          I haven’t been working. I went to India and then came back here and I have been a house-bum. Gotta do the job thing this fall.

            It stared already. I used to always get private high school gigs. Then the school board took over all school in Seoul (public and private) and I taught high school for them, which was OK. Then they phased out the high school programme so I left and went to India and a few other countries, big 6-month trip. The next year I got hired on with the school board again for middle school and I hated the school. After the year finished I left and went back to India again. I contacted the school board again (they hire every year) but they said I was too experienced and too expensive as they had budget cuts.

            So here I am, in limbo.

          • If you’ll recall, I’m the guy with 30 years experience on the Internet, and even some credit for bits of its infrastructure. I don’t know what “meet your dad” means, but I promise it’s not that easy to use any change in IP, even when through a tor or vpn connection to continue to post and for most people, changing IP upon demand is nigh impossible.

          • What I hear you telling me that your dad signed up to whatever service with two different emails. Services, like Twitter, generally only ban by IP in the most extreme circumstances of hard-core trolling and such, it’s highly unlikely your father got IP banned, unless he had already had multiple dozens of abusive accounts on that one IP.

            I know that changing one’s IP address can be done, and all the ways one can accomplish it which is why I know difficult it is, these days.

            It entirely depends on what kind of service you have.

            I “buy” my IP addresses. I could go buy more! My ISP can map pretty much any set of IP addresses I obtain onto my systems. It’s not even expensive – maybe $5 / month or something like that for a set of 8.

            Of course, then changing all the DNS and so forth is a royal pain in the ass, but it’s not very hard to do, just a lot of detail to get right.

            Also, I have a block of them, so I can re-shuffle which gateway I’m going through and the outside world then has me at a different IP – any would-be blocker has to know the right mask to get them all, otherwise it’s one at a time!

            I read two different newspaper accounts of an incident, in one you would have hung the culprit given the option, in the other you would have let him go.
            I had to double check the only real facts, names and addresses, to be sure it was the same incident.
            I’ve never bothered with ‘news’ papers since.
            Thinking the same could not hold true for television because you can see and hear for yourself what happened I had another rude awakening some time later when I watched and listened to a prominent politician’s speech in its entirety, then saw and heard what was reported on the ‘news’, a carefully edited clip taken out of context which completely changed the meaning of what he said. I now take everything I see and hear with a gigantic pinch of salt.

          Come on, this is about more than old age. Hillary Clinton has had many many instances of fainting and falling down, and two instances of very serious blood clots. In one fainting instance, she broke her arm, and one of her falls took place when she was onstage speaking and blacked out and fell so hard that she had a severe concussion that ended up with a blood clot in her brain. We’ve seen photos of her being helped up a short flight of steps with men holding her up on either side, and more recent ones where she’s being held up by two men while trying to give a speech. The emails also point to issues where she’s looking for drugs to help her, and where she’s contacting someone at the NFL because of her “cracked head.” I do think she’s got problems, and that it’s more than just old age.

All the way through the store, she couldn’t believe how clean it was, how nice the employees were and how low the prices. Even so, when she got to the checkout and the guy gave her the total, she actually did a double-take and said, “wait, what?!?” Then, the whole way back, she couldn’t stop talking about how much she got, for so little.

    The power of employee-owned businesses. And, hey, I got a 100-count box of Otter Pops out of it (they were 3 bucks)! LOL.

            They’re an employee owned, independent chain, whose every day prices are well below the sale prices of most big Kroger’s owned conglomerates or ChinaMart. Their sale prices are absolutely astounding. The only things I’ve found I can get cheaper elsewhere (and that at a locally owned chain, for reasons that are a long story) is meat and some dairy. But even then, WinCo is only a few cents more for those products.

            And they do this all while paying employees $25 and up, and giving every employee stock in the company, which itself results in amazing customer service and cleanly, well-organized stores with accurate signage.

            You might double-check, as they move into area slowly, and a medium drive will still save you money, if you shop there. (weren’t you in Nevada, @sk?)

          That’s all Korea had when I got here; Mom and Pop shops. I loved it. You could run in and get your watch battery changed, on the spot, in front of your eyes, in about 1 minute, for $1. Every place was like that. You can go in and buy 2 screws from a bin. Hardware stores are full of crates of stuff from the factory and sold by the piece (not a pack of 25 assorted washers, you can buy the one you need for 15 cents.)

          The big box stores have been moving in, as well as the franchises. The Mom and Pop stores are dropping like flies. My local neighbourhood used to have many, but most of them are gone now.

          There were 2 little bakeries here. Then a “bakery” chain moved in and they both went under. The chain is way over-priced, over-packaged, from a factory, glitzy baking.

          THANK YOU!! That’s the impression I got from both of them. From the comedy they both do! “Girls” was interesting at first, but then it turned to shit every time I turned around. I couldn’t watch it past the 3 rd season.

          And I have seen a lot of clips of Amy, and … I haven never laughed once at anything she said mostly because I could tell it was fake. :/ I thought I was the only one. I felt bad about it. I am like her comedy isn’t funny from my stand point. There is a type of understanding you gain from being a feminist.             I used to have a really good thing going here. Long vacations; summer (5 weeks) and winter (10 weeks) and I did lots of travel. The school board made us go to school even when we didn’t have classes. Now it’s just another job.

            At the private schools I didn’t get paid during vacation, but I didn’t care because I had the time off!! I’m not about the money.
