Today, Facebook announced it’s going to stop people from using ad-blockers, to remove the insane number of ads they vomit onto your news feed. They are portraying their decision to force their advertising on you as the morally correct stand, and those people using ad blockers as villains extraordinaire.

Their main target seems to be the powerful and popular Fluff Busting Purity, a browser plugin, available for every desktop browser. I’ve been using FB Purity myself, for years now and I can attest it makes using Zuckerberg’s little site actually tolerable.

Of course, these things are always an Arms Race and, as soon as they announced their new initiative, F.B. Purity’s author responded with a new build of the software, which gets rid, once again, of their ad content.

It just seems stupid, or rather the folks who keep trying this kind of fuckery must be stupid. I’ve been watching them try since the 80s, when corporations first started to try to shut down software piracy, then music piracy in the late 90s/2000s and now ad blocking. It never works, and they never seem to learn.

      For example (one tiny example), back in the bush days, one day I googled images of stuff like “bush devil” “bush asshole” etc. There were hundreds of thousands of images. About a year later I did the same and there were 40 images. The Iraq war was on: he was a “war preznit”

There used to be dozens (hundreds/more?) articles about Hillary’s time at Walmart and how on several occasions she adviced the board on how to “beat” charges brought by female employees who were victims of sexual assault while on the job.* Complete with cases, dates, etc…
        
        It was all scrubbed a few years ago.
        
        *Which, for some reason, is not uncommon at Walmarts.

  Well, as I’ve said before, I’m happy to have it; it keeps me in touch with friends and family and, for that at least, it’s invaluable. The key is to manage your privacy on there, both through FB’s setting and with browser plugins such as Privacy Badger, FB Purity, etc.
  
  Heck, if I didn’t have an FB account, then Susan Sarandon would never have become my friend and there’s another “worth it” reason, right there. LOL.

In case anyone hasn’t watched the Ferguson video (and I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t want to it, it’s really disturbing), I need to make it clear that the gunshots were fired almost immediately after the protester was hit by the car. The protesters were standing around him when the shots were fired and he had to be carried to safety. So this (the hit and run) was no fucking accident, no way.
