Woman Says Baby Died In Jail Cell After Guards Refused Her Medical Care For Labor

A Wisconsin woman is claiming that her requests for medical help were ignored when she went into labor while she was an inmate at the Milwaukee County Jail in July.

How can this be acceptable. They fucking backed the teacher! I want her fired. She needs to be held accountable.

    http://www.local10.com/family/teacher-swipes-mic-from-autistic-boy-set-to-perform-in-thanksgiving-play

    • 17

I think you’re over-reacting, Sho. It didn’t look intentional to me. Hadda suck to be the kid. Hasta suck to be that teacher right now too.

      • Shohanna

Yeah, I am in lots of pain today and no sleep makes for nasty Sho. hehe

        • all_hail_the_hypno_toad

          🙁 Hope you’re feeling better.

          • Shohanna

I wish, I have gone to the hospital twice, they don’t believe me. I haven’t poohed for 7 days. I am nauseated and I have puked twice so far. Fatigued and hungry. 🙁

    • Dosido3

There is a total lack of context for us to say whether the teacher did the right thing or not. Even if it was “wrong” it is not grounds for firing her, maybe for an apology. The child may have acted up during rehearsal, be prone to saying inappropriate things or continuing to talk etc. Or not. We simply don’t know. I work with many autistic kids and they can persist in certain behaviors even when one is hoping for the best. IOW, what might look “cruel” is what is really a boundary being reinforced by the teacher. I don’t like that people laughed, though.

      • Shohanna

True, I am in a nasty mood today. More pain then I can deal with and the ER had nothing new, and no meds so I have had no sleep. Just not in a forgiving mood. My bad.

        • Dosido3

Hi Sho, sorry to be so late in replying. I totally get how protective we want to be. I’ve been losing some perspective too. Hope you are feeling a bit better today.

The CETA Swindle: EU Vote Will Attack Democracy, Workers Rights And Environment

With a fast approaching European Parliament vote on the EU-Canada trade deal CETA and potential subsequent rows over its ratification in EU member states, it continues to draw heavy criticism. A close look at the text of the agreement – and recent declarations designed to reassure critics and gain support for its ratification – shows that concerns over this trade deal in particular are well-founded. Behind the PR attempts by the Canadian Government and the European Commission to sell it as a progressive agreement, CETA remains what it always has been: an attack on democracy, workers, and the environment. It would be a major
    mistake to ratify it.

HA This is what my mother would have done to me. She was controlling and when she lost control, hot damn didn’t talk to her for more then 2 yrs. Everything about my life was her business and STILL is. I don’t notify her for a reason and I have my dad as my EM contact. She would never respect me. And won’t. She disrespects me every fucking chance she gets. It really hurts. This young woman will have lots of therapy to help her. I hope.

Steve Bannon’s dangerous campaign to rebrand racism as American “nationalism”

In just over two months’ time, US president-elect Donald Trump will settle into the Oval Office, bringing with him a cadre of advisors so far rumored to include neo-conservatives, former lobbyists, and outspoken conspiracy theorists. Just down the hall will sit the man who, perhaps more than anyone else, helped steer Trump toward the White House: Steve Bannon, erstwhile executive chairman of the conservative news site Breitbart and Trump campaign CEO, tapped earlier this week as Trump’s chief strategist.

    Iran Deal Tests Trump’s Independence

Among the foreign policy issues on which Donald Trump took a simple anti-Obama, or anti-Clinton, stance during the campaign but about which he had not seemed to have devoted much thought, one of the most
prominent and important is the agreement that restricts Iran’s nuclear program, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA.

When the new president does get a chance to give the subject more attention, he will see that opposition to the agreement is primarily a matter of old political baggage. If he does not want to be burdened with such baggage and desires instead to set his own course, he will build on the agreement rather than succumb to the pressures of those who would like to kill it.

Why Are Public Officials Protecting GMO and the Pesticides Industry? Digging Down into the Cesspool of Corruption

The ‘agrochemicals-agritech industry’ should not be regarded as some kind of faceless concept because that lets individuals off the hook. It is run by identifiable individuals who sell health-and environment-damaging products,co-opt scientists, control public institutions and ensure farmers are kept on a chemical treadmill. From CEOs and scientists to public officials and media/PR spin doctors, specific individuals can be identified and at some stage should be hauled into court for what amounts to ‘crimes against humanity’.

‘Obama administration at war with RT, an alternative media source’

    I know who’s side I’m on.

    https://www.rt.com/op-edge/367402-state-dep/

    • kreskin

God forbid ! A legitimate truthful news organization to counter White House / U.S. government propaganda. Do those idiots know how many people read and listen to RT news world wide ? Obama and company just can’t shame and embarrass us enough , can they ?

      • EdgarHF

Maybe if all msm was not owned by 6 giant corporations, soon to be only 5, people might be able to find a reliable domestic news source.

        • kreskin

The same corporate persons who own our politicians / government own all the media .

          • EdgarHF

And we’re not counting fake news sites like Crooks & Liars and Breitbart. I don’t trust RT any more than anyone else anymore but it is one of the few outlets to get alternative viewpoints.

          • kreskin

I’ve found that RT is a good source of information . They put what we have here in the states to shame, that’s for damn sure..
I just want to know the facts , I don’t care what the information source is .

          • Edwin

Back when I used to turn on the TV we got an English-language news station from China that was miles better than CNN.

          • kreskin

I’m not surprised. CNN is as bad or worse than Fox now .

          • Edwin

I haven’t turned on the TV in 8 or 9 years now. (There is one in the house, but I never watch it– computer guy here.) Even then I knew they were lying. I sent them so many emails and not one response so I turned them off, forever.

          • kreskin

I don’t bother to watch major network news or political talk shows anymore , haven’t for quite a while . I’ll sometimes watch local news .

          • Edwin

I tried to turn the TV a while ago and couldn’t figure out which remote or what buttons worked it so I gave up.

          • kreskin

RT ranks among the top five most-viewed international news channels in Europe and the US, the biggest study yet of the Russian network’s viewership by Ipsos reveals. Seventy million individuals switch to RT TV channels weekly, with 35 million watching daily.

          • Edwin

            Two of zeeee worst!

      • Dosido3

I guess RT is the new Al Jazeera…remember how people freaked about them?

        • Edwin

someone just called me a commie at another site 😀

          • kreskin

LOL . My wife would have thanked them .

Was our anniversary yesterday … and here we are on opposite sides of the planet . : (

          • Edwin

Are you going to Russia? Happy anniversary.

          • kreskin

That’s the plan , come February.

          • Edwin

I’ve always wanted to take an extended journey through Russia. The place fascinates me. Hopefully one day. For now I visit there as an armchair traveller; love the internet!

Russian history was one of my favourite courses at university and I had an excellent professor. When the Berlin Wall came down the Canadian government contacted him for advice. He’s a noted specialist on all things Russia.

          • kreskin

I really enjoyed the time I’ve spent there , but then I was a tourist , had a ticket home on a specific date and I had a pad waiting for me . This is under completely different circumstances , as you know .

          • Edwin

I need a big sack of money so I can just travel for the next 10 years. 😀

            (Can’t someone help me?)

          • kreskin

Same here . It’s one of my regrets , that I didn’t travel more when I had the chance.

          • Edwin

I have done quite a bit, but it only makes me want more, more, more. It’s a great education and very mind expanding.

          • EdgarHF

I was obsessed with Russian novels, especially Dostoyevsky, when I was in my 20s. I would like to visit Russia just for that reason.

          • Edwin

            So many reasons.

          • kreskin

The trip of a lifetime for history buffs .

I grew up during the cold war . Russia , it’s history , it’s people and culture has always fascinated me . It was surreal … the first time I stood in Red Square . Who could have imagined ?

          • EdgarHF

            Commie!

    • Edwin

I view a lot of RT content.

      • SmotPoker

Of you do, you fucking malcontent commie!

    • panem et circenses

Sure, it’s a lack of wealthy donors that’s the Democrats’ problem. Brock sure does have his finger on the pulse of America.

      • Edwin

Let’s get billions of dollars from donors so I can put a permanent troll army online to abuse any who resist—> for Victory.

Sounds like a winning strategy Dems. Good luck in 2020, 2024, 2028. Hell, run Hillary again, all 3 times.

  • oodaloop

Andrew Levine looks to the GOP’s obstruction of Obama as a model for dealing with Trump. However, he realizes that the Clintonized Dems are ill-suited and ineffective for the task…It will be up to “We the People” to push any progressive programs, and to stop Trump’s fascist-leanings. Levine states that the top priority is to organize the opposition into a viable party to undo what Clintonism has lead us to. And he kinda leaves it hanging right there…

    From http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/11/18/trouble-ahead-with-trump-and-for-him/:

We must never lose sight, however, of the underlying cause of the Trump phenomenon – the Clintonite (neoliberal, liberal imperialist, anti-working class) turn in American, especially Democratic Party, politics.

Without making the mistake of going over to the opposite extreme, by forsaking the progressive side of identity politics, the Clintonite turn must be reversed, as quickly and definitively as possible.

And so, the struggles ahead must be waged simultaneously on two fronts: in the first instance, against reactionaries of the Trumpian sort and against reactionary Trumpian initiatives, but also against the politics of Hillary and Bill and those who think like them.

Each day brings news of opposition in the streets; and plans are afoot for massive demonstrations around Inauguration Day. This is all well and good. But it must not be forgotten that when there are no effective means for achieving political ends, actions become merely expressive, and often turn out badly. Even when the level of repression is minimal, there is always a backlash; and, when militant energies are exhausted, quiescence generally follows.

Therefore act, but also think! And learn not just from experience, but also from the enemy.

    • EdgarHF

The Democatic party is infested like cockroaches by Clintonites. I think their house needs to be metaphorically burnt to the ground.

LOL That’s what we call “the kiddie table” at thanks giving dinner.

Liberals are flattered by such things.

I envy Republicans in all but their ideology. They get mad. They put their leaders on notice. They make it their business to see that people lose their careers. Until the left gets that petty and vindictive and disciplined the democrats will keep telling them to go fuck themselves.

      • kreskin

Chuck the Schmuck , minority leader , top dog . Enough said .

      • MeanValueTheorem

Not until the Democratic Party exorcises the clintonian demons and drive them from the party as St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland, will it be salvageable.

        I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Democrats had to lose twice to Reagan and then to Bush before they threw out the playbook and got on board with Clintonism. I doubt these morons will learn in time to deny Trump a second term. I doubt they’ll learn in time to deny him a super-majority in congress.

I think the nation’s going full tilt fascist before they get a clue. By then it’ll be too late.

        • Edwin

Instead, I fear, they’ll invite more in.

    • Edwin

A lot of Asian nations see their future tied to China, not the USA. Korea used to do most of its trade with the USA, but now trade with China has far surpassed trade with the USA. Same is happening in other Asian nations.

      • EdgarHF

A whole slew of news outlets amazingly all independently wrote articles today about China running all trade if the TPP is dies.

        • Edwin

          Why shouldn’t they?

But, I think you’re saying, “somehow,” “mysteriously,” Western media is suddenly making it big news to generate fear and uncertainty? (I think)

The thing is, it’s been worked on for so long and so many big corporations have put so much into it, I’m sure none of them wants it to die. I don’t think it’s going to disappear.

It will be something we will always have to monitor like we do net neutrality.

      • doubleplusliberal

        It looks like it too!

        • Edwin

They are amazing looking in the stores always. Picture perfect and so many kinds. Always so fresh too. They are simply awesome mushroom growers here.

          • doubleplusliberal

I wish we had markets like that here, it sounds wonderful…I’m jealous.

          • Edwin

It’s just an my corner shop (where I get 80% of my stuff). It’s a veggie place with other basics as well (pasta, tinned stuff, condiments, dairy, etc.). Fresh veg every day and the mushrooms always look great. It’s no bigger than a little convenience store. It’s tiny.

          • doubleplusliberal

I live (for the time being) in a rural small town, there’s nothing here like that.

          • Edwin

No fresh veggie shop? You have to go to the IGA and get so-so stuff? This store is small, but they bring in fresh veg every day and it turns over fast.

          • doubleplusliberal

There’s one over-priced local grocery store and a Super Wal-Mart next town over.
During the summertime there’s a couple small fresh produce stands that set up outside of town.

          • Edwin

That would be rough. This little veggie store is great to have in my neighbourhood. I go every day just about so I always have fresh. I can walk there in 5 minutes. For a tiny store I can get almost everything I need because I cook from scratch. There’s no frozen food or prepared food for sale in there.

There’s also a bakery and a butcher up there.

          • Edwin

            I go there every day.

To me that’s America going over the hump: Empire on the way down. The decline has begun.

        • Edwin

Hiya, Noti. Hope you’ve had a pleasant day.

          • notisaidthepig

I’m on holiday! A friend is coming over in a little while and we are going to watch one of my favorite movies (Hawaii by Marco Berger). Things are going well! Hope you are doing good today.

          • Edwin

I made beans again today. I made a lot and froze them. Last time they turned out just fine.

Glad you have a holiday and your friend is over and you have good movies, etc. That’s always the best. I love cozy at homes. Hate getting dressed to go out for dinner. (I have come to hate eating out.)

          • notisaidthepig

I much prefer to stay in myself.

          • Edwin

It’s one thing I hate when I travel: looking for sustenance. I tend to buy a lot of fruit and bread and stuff like that and have a lot of picnics. Looking for restaurants makes me tired.

          • Edwin

Maybe it’s an age thing. In my younger days I loved to go out to eat and then hit the bars afterward. Now that’s the last thing I want to do.

          • Edwin

PS back then I drank and smoked and you could still drink and smoke everywhere. Now I do neither.

        • kreskin

I can’t stand to listen to him anymore.

    • notisaidthepig

      That was awesome. As usual.

    • kreskin

Man , what a horse’s ass this guy turned out to be .

      • towerofbabel

Again, I can’t make it though the whole thing. What a hollow man. It shows in his eyes. He’s a Wraith.

        • MeanValueTheorem

          I agree entirely.

    • MeanValueTheorem

I know that look. It’s not good.

He gambled everything on Clinton and lost. He may have been the president, but it wasn’t his party. The fucking Clintons are to the Democrats what Boss Tweed was to Tammany Hall.

They’ve run that fucking party like it was they owned it.

      Fuck the Democrats.

      • Edwin

I didn’t watch, I listened. Maybe I should watch. It sounded like a heap-o-bullshit to me. He’s a good con man.

Hillary’s loss looks terrible for him. All that unfinished stuff he was going to pass along… well, nuh-uh, not happening. It is also an indictment on his presidency.
And the Dems didn’t just lose the presidency they lost EVERYTHING.

        Will they clue in? NOPE.

        • MeanValueTheorem

The look on his face says it all. I think he just realized that no one takes him seriously anymore.

          • towerofbabel

Yes. It’s a sick look. He realized that the balloon that is his image was burst by Clinton’s loss. Now all he has to cling to is his presidential library.

          • MeanValueTheorem

            And time’s run out.

This woman will possibly get a million or more settlement. At least I hope she does. While I would be down right pissed, I perhaps know a bit more about the law and allow the arrest. Resisting, innocent or not makes it harder to fight.

I didn’t see any comments. Is there a video?

      • Shohanna

Down at the bottom of the article and I went to YouTube to watch it.

Edwin’s post on the Japanese post-war economy made me think of this fantastic lecture. What can anti-capitalism learn from Wall Mart? That Wall Mart is actually a huge command economy.

    • notisaidthepig

      OMG. You’re right.

    • Edwin

Why do we need a new one every day? I just get all cozy and we move to a new room. 🙂

      • I try to provide fresh links, every day, is the primary reason. But I won’t sweat it, if you don, if I miss the odd one.

        • Edwin

And we appreciate it, but it’s OK to take a rest now and then. You’re worth it. 😀

No stress, m’kay. There’s already plenty of that to go around.

    • The new thread was asleep, right above my own sleepy head.

  • kreskin

” Neo-Liberal billionaire George Soros and other wealthy Democratic donors are meeting to design a resistance strategy to undermine President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda when he takes office, the media reported. ”

Who here voted for Soros ? Anyone ? My , how these filthy rich effers love to play God ! Soros is living proof that billions of dollars in the hands of an individual is too much power and should not be allowed.

OK, OK, I wrote in Soros.

The people who orchestrated and oversaw Vietnam, Iraq, Aghanistan, and oversaw an international torture gulag were really a basket of fluffy kittens.

    This new guy is bad.

  • ROFL. Sorry I forgot links and a thread today. I totally slept in all day.

    • Edwin

That’s alright. We’ll be fine. Hope you feel well-rested.

      • I needed it. I’ve got a week off from my contract then we start a new phase: Upgrades.

        • Edwin

          That sounds good, I think.

          With or without pay?

          • Without, but so it goes. My rate there is good and I can stand a little time off. I may go (car) camping, Mon-Wed.

          • Edwin

I hear ya. Guess it’s the “modern way”. For many years I taught in the private schools here. I was not paid during summer and winter vacation time (about 12 weeks). I loved the freedom, but it sure hurt the pocketbook. That’s 3 months a year without pay.

(I travelled a lot though. Trade off.)

Still, in the olden days, when I was young, we got hired full time. It was nice.

    • kreskin

Must have needed it . No big deal , you’ve been doing a good job in my opinion .

We’ll let it slide this time. Pray we don’t alter our agreement further….

  • Edwin
    • Shohanna

Why RedState? O.O I don’t like someone calling the perpetrators thugs?! How much more racist can you get? Sure they were assholes with what they did, but that does not warrant what the dude said about them. I feel bad for Wilcox sure, he didn’t deserve what happened. But that is no damned reason to spread more HATE to encourage more. 🙁

      • Edwin

Yup. That’s true Shohanna, but they had the video from the Chicago Tribune and they interviewed the guy. Did you see his cuts, scrapes and bruises.

I doubt any leftie site will publish. My focus is the video interview, not the racist intro.

        • Edwin
          • Edwin

Here we go. Try this. Just the facts. This is the guy that got beat.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKFQ5i9jXmA

          • Shohanna

Thank you Edwin. That was much better! 😀

          • notisaidthepig

I feel bad for this guy. And he’s absolutely right: what does the fact that he supported Trump have to do with getting insurance info from the other guy?

          • panem et circenses

Not sure how much it had to do with anything, since it was someone near the person recording saying the Trump shit after the fight was already underway. The accident seems to have been the catalyst, since those directly involved were just swinging other than the woman who was asking about how she’s gonna get her car fixed.

          • Edwin

I plan to see if there is more about this. That racist video (sorry) said “the perps” have been charged so it leads me to believe that this was treated as an assault on the guy.

I don’t care what these “perps” think, it’s not OK to do that to anyone for any reason.

          • panem et circenses

One side’s story isn’t likely to be “just the facts”.

          • Edwin

Yeah, more facts than we’ll hear from any “leftie type news,” like, say, Karoli & Co.

          • panem et circenses

Liberals aren’t lefties. They’re rainbow capitalists.

          • Edwin

I wanted this story to get some light because I think it deserves it. No one is covering it. They’re all covering the booing at Hamilton.

          • notisaidthepig

            Nice one.

        • Shohanna

Yes, I watched the whole video, I did like that they interviewed him.

          • Edwin

That’s the part people need to see. Sorry about the racist beginning part. They just got charged so maybe tomorrow it will be at other news sites without the racist intro part.

      • kreskin

They’re fucking thugs , nothing racist about saying so . .

        • Shohanna

Perpetuating the notion that black people are thugs is wrong. Yes, I know they acted like thugs, that does not in anyway mean we need to call pissed off, scared black people “thugs”. Seriously, we get pissed off, we get scared too, are we now thugs for expressing it? Criminals YES. “Thugs” NO.

I am not a hypocrite either. I wouldn’t want to be called a thug in a moment of lost sanity. 🙁

          • Edwin

They are bullies and what they did is wrong. Calling them “thugs” is too racially loaded right now. (Thug used to be a perfectly good word for brute, but now it implies black.)

If it were 5 white guys beating one back guy for (allegedly) voting for Hillary, it would be all over every leftie blogs for weeks.

          • Shohanna

Tell that to Kreskin. Sorry Kreskin I don’t agree.

          • Edwin

When I was growing up, thug did not mean a black person it meant a brutish person. The left has “politically corrected” it to mean something else. I’m torn because I hate to see perfectly good words politicized.

          • Shohanna

Thug means black cretin now, and there is no excuse for it. It’s called institutionalized racism and we need to call it out when we see it. That’s how you fight it. IMO. If you have a different view I would welcome it.

          • Edwin

I hear you. Personally I would use the word carefully. I am not in favour of the left weaponizing perfectly good words. That’s what the Nazis did– not joking. Or see Newspeak: bastardizing the language so we cannot properly communicate.

Now it has been weaponized so we must tread carefully.

          • kreskin

Perpetuating the notion that black people are thugs ? Nonsense . I don’t care what color they are , If that wasn’t an act of thuggery then there is no such thing. The kind of political correctness that you are advocating drives me up the wall , it’s ridiculous .

          • Edwin

The left has gone way way way way way too far into political correctness.

They deleted all her comments. I did not respond to her many attacks on me (about 15 or 20) , except once to ask her how things were at the new blog.
