.No Right to Free Water — Except for Nestle

Former Nestle CEO Peter Brabeck is famous for denying that access to drinking water is a human right. But based on the company’s actions, its management seems to believe that Nestle Corporation has a human right to free water.

    • Dosido3

17, 17, 17… Have you not learned yet that corporations are the only humans that matter?

      • EdgarHF

Because they are immortal like gods. We should be praying to them and the invisible hand.

  • Dosido3

OMG. Amiga. My former employer Had some of the finest Amiga software ever. But they sold substantially fewer units than other platforms, so it was a real thankless job to market them. Im shocked people are still using Amiga and have anything to run on them!

    • It was so far ahead of its time, it’s still useful. I have 5 (collector) though I mostly use the Amiga OS running under an emulator: Let’s me have a 2GHz Amiga, which is definitely better than the fastest real box I have, which has a CPU speed of 66Mhz. LOL.

      • Dosido3

Wow. Me, I’m lucky if I know how to turn a thing on. 🙂

        • notisaidthepig

          Same here.

          • Dosido3

Lol. I was always the useful idiot, advocating from the user’s POV. 🙂

.The Slow Collapse of Imperial Republics

Disputes over Trump’s election are just the latest episodes in the slow erosion of trust in the legitimacy of American institutions.

      Progressives, Jane? Or just Dems?

      • Dosido3

        Good question. Off to check.

      • Dosido3

Well, it seems berniecrats are excited about the results. I interpret this to mean that these winners are new recruits into politics vs establishment dems. I know the proof is in the pudding as to how these folks will perform, but it’s a hopeful beginning. To vet for yourself, try going to Twitter and searching the tag #ADEMs.

    • I saw her on CNN today, Shilling for Dems. Are she and Bernie that dumb, or are their grandchildren threatened? Hmm.

.Syria and the United States: We Now Know

Somehow, it has not sunk into the general consciousness of US public opinion that the Obama administration has supported or is supporting directly or indirectly, overtly or covertly, the forces of Al Qaeda and the Islamic State in Syria (ISIL, ISIS or Daesh) in order to overthrow the government of President Bashar al Assad in Damascus. This should not be surprising because most Americans do not believe that the US
government could be on the wrong side of any conflict. The Mainstream Media (MSM), both print and broadcast, serve as purveyors of this general idea. Call it “fake news” or propaganda, it works well on US
    public opinion.

    .The ‘Post-Truth’ Mainstream Media

U.S. mainstream media sees itself as the definer of what’s true and what’s “propaganda,” but has gotten lost in a fog of self-delusion and is now the principal purveyor of “post-truth” news, writes Nicolas J S Davies.

    https://consortiumnews.com/2017/01/09/the-post-truth-mainstream-media/

    • kreskin

” The astonishing reality is that the mainstream media often leaves the public more ignorant and confused than if they ignored them altogether. This is in fact what polling by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind Poll has found: that people who said they didn’t follow the news at all were better informed about international events than either Fox News or MSNBC viewers, and about as knowledgeable as CNN viewers. People whose main news source was Comedy Central’s The Daily Show scored second highest of all, outscored by NPR listeners but better informed than Sunday talk show and “talk radio” junkies as well as cable news viewers.”

  • thud

” An poorly designed and executed
attempt by Clapper and the CIA’s John Brennan to try to delegitimize the
Presidency of Donald Trump.” Those bad people! Why would they want to do that?

    • 17

I said long before the election that if Trump won he’d need to get rid of half the folks in intelligence due to loyalties to the Clinton machine.

      • thud

Do you think they oppose him merely out of fear for their careers? That would not surprise me but they may have other concerns. He doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, does he?

        • kreskin

A whole lot of money and careers are dependent on that Russian boogey man .

      • kreskin

Friendly relations with the Russians would be a disaster as far as they are concerned … something Trump has been advocating . No cold war ? How boring.

  • EdgarHF

    Yes, more boring economic stuff

      • kreskin

For sure , there needs to be a purge .

    • kreskin

Ass-hole extrordianaire , as arrogant and out of touch as they come .

Obama exit polls: Beloved by minorities, less so by military, criticized for broken promises
    https://www.rt.com/usa/373132-exit-polls-obama-divided/

“The nationwide poll of 1,017 adults was conducted December 14-19, 2016,
with self-identified Democrats outnumbering Republicans by 12 percentage
    points.”

Seems a little biased if there are more Dems being asked the questions….

  • From The Sane Progressive…

The DNC rigged the primary against us, colluded with the media to sabotage our campaign, and actively conspired to elevate Trump as a campaign strategy to blackmail voters. I am SO beyond done with the Democrats and now, YOU, Sen Sanders. Giving credence to this lie is a SLAP in the face…”

    https://www.facebook.com/cnnpolitics/videos/1445678362140659/

    • panem et circenses

You mean she wasn’t done with Sanders before now? Talk about a late holdout.

    • notisaidthepig

OMG. Bernie! This is so sad.

      • kreskin

        We were had .

    • kreskin

      I’d sooner vote for a Republican .

      • Oh, I’d never vote Republican, for the exact reasons I’d never vote Democrat! 😀

  • notisaidthepig

I heard most of the WikiLeaks press conference before heading out to work this morning. There didn’t seem to be anything new. Is that right? Did anyone else catch it???

    • Dosido3

Sorry, Pig. You caught more than I did!

  • notisaidthepig
    • Dosido3

      That’s gonna leave a mark…

      • notisaidthepig

I love Ajamu. He has pulled no punches when it comes to Obama.

    • panem et circenses

The left is completely opposed to fascism. The actual left is just completely ignored in US politics to the point that people believe neoliberalism is actually as “left” as it gets.

      • notisaidthepig

        Hear, hear

  • notisaidthepig

    Preach it, brother!

Pity the sad legacy of Barack Obama

    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jan/09/barack-obama-legacy-presidency?CMP=share_btn_fb

Our hope and change candidate fell short time and time again. Obama
cheerleaders who refused to make him accountable bear some
    responsibility

  • panem et circenses

Speaking of the left, we aren’t rolling over and kissing our asses goodbye like the Obama/Clinton fan club while they wait for their next opportunity to stuff their (unheeded) suggestions into a box for new rulers, which is exactly the process that led to Trump’s “victory”. We’re educating, agitating and organizing for real solutions that don’t rely on our leaders feeling extra benevolent some day about sharing their employers’ wealth.

    • Dosido3

I really don’t get the “let’s thank Obama” crap. He should thank us for the opportunity to serve.

  • notisaidthepig

I grew up in NJ. What a sewer! The embarrassment that was Crispy Creme as governor may turn out to be a precursor for more endless sheninigans.

    • Dosido3

Wisniewski could have a chance if he gets his message out. People are sick of corruption and sick of machine politics. But this IS jersey we’re talking about…

  • Edwin

He asks about Hillary Clinton (hilarious!!!).

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HblodFqenU

    • notisaidthepig

I love her. What she says really resonates with me.

      • Edwin

She cuts through a lot of crap and gets right to the heart of things. I agree with a lot of what she says. I like how she thinks. There are a few areas where we might disagree but that’s life. No big deal. Overall, I want to hear what she will say next.
