It may be that the Clintons Continue To Blame Others For Their Loss, but I disagree the Democrats can recover, or that they’re worth anything at all, going forward.

“So the Three-Fifths Compromise was not to give the slave states more representation, but rather to reduce some of the impact of counting larger slave populations found in the South.” This statement proves that the NYT is spreading lies? Argle Bargle!

    • EdgarHF

An absolute lie. According to Akhil Reed Amar in America’s Constitution: A Biography all the arguments were about a compromise to bring in the Slave states by bringing in a ‘property’ clause to give said states more representation. The even sicker part chattel slavery was the only property counted. Why, only 3/5ths? It was to give more representation while at the same time reducing any tax burden for said ‘property’ to 3/5ths.

      • thud

That site is full of bunk. I just read an opinion there that academia is not serious about diversity and inclusiveness because more blacks than whites are on sports teams. Kinda agenda driven.

        • EdgarHF

Which site are you referring to?

Yeah, that article is total bullshit.

          • thud

I’m not agin bashing the Times it’s just that ain’t a fitting tool for the job.

          • EdgarHF

I agree, I was just about to add that I still think the NYT is a purveyor of bullshit. Bullshitters will use the truth when it aligns with their narrative and lie when it will not.

          • thud

I’m still pissed at how they did the bidding of Karl Rove and company in 2004 to help Lil’George. They went considerably beyond pushing a narrative and had their thumbs on the scale bigly.

        • Mea Culpa: I only read the article and didn’t look at the rest of the site, as I was in a hurry this morning. That site is totally untrustworthy, IMO.

          • thud

I kinda figured something along those lines.I woke up foggy this morning and bristled when I read the crap on that site. Then I read on for the giggles. 🙂

These are my random thoughts on this:

Human Society is a lot like the Borg and it is hard to escape that reality. (This video.)
The self is alway contextualized socially and therefore in large measure a social construct. (Think of “individualists” like Hippies, or Punks, or Hill-bots, etc.)
Each of us only owns part of our brain if we own any part at all. (Society is an operating system that is downloaded into each of us through both nature and nurture.)
We must work very hard to maintain a “moral self.” (Individual morality is defined by how we define our relationship to others–so it is an act of socialization. It is a kind of up-scaling to a larger “social being” from the individual. Our only way to change is to change the software.)

Researcher Protests ‘Gag Order’ on Israeli Nukes

With billions in pending aid payments to Israel, the government and a researcher are at loggerheads about a gag order that keeps U.S. officials from releasing any information about Israel’s nuclear weapons program.

There needs to be a gag order on speaking about the gag order. Clearly just the one aint good enough.

You just just turn that sucker loose and go.

I’m surprised I’m not seeing this at bigger sites:

The Auditor General of NATO was found dead

    http://eurasiadiary.com/news/world/93424-the-auditor-general-of-nato-was-found-dead

    • notisaidthepig

        • notisaidthepig

A lot of that going around it seems….

    • I’m surprised I’m not seeing this at bigger sites

I was too, so I did a bit of google-snooping. I would think it’s because.

      1. Auditor-General of NATO in Belgium. Not such a senior official as headlines make it sound.
      2. He did it with a gun known to be his (but not legally licensed.)
      3. He left a note.
      4. Cops and Coroner agree, his family just doesn’t believe it.
      5. The controversy seems to being ginned up (in Belgium) solely on sites that have a, well, to be kind, “Weekly World News” feel to them. In the US, reddit seems to be the only site that cares, and that’s not a good sign.

At least, that’s what I’d like to think the reason is, but really the likely reason is: Bigger sites, especially American-oriented ones, aren’t there to publish news, but to narrate the story that we are supposed to believe is how D.C. really operates. 🙁

      • 17

Thanks for looking into it. I didn’t bother other than a quick startpage search. I figured if there were anything big about it, it’d show up, and THEN we’d get to play the real/fake game.

        • Well, it’s definitely real that an official of Belgium’s NATO contingent is dead!

      • kreskin

His family isn’t buying it … that it was suicide.

      • kreskin

        “The likely reason ” . I agree.

Danger from Trump’s Distrust of CIA

President-elect Trump’s distrust of the U.S. intelligence community – made worse by unproven CIA claims that Russia secretly tried to aid his election – could limit the value of daily intel briefings, says ex-CIA

If you haven’t seen this video you should watch it. I watched the movie
“Snowden” last night and he mentioned Binney and it reminded me of this
video which is very very good..

A 36-year veteran of America’s Intelligence Community, William Binney
resigned from his position as Director for Global Communications
Intelligence (COMINT) at the National Security Agency (NSA) and blew the
whistle, after discovering that his efforts to protect the privacy and
security of Americans were being undermined by those above him in the
    chain of command.

The NSA data-monitoring program which Binney and his team had developed
    — codenamed ThinThread — was being aimed not at foreign targets as
intended, but at Americans (codenamed as Stellar Wind); destroying
privacy here and around the world. Binney voices his call to action for
the billions of individuals whose rights are currently being violated.

    William
Binney speaks out in this feature-length interview with Tragedy and
Hope’s Richard Grove, focused on the topic of the ever-growing
    Surveillance State in America.

How Those Damned Hallmark Christmas Movies Helped Hillary Lose
