s annoying, but on the plus side, I got some drones on the way…..

  • 17

I see we’ve had a few more cops ambushed. Things are moving along nicely.

    • SmotPoker

      Everything is going as planned….

Alright, with Unka out of town, there is going to be some changes around here.

First thing is for Shohanna to go hop into her Princess Leia slave outfit. I’ll get around to the rest later on…..

    • 17

Do what ya need to do. I’ll clear it.

    • Shohanna

IS that so?! I can, however I having issues standing and staying sit… Not fun. Wouldn’t want to spread Jaba’s couchies. Seriously that slimy stuff sucks balls.

      • SmotPoker

It would be for my entertainment, not Jabba’s…..lol

        • Shohanna

You have to get me from Jabba. =p

    For Neb:

International community ignores use of chemical weapons in Syria

The Russian Defense Ministry has found evidence proving that ISIS terrorists use poisonous substances in Syria. According to the official spokesman for the department, Major-General Igor Konashenkov, a rapid identification of nine samples showed the presence of chlorine and white phosphorous in weapons.

    http://www.pravdareport.com/hotspots/conflicts/21-11-2016/136216-syria_chemical_weapons-0/

    • kreskin

There is “worrying” evidence Islamic State is making its own chemical weapons, a global watchdog has warned, telling the West it should be vigilant against any attack.

A team of investigators at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said they had found evidence of the use of homemade sulphur mustard in attacks in Syria and Iraq.

“The suspicions are that (Isil) may have produced it themselves, which is extremely worrying,” Ahmet Uzumcu, the head of OPCW, said yesterday. “It proves that they have the technology, know-how and also access to the materials which might be used for the production of chemical weapons.”

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) is believed to have set up a special unit for chemical weapons research made up of Iraqi scientists who worked on weapons programmes under Saddam Hussein, as well as foreign experts.

    • kreskin

WASHINGTON — The Islamic State has used chemical weapons, including chlorine and sulfur mustard agents, at least 52 times on the battlefield in Syria and Iraq since it swept to power in 2014, according to a new independent analysis.

More than one-third of those chemical attacks have come in and around Mosul, the Islamic State stronghold in northern Iraq, according to the assessment by the IHS Conflict Monitor, a London-based intelligence collection and analysis service.

    • kreskin

The truth , what we already knew , is finally coming out .

    • Edwin

I wonder how Neb is doing.

      (not rly)

  • SmotPoker

Welp, I had one of my weird, and spooky dreams that was lucid which is kind of a hint to me that I’m seeing the future.

    Done laughing?

In my dream, I went blind in my left eye, all I could see was just white in that eye, nothing else, no shapes, no darkness, just a very bright white light. The right eye wasn’t correct either, but I could see. I imagine it was the same type of view Marty Feldman or Jack Elam had with their fucked up eye. I couldn’t focus it that well, and I was very disoriented. What I could see was devastation all around me.

As someone that lives in Michigan, the manufacturing hub of the US, it’s been long known that we would be a target for a Nuke strike. As I recall, survivors from Japan that were blinded also reported being blinded by white light rather than darkness.

Fuck folks. We’re going to get nuked!

    • 17

Are you sure you weren’t just sitting in an Optometrist’s chair?

      • SmotPoker

        Positive.

        • Shohanna

Wouldn’t other ESP feel it, or at least have some hint of “OH GOD?” I am calm as a kitten here. Mostly because it’s been building for a damn long time now and I have probably gotten use to the “IMPENDING” possibilities. From Global Climate Change, to terrorist attacks, and now possible War on our soil. So much “panic” sometimes you just lose that impending doom feeling.

It’s either that, or my own feeling of dying is blocking out everything else. :/

          • SpiffyTheValiant

            <3 sho

          • EdgarHF

            The lost Spiffy!

          • Shohanna

Hey Spiffy!! OMG where you been?!

    • Ann Watson

With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year coming, I think it’s more likely we’re going to get blind drunk. ; )

    • Dosido3

well, I do think our rock solid institutions are crumbling around us – law enforcement, government, banking, basic fairness and honesty are gone. It’s a time of great uncertainty. I think the status quo is taking a major nuclear hit. Maybe your dream is metaphorical? that would be devastating enough, smot!

      • towerofbabel

I still believe that most Americans are good people, generally. But they need to wake up out of their media stupor. That may not be possible.

The “Hamilton” controversy is a reminder that we don’t have to respect politicians who don’t respect us

Whether it’s in a theater, in the White House press briefing room, or on the streets, civility is overrated. The time for playing nice is over.

    http://qz.com/842446/mike-pence-booed-at-hamilton-donald-trumps-reaction-showed-us-that-americans-need-to-disrespect-more-public-officials/

    • Dosido3

I’m sorry but the Hamilton cast supported someone who is every bit as fascist as Trump/Pence. They are funded by NBC and held a big &&& fundraiser for Hillary and completely blew off Bernie. Yes, I’m OK with them making a statement or whatever. Free speech by people owned by corporate entertainment. yawn.

      • 17

I wouldn’t care if it was Jeebus Kriste himself. The fact that someone stood up and basically said “Fuck You” to power gets my applause.

        • Dosido3

ok, I hear ya. I’m glad Pence got some public humiliation for sure. But I’m not ready to lionize the Hamilton cast.

          • 17

No. Me either. Not at all. They didn’t do anything that you or I wouldn’t have done.

  • Dosido3

DAPL. I stand with standing rock.

Hi all. I called Sen. Boxer’s local office to register my shock at the treatment of the water protector. Tellingly, the staffer had no statement to offer me although he told me she was against the pipeline. I said that’s fine, but we need a spotlight on the human rights abuses going on there. He also told me that local government is “on the other side” of the issue. I said, well, regardless – shooting water at protestors in the cover of darkness in 27 degree weather is not the way to resolve the issue. He replied along the lines that action will be taken in the near future. I said, something has to happen now! These people are in danger and they are putting their lives on the line. The silence from our elected officials is deafening.

Feds Making Thousands Of Augmented Reality Surveillance Flights Across US

Each weekday, dozens of U.S. government aircraft take to the skies and slowly circle over American cities. Piloted by agents of the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the planes are fitted with
high-resolution video cameras, often working with “augmented reality” software that can superimpose onto the video images everything from street and business names to the owners of individual homes. At least a few planes have carried devices that can track the cell phones of people below. Most of the aircraft are small, flying a mile or so above ground, and many use exhaust mufflers to mute their engines — making them hard to detect by the people they’re spying on.

I have been suspicious of these grand infrastructure schemes coming from both corporate parties. I’ll bet Trump’s is going to be worse than Hillary’s would have been and that’s saying something. We will all be enslaved like orcs before it is all over:

Trump Infrastructure Plan a ‘Trap’ Democrats Should Reject, Experts Warn

  • Shohanna

Now, this is definitely worth some investigating. It’s not “bunk”. There is possible truth to the IMPOSSIBLE engine that violates all sorts of known physics laws and no one knows why?! I say it’s dark matter pushing the ah engine and if they use it, it could potentially be a bad thing. LOL But I am not a physicist, though I SO wanted to be. I love physics. 😀

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/11/nasa-impossible-emdrive-physics-peer-review-space-science/

    • 17

I saw an article about this earlier today, but didn’t click on it. Thanks for posting this. Believe it or not, I can understand how this works, why it works, and I can even disagree that it violates Newton’s third law.

Because of some things I saw in the service that I’d never have believed could work, I’m surprised this wasn’t discovered a long time ago.

      • towerofbabel

What did you see in the service….daddy?

        • 17

Not nefarious shit. Just things dealing in elecrtonics. One weird trick was that electrons running through a conductor will cause it to heat. That’s nothing new, but if you run other electrons through the same conductor at a different frequency at the same time, you can get the second set to actually carry away the heat from the first set.

Another example was making a conductor act larger or smaller depending on the frequency running through it.

Daddy? There are so many amendments to the Constitution, but my favorite is the FIF. 😉

      • Shohanna

I think there is a following of physics in this engine. They just don’t know where the response is yet. lol

    • Edwin

I like the idea of physics, but not all that math.

      • Shohanna

Physics was the easiest ever math, it follows logic, it makes sense. It SINGS to me. 🙂

        • Edwin

I’m better in the arts. Those sing to me.

While I think math is pretty darn kewl, it just doesn’t sing to me.

        • SmotPoker

Agreed. If you have the correct formulas it’s a piece of cake. None of that do I flip flop the fractions, then multiply the integers or……?

It’s weird, I hated math in HS, just fucking hated it. My mind is more creative allowing room for interpretation, which is just short of fatal with math which is rigid with only one right answer as opposed to writing a story where their can be many different correct answers.

Weirder still, I go out, and get a degree in electronic engineering (math intensive) then went into the cutting edge high tech field out in Silicon Valley….

I’ve made some really weird life choices I guess…..

    • notisaidthepig

      The bumblebee flies anyway?

    • MeanValueTheorem

      Wait, Karoli thinks you’re Nevin?

      • Edwin

No. I think Nevin saw Karolie’s tweet and replied. (I don’t use twitter. Not sure of the intricacies of how it works.)

Any road. I got her attention. She reads my stuff.

        • kreskin

          I’ve seen it before , it’s love , unmistakable .

          • Edwin

Like when Luanne Rie__o and I used to jam our pencils into each others’ legs and bust off the lead tips? My grade 5 honey.

      • cathyx

She replied to Nevin’s reply of karoli’s stupid tweet and mentioned Edwin in it because she knows Edwin hates her, and Nevin’s tweet was also negative toward her.

        • Edwin

          I don’t hate her.

Why do people keep saying I hate other people? I think she’s a douchebag, I don’t hate her.

          • kreskin

            Now THAT is funny .

          • Edwin

If she came to my house I would be a very kind and gracious host and then explain to her how wrong she is in the nicest way.

          • notisaidthepig

That reminds me of To Kill a Mockingbird. Remember when Scout brings one of the Cunningham kids to lunch at the house. She is horrified that he puts syrup or something on his food. Calpurnia hauls her to the kitchen and says that when you are a host and have a guest you respect them and NEVER embarrass them. Words to live by.

          • Edwin

Yup. That’s me. (sugar and spice) Wait til they leave.

          • SmotPoker

Then I’d throw her ass out on street after she’d been educated….

      • EdgarHF

More of her crack journalistic skills at work.

        • MeanValueTheorem

          Total sleuth that that Karoli.

          • Edwin

She has to know who to dox next.

          • Edwin

I bet she doxes the wrong people with great regularity.

    • EdgarHF

mmmm….sounds like someone is in Karoli’s head.

      • SmotPoker

Yep, he’s living there, and not paying a thin dime in rent….lucky bastard….

    • Edwin

OK, so someone who tweets, can you tell me who she is addressing?

Is she talking to this person:
      Cat West
      ‏@catawu
      5h5 hours ago

@Karoli Looks like someone you blocked who created a new account to harass you. I’ve seen a few of those in your TL today.

      • Annaleigh

Cat West is addressing Karoli in that tweet.

        • Edwin

Who is Karoli saying this to: “Oh, it must be one of my haters. Howdy Edwin.”

          I don’t tweet.

          • Annaleigh

She’s saying it both to Nevin and to her followers, since it’s a retweet with additional commentary. Why she thinks Nevin is you beats me!

          • Edwin

OK, so out of the blue she just wanted to tell people about me, nothing provoked that? (It looked to me like maybe someone was bugging her and she assumed it was me.)

Not that it really matters. I was just confused WHY she said that. Anyway, she’s a douchebag, so… she can go fuck herself.

Thx, Annaleigh. (PS it’s kind of funny ^_^)

    • SmotPoker

I left her a reply telling her to grow up, that she sounds like a 13 yr old girl. That having a differing opinion doesn’t make one a hater…..

I fucking hate that lame as term. It’s used by folks that have no legitimate argument so they just fall back on the “you’re just a hater” bullshit. Fucking children.

      • EdgarHF

        You’re just a hater:-)

        • SmotPoker

Christ! I’ve hated that term since it first hit the market. Ugh. It’s just so stupid, a deflection rather than an attempt to make any valid counter point.

I never let is slide. Fuck that.

Great Flying Monkey King In The Sky! I’ve become an 80 year old man shaking my fist at the sky, and yelling at kids to get off my lawn. Nah, who am I trying to kid, I’ve always been that way.

          • EdgarHF

Here is another classic that blows my stack:

I’m sorry you feel that way!

You’re just trying to rile me up now fucker…..rofl

  • panem et circenses

I’ve seen multiple reports that Turkey is launching rockets into US allied Kurdish resistance held territory west of Manbij, yet I’ve seen no mention of the attacks in western media. The SDF / YPG have been the most effective force in fighting ISIS and other jihadist groups in northern Syria, while Turkey have reportedly been arming them.

    • Annaleigh

Speaking of that, you’ve just reminded me to check on PissPigGranddad. Thankfully he’s alive but he makes no mention of Turkey launching rockets.

      • panem et circenses

Kurdish news sources mention it but most of what I’m hearing is from residents and supporters. Some people have talked about the attacks under the hashtag #Manbij.

          Thanks, I’ll take a look.

Panic in Washington: Hitler’s dream in the making

Outgoing US President Barack Obama has recently visited Berlin to pick a new leader of the liberal West. In fact, Obama is bringing together an anti-American bloc in Europe. It is a curiosity or panic? Can Angela
Merkel become such a leader, and whom will she rely on? Is she concerned that Donald Trump may have her as the first course for a geopolitical dinner?

On Friday, Obama had meetings with five European heavyweights to find himself a replacement as the leader of the Western world. Obama is convinced that Trump will not be able to become one.

Remember Karloi’s list of Clinton supporters ? She was lying again , making shit up . .

Kanye West was hospitalized on Monday after abruptly canceling the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour, a source confirmed to Variety.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call of a “disturbance” at about 1:20 p.m. PST on Monday. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a “medical emergency,” and West was transferred to the hospital by paramedics.

The hospitalization comes after a tumultuous week for the rapper. Last Thursday, West made headlines by announcing at a San Jose concert that if he did vote in the election, he would have voted for President-elect Donald Trump. The statement was met largely with boos from the crowd.

Popular Anarchy, Philosophical Anarchism: Changing the Movement Debate

Anarchism in and of itself is a bit of a conundrum. The term means many different things depending on who one talks to. In popular circles anarchism is equated with violence, chaos and a total disregard of any form of cultural or social order. In philosophical circles, however, anarchism is something very different. Anarchism is the idea that just because systems of power and domination exist, they are not necessarily legitimate. In this regard, anarchism questions authority and notes that when systems of power are illegitimate they should be dismantled. What fills the space left by authoritarian power is social power. Liberation is the end goal of philosophical anarchism: A peaceful, vibrant, tolerant society.

Swear or Affirm, Protect and Defend

The presidential oath of office, per Article II, Section One, Clause 8:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the
Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my
ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United
    States.”

This is the oath to be sworn by a man who has repeatedly criticized citizens and the press as they exercise their creator-endowed right of free speech, protected by the First Amendment.

This is the oath to be sworn by a man who has repeatedly violated laws including infringement of civil rights and fraud.

This is the same oath a man one heartbeat away must be prepared to swear — a man who has violated the civil rights of Indiana citizens by denying them equal rights based on their gender and sexual identity, denying effective approaches to disease control and endangering lives, denying their right to privacy in seeking medical care.

Researchers Say ‘Minority Report’ Technology to Become Reality by 2020

According to a new report by Juniper Research, the largely “point and click” style computer and Internet interactions with which humans have become so familiar are going to enter a paradigm shift in the coming
years. According to a new study, by the beginning of the next decade, humans will largely interface with
online (and offline) electronics via physical actions and gestures reminiscent of the 2002 science fiction film, Minority Report.

The precognitive policing of Minority Report could become reality, too. The technology of 2020 probably won’t include ‘PreCogs’ floating in water and generating dream-visions of the next murder, but there are some analysts who think nation-states will wield complex predictive crime programs in the near future. And some manifestations of this technology exist now. But will these nascent technologies mature to be full-blown PreCrime divisions? It’s hard to know.

      60 Minutes…..

I just had a talk with my dad the other day, and that program came up in perhaps the most frustrating way possible, as if I was in some fucked up Abbot, and Costello sketch.

He happened to be looking through his DVR recordings when I told him he might want to check the NCIS LA because the guide has been wrong all fucking season, and it’s been 60 Minutes that gets recorded. He wanted to argue with me that the show was 60 minutes long…..

I fucking know that dad, but I’m talking about the actual news magazine 60 Minutes, that has been what the station has been putting on instead of NCIS LA…..

I live such an interesting life.

I watched that several weeks ago. His comment “I cannot and do not consider the social consequences of what i invest in” says it all. In my opinion, this sociopathic mentality–that he is so proud of–is the basis of the neoliberal religion. Where the social activists like Jesus might say “consider the least among us” neoliberals worship money as the fundamental mediator among humans. Money abstracts human relations and the consequences of our actions. Stripped of all other social commitments human behavior becomes anti-social. We become humans stripped of empathy. In other words inhumane. These people hate the values of socialism more than anything else. I always think of the snarling Ayn Rand when I want to remind myself what lies behind neoliberalism as an ideology.

Computer scientists say they have strong evidence election was rigged against Clinton in three key states

“A group of renowned computer scientists and lawyers have urged Hillary Clinton to challenge the election results in three key states after they gathered “evidence” to suggest the election results were potentially manipulated.

The group of activists, including voting rights lawyer John Bonifaz and J Alex Halderman, director of the University of Michigan’s center for computer security and society, believe their evidence shows that results in these three battleground states – which lost Ms Clinton the election on 8 November – might have been hacked.

As reported by New York Magazine, the group is not speaking on the record but is privately lobbying Clinton’s team to challenge the election results.

In Wisconsin, Ms Clinton received 7 per cent fewer votes in counties that depended on electronic-voting machines compared to countries that used optical scanners and paper ballots, and consequently Ms Clinton may have lost up to 30,000 votes. She lost Wisconsin by 27,000 votes.

The group has already held a call with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and campaign general counsel Marc Elias to argue that while they have not found conclusive evidence of a hack, the pattern in their results merits an independent review.

Ms Clinton has made no indication she would challenge the results and the White House is intent on a smooth transition.

The deadline to file for a vote recount is between Friday and next Wednesday for the three states.

President Obama suggests Hillary Clinton didn’t work as hard on campaign trail as he did
The vote in Michigan has still not been called as the results on 8 November were very close – and the 16 electoral votes in the state have not been proportioned to either Mr Trump or Ms Clinton.

Mr Trump has 290 electoral college votes, compared to Ms Clinton’s 232 votes. Michigan is likely to be given to the Republican side.

Clinton may have got the second-most amounf of votes ever despite losing
Ms Clinton would need to win Michigan and overturn the results in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to win the electoral college.

Another factor is so-called “faithless electors” who will not vote for the candidate which won in the popular vote in their state. So far, six electoral college voters said they would not vote for Mr Trump.

Meanwhile more than 4.5 million people have signed a petition for more electoral college delegates to defy the instructions given to them in their state.

There have only been 157 faithless electors throughout history but they have never overturned an election.

Mr Trump said on Tuesday during a meeting with the New York Times that he was “never a fan” of the electoral college and he would have preferred to win in the popular vote.

Heba Abedin, the sister of Ms Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin, called on Facebook for people to phone the justice department and request an audit of the vote.

“They are starting to recognise there really is something off about the election results as they come in,” she wrote.

Ms Clinton said during the third presidential debate that Mr Trump’s refusal to definitely accept the election result if he lost was “horrifying”.

Bots to Bros –> “learn the rules of the process, ya losers”

    • Ann Watson

Rigged, jigged or just plain obscure, this is what people voted for.
The time to address vote fixing is not when the results are in but when there is everything to lose or gain by the means employed, otherwise it is all just sour grapes, whichever side wins, or at least that is the impression given.

      • panem et circenses

I think it’s the perfect time, in this case. Civil war between neoliberals and the far right may be the best possible outcome. Let them take each other out so we can move closer to dumping this shitshow. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s any chance of this happening. It’s just dreams and provocative headlines.

        • Ann Watson

I think we are headed into uncharted territory, what has gone before is crumbling, what will replace it is yet to be decided, we stand on the brink of a massive advance in the evolutionary history of mankind or yet another setback that leaves us lagging behind in humanity’s true potential.

        • notisaidthepig

We need to start taking a look at our voting systems and update them in the coming year so that they are secure and in place for the 2018 elections. Chances of that actually happening? Slim to none, methinks.

This is starting to get scary Stephen, we need to report this to the authorities” The Senator scowled, then laughed at the suggestion, “And have them digging into what they are alluding to or why they are coming after me? I don’t think that would be wise at all Mark. No, not wise at all, best to ignore it, we get these kinds of letters all the time. It’s probably just some loser living in a trailer that blames everyone else for his lot in life. I ever tell you the amount of hate mail I received when I was Governor of Ohio? It makes this stuff seem like love letters.”

Mark knew when he was beaten. Having known Stephen Grey since the 3rd grade, they’ve been friends forever, and could read each other like an old married couple. There would be no budging Stephen on this matter. All he could do was to hope for the best, and that his life long friend was right, and it was just another kook looking to frighten or extort someone in a position of power. He could accept it, but he didn’t have to like it. There was something about these threats that seemed legitimate, that this person or group was to be taken seriously. He started to call a private detective he’s used in the past, but decided to put it off until tomorrow. It had been a long day, and tomorrow would be even longer as the Senator was due to fly back home to give his platform speech concerning his objections to gay marriage, abortion, law, and order, the usual RW platform with a bit of good old fashioned racism thrown in just for flavor. Mark was right that tomorrow would be a long day, but for entirely different reasons than he had imagined.

Senator Grey was indeed troubled by these letters more than he dare let on, even to his life long friend. Mark may know just about all of his friends secrets, but he didn’t know them all. Mark had no idea that Stephen had been getting payola from more than a dozen lobbyists. The bane of America, thought Stephen, fucking wolves demanding ever more meat in the form of American taxpayer dollars to support their wingnut welfare projects. They were more often than not huge boondoggles. Infrastructure deals that built infrastructure for last century industries which no longer existed. They were often described as “Roads to nowhere” because after the money was spent building roads, beefing up electrical grids, and internet access, there was no industry developed to support it. No reason for people to drive on the new roads which were often privatized even after being paid for by taxpayers. No resons for people to move to the area for jobs that didn’t exist. Once the construction was complete, that money moved on to a new town to spent until the job was complete there, only for the process to repeat endlessly. Schemes to pay farmers in Red States to not grow food, kickbacks from contractors that received government contracts thanks to the intervention of Senator Grey. Yes, though Stephen Grey, there are a great many secrets that must be kept that way, even from Mark. He’d worry about it tomorrow, he was tired, but also excited as this was his night away from the family. They thought Tuesdays were the nights that he stayed to hammer bills with his fellow Senators. He was hammering something alright, her name was Caryn, and he was looking forward to hammering away at Caryn at the Hotel Deverox within the hour.

Caryn was already waiting in the room, the champagne was on ice, and Caryn looked hot as ever. Stephen was sticken with the beautiful young woman young enough to be his daughter, “I am one lucky bastard” said Stephen as he saw Caryn stretched out on the bed, a glass of champagne in her hand. Caryn smiled her must seductive smile, gave him a come hither look, and a curl of her finger. He went to her, gave her a quick kiss, and started to disrobe. Naked, he grabbed a champagne flute for himself, filled Caryn’s flute, and poured some into his own, and crawled into bed. He took a drink of the champagne he had poured, and his faced turned red, then purple, back to red, then ashen. Caryn pinned a pre-written note explaining why the Senator was targeted, gathered her things, grabbed a wig out of her overnight bag, dressed herself in a different outfit than what she arrived in, wiped down every surface in the room, put on some big Jackie O sunglasses, and quietly left the room.

Bill Wingate was at the loft when Wendy arrived shortly after 9 pm. Bill looked at her with a quizzical look, and reading his look, nodded at him, and simply said “it’s done.” Wendy went to the bathroom, locked the door behind her, took off her clothes, ran the shower as hot as she could stand it, and entered the shower. She couldn’t stand having the presence of that strutting peacock on her body. She scrubbed herself down hard enough to leave her skin red, and it still wasn’t enough. She shuddered at the memory of him entering her, and her pretending to enjoy fucking the old goat. “Well, that’s the end of that business” she said to herself quietly. It was time to get the group together to plan the next target, and the best way to gain the access needed for the job. If only these evil fuckers would listen instead of looking to line their own pockets as they ignore the plight of others. She didn’t like killing as a rule, but when it came to these heartless, greedy, scumbags, it didn’t make her feel bad at all.

“We made the news.” Bill’s voice rang out from the other room. “We’ll get the group together. This will be the 4th Senator that we’ve taken out. They are taking us seriously now.”

    From https://consortiumnews.com/2016/11/21/trumps-tulsi-gabbard-factor/

So, the surprise election results on Nov. 8 may have represented a “trading places” moment for the neocons and
liberal hawks who were eagerly counting the days before the “weak” President Barack Obama would turn over the Commander-in-Chief job to former Secretary of State Clinton who had made clear that she shared their hawkish agenda of escalating the war in Syria with a “no-fly/safe zone,” and ratcheting up the New Cold War with Russia.

    https://youtu.be/krP7rqYKHxs

    • Dosido3

ahhh, thanks. I watched the original CBS clip without Jimmy’s take and it was painful. The attitude of all three of those idiots is so hostile to Bernie. Rose can’t even uncross his arms to talk to Bernie. They’re all talking tough like they are deposing Sanders on what he is supposed to be saying about the Clinton campaign. It’s like “wait! what are you saying? The Clinton campaign says this! Get on board!”

And jimmy’s right. They’re stupid on purpose.

      • oodaloop

He’s right. I just wish he’d stop calling these corporate PR shills journalists.

        • Dosido3

I know what you mean. I’m worried about younger people who have been fed this crap from the beginning of their lives. How will they know what journalism is supposed to look like? To add to that, yesterday, I heard that Stanford did a study on how many kids were able to discern that an article was fake. 80% of kids couldn’t tell that it was fake and thought the article (about daisies deformed by nuclear waste or something) was true. O.o

          http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/11/23/503129818/study-finds-students-have-dismaying-inability-to-tell-fake-news-from-real

          • oodaloop

Heard that one too, and was not surprised by it. Nobody teaches these kids critical thinking skills, and students are rewarded for accepting the authoritarian B.S.

Thankfully, as Jimmy points out in the clip, some of these kids are smart enough to have dumped the mass media news sources and have moved to alternative media. As Tim Coffee said to the mainstream media in the clip Edwin posted previously, “Independent media’s got it from here. You’re dismissed.”

      • Edwin

I stuck Jimmy’s video on O’Donnell’s facebook page (3x) for her fans to see.

Apple’s new MacBook Pro is proof Tim Cook doesn’t care about software professionals

If you are a design professional, it’s a pretty safe bet that you use some flavor of Mac. The industry’s preference for Apple products has been axiomatic for thirty years. And if you are a software professional
not in thrall with the fading Windows ecosystem, then for the last decade, you have likely done the same. This made sense from a logistics point of view: The MacBook Pro marries a slick operating system atop a full-fledged Unix core, superb connectivity, and best of all, ferocious processing power.

At least, it did until last month, when Apple introduced its new version of the Pro, all but admitting that they were no longer interested in building computers for professional designers and engineers. It is no
coincidence that the day the new Pro was announced, Linux laptop company System76 saw a huge jump in traffic, much of it anecdotally coming from disgruntled developers seeking satisfaction elsewhere. Simply put: The new MacBook Pro is anything but.

    http://qz.com/844215/apples-appl-new-macbook-pro-is-proof-tim-cook-doesnt-care-about-software-professionals/

    • LOL, that article is a laugh-riot. Some of the purest of IT-fantisizing I’ve seen in months, if not years. The laughs start right away, but the belly laughs hold off until “the fading Windows ecosystem,”

      • 17

Yeah, I had to wonder how it is that I didn’t notice the “fade”. I’ve never used a MAC, but it’s been my understanding that Pros use them. Where they got the Idea that “Surface Studio” suddenly became an acceptable replacement, I don’t know. And a sudden rush to Linux? I don’t think so.

        • SmotPoker

What you going to do when Ubuntu comes for you brother??!!?

          • 17

I’ve used Linux. Tried several “flavors”. Use Mint 13 now, but not often. Never liked Ubuntu.

          • SmotPoker

I’ve tinkered with it here, and there. I’m just an old fuck though. On PC I learned, and it is on a PC I will send my last missive no doubt….

          • I run everything through Linux (Ubuntu, specifically). Or OpenBSD when I need it truly secure. All my Windows sessions are run in a Virtual Machine, running on my Ubuntu instance.

Running any Windows above 7, outside of a virtual machine, is crazy-town. Running Windows 10, at all, is also crazy town as that OS spies on you more than Apple products. Apple products are no better, you just pay more to get the “status” cognitive-bias.

            * My opinion after 30 years in commercial development, across a dozen different platforms/Operating Systems.

          • SmotPoker

I’m running a 10 machine which is kind of got me itching to go ahead and just do a full Ubuntu or Mint install, but I truly hate learning new OS shit.

Plus I’m incredibly lazy. I don’t want to lose some stuff on the PC, but I don’t want to take the time to do a full backup. It would be great if I could install Ubuntu or Mint but have it keep shit like my pictures, and some documents.

The process for making a dual boot with the 10 system is convoluted too, it wouldn’t just let me set up a dual boot at the start up screen in DOS you got to do a bunch of shit which turned me off to it. It wasn’t always that way as I’m sure you are aware. Setting up a dual boot was as easy as falling out of bed.

Not again! US Navy ‘stealth’ destroyer towed into port after another breakdown

Built at a cost of more than $4 billion, the high-tech USS Zumwalt only made it to the Panama Canal while on its first journey to its home port of San Diego. A malfunction left the warship in need of tugboats so that it could reach the closest port, where it remains under maintenance.

    https://www.rt.com/usa/367866-uss-zumwalt-stealth-break-down/

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCbwvxKm9i4

    • Edwin

Not to worry. The tax-payers have lots of money.

    • kreskin

Is that the one the geniuses at the Pentagon can’t afford to arm ? $800,000 a round ? Yep .

” The USS Zumwalt, America’s newest stealth destroyer packs some impressive firepower but there’s just one problem: the US Navy can’t afford the ammunition for the vessel’s 155-millimeter Advanced Gun Systems. These weapons are designed to fire a GPS-guided shell, dubbed the Long Range Land Attack Projectile, up to 60 miles where it strikes with unprecedented accuracy. What’s more, the Zumwalt can lob up to ten of these shells every minute. But while the LRLAPs are quite lethal, they’re also ludicrously expensive at $800,000 a pop.

The problem lies with the Navy’s shrinking demand for Zumwalt-class ships. In the 1990s when the Zumwalts were being designed, the Navy envisioned an armada of them — 32 ships in total. However, in the 26 years since, that number has been whittled down to just three. With that decline in ship orders came a similar drop in the need for ammo. And as the number of rounds the Navy was willing to buy decreased, the price per round increased dramatically. This is a wild departure from the sub-$50,000 price Lockheed originally claimed and an utterly astronomical cost compared to the unguided rounds fired by the Mk. 45 5-inch gun, which is standard on existing destroyers. “

      • SmotPoker

Not to mention that we already have ships that are incredibly stealthy, we call them “submarines”…..

At least my buddy Edwin will be around today. Korean Thanksgiving is at a different time of the year….

Christ I’ll never forget the nightmare of my time in Korea during their Thanksgiving. Everyone and their dog is on the road heading back to their villages from Seoul fucking up traffic for hours on end.

A few of us engineers were in Korea to do some installs, and we carpooled from Seoul to where the fab was about 2 hrs south on a normal day. Korean Thanksgiving turns that miserable 2 hr ride into a journey into hell that can last 4-6 hrs depending on your luck, as I’m sure Edwin is well aware. Best to just make sure you have plenty of booze, and ride it out in the hotel room, or the area of Itawon(?) that has American style bars.

On one of my trips to Korea I took one group of us (seems we always had an install or two going on there), and a native Korean engineer named Han (Great fucking guy, just a great guy) took the other group. Han being a Korean couldn’t do what I did driving to the fab, and back that day. I took the bus lane. As a round eye I said fuck it, I figured I could get away with it if I was pulled over by claiming ignorance as I thought it was a car pool lane like back in the states. Han freaks out, calls over to our car telling us we can’t be in that lane, and we’re laughing our asses off screaming down the bus lane while Han, and his group were stuck in the traffic.

That night we beat them back to the hotel in Seoul by about an hour and half, and were well on our way to being drunk by the time the other arrived. The next day, everyone wanted to ride with me, nobody wanted to ride with poor Han….

      • Edwin

I was on a city bus once and the traffic was so heavy the bus driver crossed over into the (empty) lanes for oncoming traffic and gunned it. We sailed past everyone else. It was fecking hilarious. The driver was crazy, but everyone was happy to be flying along.

        • SmotPoker

I did something similar a few around the turn of the century. I was bringing my kid back home to Michigan so my wife, and I could pack up our shit out west, then head to Michigan to get our divorce where we both had family support.

As I’m crossing into Michigan from Indiana the traffic is all fucked up, they were doing construction on both sides of the freeway, the other side was finished but closed off, and our side was just a mess. I crossed the median in my pickup truck, my kid beside me giggling because she knew it was wrong. We drove around, and past the bullshit, and crossed back over.

She still brings that up every now and again, and laughs. I miss her at that age before she was a teen. She was still very much a daddies girl. Still is, but not as hard. Still can’t stand her fucking mom though. I don’t think her mom understands how much she hurt her when after she lost custody, she took it out on our daughter, and ignored her for a year.

I’ve never understood that either. I’m familiar enough with dead beat dads, but the concept of a dead beat mom had never entered my mind. I think that may have been how much love was shown, and fiercely protective my own mother was towards her own kids. I never asked my ex-wife for a dime in child support either, I just wanted her to have a relationship with her child, but her hatred of me took that away from her.

    • EdgarHF

But then there is establishment approved fake news.

  • SmotPoker

Well fuck, another holiday is upon us that I’d just as soon avoid. Already in a foul mood, and I haven’t been up 10 minutes.

Remembering how much hard work my mother would put in for these dinners is making want to cry right now. She was a damn fine cook, and there ain’t no spread like a southern Thanksgiving spread. I’d eat about half a dozen deviled eggs before they hit the table. Of course we couldn’t just be content to have a nice bird, we would also have a nice ham with the pineapple, and cloves on it with a touch of Vernors for taste. The green bean salad could fuck right off, and it can still fuck right off today, yuck, I don’t care who makes it…..

It’s the small things we tend to remember when we remember our loved ones. Those little touches, forgotten smells, little sayings, and moments in time long gone but forever stored inside your memories. My kid brother is hosting his first Thanksgiving with his girlfriend today. If I had to leave right this instant, I wouldn’t be going. Hopefully by the time the Lions game ends today (with a victory please) I’ll have had this mood pass over me, and at least be ready to show up to make an appearance. I’m the oldest so they have always looked up to my miserable ass for some reason or the other, I gotta go.

My kid isn’t looking forward to it either, as she is still pissed at her paralyzed uncle for the way he blew off our mother on the night before she passed away she called for him, and we sent three different people to go get him, but he was too fucking high, and refused to come. He never saw her alive again. If I’m honest I too hold that against him, and probably will for the rest of my life. She pampered his ass all his life. He never had to grow up or accept responsibility for his fuck ups because momma would take care of it, and he can’t be bothered to go see her before she dies? No my man, fuck you. I get it, I totally get why my kid doesn’t want shit to do with the loser.

Yep, I can completely understand why suicides spike during the holiday season. The shit is downright fucking depressing. The younger version of me knew these stats, but didn’t get the connection until I suffered my own loss. As a young person I always though it odd suicides would spike during the holidays. I think some part of me believed that those suffering from this kind of depression lost their loved ones during the season. I now understand that doesn’t have to be the case, it’s the memories of holidays past with those loved ones that brings about the depression.

Good news though, I’m not at that point. I’ve still got a lot of people on my list that need correction, and I’m no quitter….

    Have a good Thanksgiving everyone.

    • notisaidthepig

Fake News We’d Love To Hear

President Elect Trump was found dead in Trump Tower after suffering a broken neck while attempting to suck his own dick. Sources say it wasn’t a pretty scene they stumbled upon when they went into Donald’s master bedroom to find the business tycoon cum POTUS elect dead on his bed with his feet over his head, and his mouth a mere inch away from the tip of his still erect penis. So close, yet so far away. A true tragedy.

This sets the stage for VPOTUS Mike Pence to take over as POTUS, but after being found with a dead hooker, and a live boy in a skeevy motel room last week, Mr. Pence has his own troubles that he needs to deal with before he could be sworn in as POTUS. Congress will reconvene for a special session to determine the leadership of America until such a time as this mess is sorted out.
